Notriphobia is the fear of not having any trips booked. Now, this isn’t a real thing, but I do think many people suffer from it. Many of you know that I manage a Chiropractors office and I see the same patients all the time, and we’ve gotten to know each other very well. Some people literally have another trip book before they leave on the current trip. When I saw the below picture, I thought of them. I’m not judging them - they are very blessed to be able to do that. Some of us don’t get the shakes when we don’t have another trip booked - we’re just take it easy when it comes to travel - it happens, when it happens. So, where do you fit in with this topic? Let’s travel into your answer today……

*This is all in good fun - this is in no way making fun of people that enjoy traveling.

Do you suffer with Notriphobia?
If yes…..when is your next trip happening? (please post where you’re going)
Do you normally have a next trip planned before you go on the current trip?
(multiple choice)

*We are not talking about only Disney trips - we are talking about any trip to anywhere.

For Me…..I slightly suffer from Notriphobia. I don’t HAVE to have a trip on the books, and I’m not losing sleep when we don’t have a trip on the books, but I am constantly thinking about when our next trip will happen and where we should go. Now that my DD22 is retired from softball, I find myself thinking of travel a lot more. When she was playing, our travel was her tournaments, so we didn’t go on vacations. Now we have more time, so it is fun planning trips. I currently do have a WDW trip planned for March with DH and my DD22 and I might go to WDW too next year - not sure when yet - it all depends on her semester breaks.

If you all see any typos - I apologize - it literally took me a 1/2 hour to post this poll today. This website is getting more and more frustrating - it keeps refreshing and then I lose a lot of my content and have to rewrite it. I know others are having issues too. I’m not meaning to get off topic with this poll - just voicing my frustration :headache:

I have trips planned through May 2027. I suppose I have notriphobia!

I am kind of the opposite on that. As much as I do enjoy trips, they cause a lot of anxiety once they are booked. We already did our 2025 trip, and don't have anything for 26 lined up yet.

I have more anxiety once I book a trip.
The cost, health issues, the potential of having to cancel, worry about who will look after the house while we’re gone, etc…. cause many sleepless nights.

I really do love to travel though. lol.

I don't have to have trips planned, but I always seem to.
We like to travel, but as we get older, I would rather stay places longer and relax more.....and flying for too long is getting harder and harder.

editing to add trips already booked
Oct. DD, DS, DGD, DGS and me are going to Universal Orlando to see Epic,(I haven't been there in 10 years or so). Out of my comfort zone

Nov, DH and I are going on a 17 night Panama Canal cruise
Jan. 10 nights at WDW
Feb, 5 nights at DLR
March is a local trip for 4 nights (all details not done on that yet, waiting to hear fro DIL when her business trip is since I am school transportation when she is out of town)
April is 11 night Mexican Riviera and Sea of Cortez cruise
Aug is 7 night Alaska cruise

Planned but not booked is a family WDW trip in Oct.
Planned by not booked is WDW with DH in Dec

Slightly suffer I like to have trips planned something to look forward to just wish they weren’t so expensive 🤣🤣🤣 that way I could plan more !!!

I don't really have Notripphobia, although I voted "slightly." We NEVER used to plan trips in advance; the shortest "planning time" I've ever had was 4 days! New job was starting so I booked airfare and hotels on Wednesday and we were in Disney on Sunday!! Circumstances made this possible and affordable: My BIL was a flight attendant AND a cast member, and they owned a Marriott timeshare, all of which cut my costs significantly but also meant we often went to Disney without really planning too, hahaha.

Now that those three circumstances don't exist, it's harder to plan at the last minute, especially now with Disney offering BounceBack discounts, which seem to be the best they have. I've started "grabbing" a room for our next trip within a week of returning from a current trip, which I guess is exactly what Disney has in mind with the BB offers!

Currently, I will be in Disney from November 8-14 (3 nights as CSR with DD32, then 3 nights solo at ASSports) and again from January 12-16 with DH at Saratoga Springs. Not sure what next year will hold as I will be retiring in August and will NOT be tied to an academic schedule for trip-planning!

ETA: WHOA!! I can make DD's and my dining reservations starting TOMORROW!! Sixty days doesn't seem like a long time when the trip has been scheduled for almost a year!

I voted; Moderately so. The last 2 years I've gone to WDW in Sept and early NOV and currently I have a reservation with a BB offer for mid-Jan that I am 95% certain will be changed.

I have no trips planned right now, and it’s extremely rare if airfare, hotels, itineraries, etc. are determined more than a few weeks in advance.

I’m thinking about a few options for mid-late October.

I don't necessarily need a trip booked (we usually finalize bookings around 2-4 months out), but I'm always planning my next one. We're going to France next month for two weeks. Next spring is probably going to be Portugal.

I like having a trip planned to have something to look forward too. We had a few friends over for the games yesterday and started talking about 2026 vacations.

We are talking about a group cruise to Bermuda in May and DH and I are talking about going to Disney in December. We will see where we end up going nothing is confirmed.

I kind of live by the motto: nomads go mad if they can't travel.

I've been traveling a lot for more than 40 years, but we've had to pull back due to job insecurity for me and my husband gets 2 weeks of vacation time, but doesn't have a backup pilot to cover for when he takes time off.

I don't have 1 trip with my daughter planned for December with my daughter to go to Epic Universe, but beyond that, we're not planning anything for a while.

Of course, having just adopted a puppy is a great distraction from not traveling.

I severely suffer from notriphobia. My sweet mother-in-law taught me to travel as long as we are able. She passed in 2000, at only 62 years old, from ALS. I take trips with DH, and solo trips as well. We have our 50th wedding anniversary trip coming up this month, taking our son and daughter and their spouses to Mackinac Island for a few nights. Then I have a solo trip coming up in November to Frankenmuth, then we have our Christmas trip to Nashville. I have a few nights at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island reserved for next May, and we have a family cruise booked for January 2027 with our son, daughter, and granddaughter and spouses. We plan to keep traveling as long as we are able, and finances allow.

I've started writing my responses/posts in Word and then copy/pasting. It's faster and reduces my stress levels.

I prefer to have some trips in the works (as I would imagine most would ;) ), but I'm not sure if it's full on phobia.

We're leaving for Ireland on Thursday, so my last few weeks has been planning that trip. We had a trip planned for Hawaii in October, but unfortunately we had to postpone that one. So we're been trying to figure out what the next trip will be to fill that time (and use up the flight credits we now have). Sometimes, just figuring out where to go next takes the place of actual trip planning.

I don’t have any trips planned as cancer is ruling my life these days.
My cousin has a trip at the end of the month so I will ask him about his experience and especially the food!

Well, as some of you know, travel ball related travel is what currently dominates my life. Prior to this, I did get pretty antsy and irritated if I didn't have some kind of vacation on the horizon. I'm sure I'll get that way once we're past this phase. Until then, I remind myself that I spent my most recent summer in OK, GA, CO, and CA (can add in LA, MS, AL, NM, and AZ if you want to count driving states)...I just had a weekend trip to MT...DH gets UT this weekend...and we have travel to AZ, FL, and OH coming up. I would like to add that I at least got some time to step away from it all in MT and have some me time as well as a late day adventure with DD after her softball stuff was done.
