There have been sooo many cute outfits over the last few days posted here. I'll get to my sewing soon but have been working on new jewels instead. That swirly retro Mickey fabric has finally given me a reason to use my Mickey's & come up with this fringe bracelet.

That matches the swirly Mickey fabric so well!!! That is so cute!

This may have already been answered but overlooked...how do you get the ribbon onto the shirts. Do you sew them on or something else. Thanks!

I use Aleene's OK to wash it. I use a small paint brush and "paint" a thin layer of glue on the back of the ribbon. Then stick it where you want it. It takes a day to dry, then you're suppose to let it "cure" for 5 days.

Thank you so much ladies!:dance3: I have a list and am heading to the store. And thank you Teresa for that website. I read a few on the items needed and bookmarked it for later. I'm sure I'll spend tons of time there!!! :surfweb:

If I can accomplish this sewing thing then anybody can, so everybody join in!!

No problem!

I've had these for about 6 months but found them at JoAnns. I bought all they had at our store and have been trying to figure out what to do with them. I've learned my lesson about seeing something and not buying at that moment. I just have lots of stuff now!

Were they with sewing or scrapbooking stuff? I scrapbook and I'm going to NEED those buttons to do a matching layout!!

It's done! Phew- This is the WalMart dress I did for Laila's 2nd birthday party on Sunday, the theme is Minnie Mouse.

Please ignore her more than thrilled expression- she has inherited her mama's dramatic streak!

I also included one pic of the under skirt, made of muslin that I attached the tulle to. I am using it under another skirt as well.

You can make necklaces, bracelets, bows, or turn them into jibbits for crocs!

I bought too many originally and made over 15 necklaces with some already. maybe I'll make more and sell on ebay! ugghh it is just more fun to make them for your kids then others!

lori

ITA! It is more fun to make things for your own kids BUT if you're not going to use them, Ebay is a good way to fund that Disney vacation! Since you've already made the necklaces you could make matching bracelets.

Hi, I've been following this thread since it started and I finally worked up the courage to post. Everyone's outfits are so cute! Like a previous poster said, I didn't even know that my dd should be wearing themed outfits to the parks! She's almost 2 and small for her age. I haven't sewn in a long time but I went shopping and now have a lot of fabric. I made my first pillowcase dress last night and I think it turned out pretty well for my first try (just a pink floral).

I would really like to get an idea of what to make for our upcoming 11/10-11/17 trip. It will be too cold to wear sleeveless, right? I'm sure I could handle making pants but not a shirt with sleeves, although I think I could get someone to do it for me. Or, would it be okay to go with the pillowcase dress with long sleeves under it?

Another question, would it be too matchy-matchy to have a top and pants made out of the same material? I'm thinking it might look like pajamas.

Thanks!

This turned out really nice! I love the detail you put on the back! And I love the ribbons!

I was just thinking about the previous post on the lesson of just buy the fabric when you see it after reading your post. Then reading yours about how you'll wish you had some had. :lmao: :lmao:

I was at JoAnn's last night and it took oh, about all my restraint, not to buy a bunch of fabric because the only thing going through my mind was "If you see Disney fabric buy it because eventually you'll want it". :lmao: The only good thing is going into that store with a time restraint makes it so much easier to resist. I went in looking for red ribbon to spice up DD's shirt. I found red ribbon with black prints that just screamed "Cruella" to me. Then I did find red fabric with doggy paw prints & got that to somehow go. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. So go in for 1 thing of ribbon (and possibly the iron on of Cruella -- was hoping to not have to order on-line) and come out with 3 differnet types of ribbon, Ariel/Nemo/Buzz iron ons & fabric. If I had more time, I'm sure I would have talked myself into a few yards of each of the other Disney fabric.

I saw some Mickey Mouse Halloween ones and thought that it would be good for anyone going to MNSSHP, so was tempted to get some even though we would probably never go during that time. :rotfl2: I might still go back. They also had Mickey & Minnie with hearts, that reminded me of Valentine's day.

