Here are a few outfits I made---or as someone else said many pages back--outfits that I bought at Walmart and "pimped" up. For someone who has no sewing ability beyond buttons, I think they came out ok.

Sorry that my photos are GIGANTIC!!

Beautiful! Were the dresses only in little girl sizes? My daughter wears a size 7, she would LOVE this!

Okay Okay I confess..... I'm addicted! I have been following you all for some time amazed with all you untalented people out there! If I could only sew a button!! I am getting a little courage from you all and I am going to attempt a pair of ribbon shorts (if that's what you call them). We just went to Disney this May and there is no date scheduled for the next so I am going to try July 4th colors.

All of the outfits are so awesome! This site is great! O are we still supposed to do housework:)

Welcome from another Louisianian-Thibodaux. Housework? What's that? I spend all of my time either:

1. on this board looking for inspiration and visiting with a bunch of creative ladies

2.ebay looking for inspiration,fabric,embroidery software,etc

3. on the net-doing the same as 1 and 2.

4.taking my DD to her competition cheer group

5.saying hello to hubby:cutie:

6. sometimes sleeping

7 going to sewing class to learn how to operate my machines

pretty much in that order :rotfl:

If you have a little one then remember they have snaps in the inside for diaper changing. Makes life so much easier! Sure you aren't lucky enough fo that though. I am yet to do a pair that small.

Shorts I can usually do if I keep the applique down towards the bottom and not too complex without ripping open.

No such luck. We're in the land of potty training now. No more snap pants. (and no coveralls right now either!)

There have been sooo many cute outfits over the last few days posted here. I'll get to my sewing soon but have been working on new jewels instead. That swirly retro Mickey fabric has finally given me a reason to use my Mickey's & come up with this fringe bracelet.

I know I just posted.

That is one of the cutest braclets that I've ever seen. If you don't sell them, you should.

Hi, I've been following this thread since it started and I finally worked up the courage to post. Everyone's outfits are so cute! Like a previous poster said, I didn't even know that my dd should be wearing themed outfits to the parks! She's almost 2 and small for her age. I haven't sewn in a long time but I went shopping and now have a lot of fabric. I made my first pillowcase dress last night and I think it turned out pretty well for my first try (just a pink floral).

I would really like to get an idea of what to make for our upcoming 11/10-11/17 trip. It will be too cold to wear sleeveless, right? I'm sure I could handle making pants but not a shirt with sleeves, although I think I could get someone to do it for me. Or, would it be okay to go with the pillowcase dress with long sleeves under it?

Another question, would it be too matchy-matchy to have a top and pants made out of the same material? I'm thinking it might look like pajamas.

Thanks!

It would depend on the fabric. If you look through the board, you'll see that many take a bit of the fabric and trim out the other piece. That is, if you make a patterned skirt, take extra to applque onto the shirt or vice versa.

Here is my first attempt at a Disney outfit. I already had this fabric from last summer, when I thought I would make pillowcase dresses  I didn’t want to buy new until I knew if I could do it, so the blue polka dots are not the blue I wanted. All in all I think it turned out ok. I am not thrilled with how plain the top is. I was thinking of adding bows to the waist line or maybe a strip of ribbon with one bow? What do the experts think?

BTW- my model would not put the pink blanket down, so it is hard to see how the dress falls. Sorry! She was also having a very bad hair day :) Which is to be expected when mommy spends all day sewing and no one gets out of pj's until 5 PM! We didn’t want daddy to think we did nothing today ;) I also wanted to add that I did not start with a dirty tee. A sales guy came to the door when I put it on her and she tried to eat mulch and wash it down with my sweet tea while I was talking. Gotta LOVE two year olds:love:

I will appreciate any ideas for jazzing up the top of this dress. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure they had them in larger sizes as they were in the big girls section and not the toddlers. This is a 5 and it was the smallest size available.

That blue is tough to match. I should know, I've been trying to find a perfect match for a month!

You did a great job! I don't think that it needs anything, but you could tack a small bow to the center front neckline. If you want to be a little more ambitious you could applique a small square of the toile onto the t-shirt.

I agree with eeyore3847-just a piece of blue ribbon where the top and skirt meet. You did a great job and your daughter is beautiful!

I love this outfit and your daughter is gorgeous, you are one lucky lady! Here is a link to a website that sells the same type of dress. It might give you some ideas if you want to add something else.

How about making a sash out of the blue dot fabric? That would coordinate the two pieces together. It's cute as is though, and the model is even cuter!

This is adorable! Do you have directionsf or it? I think I could actually do this :)

Cute blue Pooh outfit!!!

Ugh!!! I can't get the search to work for this thread...Does anyone remember (or even the OP) where the Epcot/Small World necklace or bracelet set was??? Was there one??? Am I dreaming it up??? Or does it exist??? :confused3

Am I losing my mind??? (That would be a YES!!!) :lmao:

Thank you all for the positive feedback. I love all of the ideas. If I get ambitious I may try to appliqué a patch of the toile to the top. I also love the sash idea. I also think I am going to add a ruffle to the bottom of the dress in the polka dot with the toile under it. I will also try to add the ribbon to the pants and above the ruffle on the skirt. However all of this will have to wait. I HAVE to clean my house for a party tomorrow night.

stepmom3: Thanks for the link. That site is where I "borrowed" the idea for the top. I love her stuff. I can't figure out if I am doing something wrong or why they look so much better in her site. I may try it again with the red and white Minnie fabric when it gets here.

Also thanks for the comments on DD. She is as rotten as she is cute these days. I think being so stinking cute keeps her out of a lot of trouble :)

I will post pictures of the finished project as soon as it is done. She is outside in it right now  She will not take it off, and what the princess wants....

Here is what I made today for AK:simba: . I hope it won't get too cool that day...

Isabelle said the leopard print ribbon bothered her, so I switched it out for a softer brown. I may add the mickey head to her capris too. The brown top is mine, I haven't finished the applique. DH will have a small mh on left breast, DS will have khaki overalls with the same fabric added and mh.

Adorable!!! I have the Pooh toile and I had almost decided to make a few pillows for DD's room instead of an outfit, but I think I'm back to an outfit now. I like it with the dots. I'd add a ribbon or sash to the top to tie it all in, and that's it! Cute!

I like that a lot. Perfect for a hot day at AK.