I'll have to check Hobby Lobby out, last time I was there I was not too thrilled with their selection but I hadn't read this thread either and now I've got the sewing bug. We are going to see High School Musical on Ice in January, so after this thread I'm thinking I should make her something specific for that, that was not originally on my agenda. :lmao:

speaking of HSM (believe it or not its my dd 3 fav movie!), i was at disney store last night and they have a pretty good sale going on. they had HSM t shirts for 4.99. they were black and silver. my wheels were spinning about the tshirt w/ a funky tulle skirt. but since dd is only 3, i dont like her to wear a whole lot of black- it just looked to "mature" for her. but it would be a great t for the tweens/teens. and my walmart had really cool music note fabric. oooh i have such a good outfit it my head! maybe i should buy the stuff, make it, and store it w/ mothballs for the next 10 yrs!:rotfl2:

A little OT, but when I got married, I made my own wedding dress. After we (me and Mom) bought the fabric, a gorgeous double sided satin, my Mom said, "You know, Teresa, you can NOT make any mistakes on this dress, becasue you won't be able to take them out." I thought to myself, "watch me!" Well, I made some mistakes, and I took them out and redid them, and the dress still turned out beautifully! Mom was so stressed about my wedding, I don't know what she would have done if I had replied, "Done is better than perfect!" but, it is so true!!!

And now, I'm going to use this as an excuse to post my wedding pictures! :lmao: The answer to both of your questions (the ones no one asked yet) is 19(years).

just me

And, just to tie it all in with Disney, there are little hidden Mickey's all over my veil made out of pearls.

WOW! Wonderful job!! I would be so scared to even adjust a size of a wedding dress! I so couldn't make one from scratch! Way To Go! Something to be very proud of. Thank you for sharing with us!:goodvibes jen

On a less than fabulous note, I took my lunch hour today to drive to Hobby Lobby because I saw a fabric there in May (last time I was there. It's not close) and I wanted some to make capri pants for DD.

They have a *ton* of stuff, including Disney, on clearance. And their "regular" shelves are practically bare. :( They were out of the fabric that I wanted though -- and the clerk didn't expect to be getting more -- so it was a wasted trip.

Has anyone else noticed a change in the fabric section at Hobby Lobby? We have a new store near me (about 6 months old) - I was there maybe a month ago and the section was FULL of fabric. I went back Tuesday and almost the entire section had been wiped out. There is no way they sold it all in the last month!! I was short on time so I didn't stop to ask an employee or the manager, but was just curious if anyone knew anything more?

On another fabric note - has any seen any Donald Duck fabric? I'm making pillow cases for my best friend's first family trip to WDW. I have Mickey and Winnie the Pooh fabric for her and her girls, but her husband's favorite character is Donald and I just can't remember seeing any Donald fabric recently.

Ok, here is the latest installment in the "Beginner's Boutique" where nothing is perfect but my daughter likes it. Excuse her hair: she just back from camp and wouldn't let me touch it:

Now she told me she would like a princess nightgown!

I asked the clerk when I was there today. She said they're clearing out the old stuff and bringing in different stuff. She said that they'll have "less of some things and more of other things" but overall the department will be the same size. There was another customer who was waiting, so I didn't ask her to be more specific (particularly about Disney fabric), but she did tell me that she didn't expect to get any more of the particular Disney fabric I was looking for. :(

The one I was looking for was one that I haven't seen anyone use yet. It's got a black background then little flecks of color (mosaic-like) that swirl around and leave profiles of Mickey in the negative space. Has anybody used it?

I'd rather make three dresses from scratch than have to adjust one! I leave that to the experts!

I've noticed the change at Hobby Lobby too! I was telling my sister a few months ago what a wonderful selection they had. But, when I was there the other day, the selection was abuot half of what it had been! What's going on!

I can't remember seeing and Donald fabric lately, but I will keep my eyes open for it!

That is very cute! Now you can tell me how to make one :goodvibes since I can't sew to save my my life. What pattern did you use? The ones I saw in the store were very confusing to me. My DD is a very small 7 YO so she still loves princesses for a while longer I hope.

I bought those Mickey's last month. Can you tell me how you made that bracelet. Thanks in advance.
