great is Aleene's OK something I can get at like a craft store? Did you have a pattern for the mickey head?..or is it just three circles?

Thanks so much! I think I can handle some of these ideas!

Our group will be me, DH, DS(2 {almost 3}) and some friends - mom, DD(18), DD(15), DD(11)

Any suggestions for matching/coordinating outfits would be appreciated!
!

The plaid fabric is cute and you can do a lot with it. How is this...???????
DH (the tough one)...a button down type shirt that he can wear a white T underneath or....how about using a white T and doing the stripe across the front (like the ribbon t's) by cutting across a row of the blocks on the material and also cutting out Mickey as you go along --does that make sense? Kinda like a band across but more 3-d?
YOU.....Tank top..cool comfy and easy
DS....whatever you make the hubby in miniature (may get the DH more apt to wear it--they like their sons to look like them..lol)
MOM...a button down tank top. (if you cant do buttonholes well do a false front on it--slimming and more mature)
DD's (all of them)....Simple bandana tie back halters or tanks if they dont do halters. SPARKLE THEM! Girls love rhinestones. Maybe make the youngest one's a little less revealing.

Thank you! I was going to get the gem glue but thought it might be messy. It is a much cheaper investment, however, so I think I'll go for it.
The gem glue works great and is easy to use. HINT:::use pointy tweezers to pick up the rhinestones and dip in glue and apply..much easier

No instructions, but here's what I did:
- I made the ribbon loops by cutting 4 in. strips from various ribbons (I varied the ribbon widths) and gluing the tips together.
- I cut ribbon to the length of the bottom of the jeans (it was 12 in. for her capris) - a little shorter is ok
Attatch the ribbon loops to the ribbon strip with glue (I used a glue gun)
- I then glued the strip of ribbon (now with loops) to the inside hem of the jeans - use the exsisting stitches as a guide to get it on straight.
- I finished it off by gluing the leopard print ribbon on the outside hem.
Hope this makes sense, i've been in the sun all day and am getting a little loopy!!! :cool2:

Wouldnt glue gun glue get all icky and sticky in the wash? I never washed anything with it so......?????

FYI

I'm just back from Walmart. They had tons of the pink and black Mickey fabric, the blue Pooh toile was on clearance, the Little Mermaid fabric posted by tnmom, the adorable Pooh and coordinating blue and white dot posted yesterday, and lots more!

OK...Pluto and his leash are glued on, painted, embellished, etc. to the skirt. Now all I have to do is let them dry for a few hours and time to sew the 2 pieces together and put in the elastic. (I think I may have made the channel for it a little too small--oh well I will wing it..lol)

BTW..when you see this thing...there will be approximately 150 rhinestones on his leash alone (all hand glued). Yes I sorta counted. LOL I was curious.

:yay: :yay: I can't wait! I love bling!

Question for TNmom and others who've made patchwork twirl skirts.

I've found a couple of sets of free instructions online for twirl skirts (not patchwork ones though, so I'm going to wing it for the patchwork.)

Kim

Would you pm me the websites? I have been looking for a few to start a skirt as well.

Any craft store should have it - I saw it at walmart last night.
I'm a scrapbooker so I used my circle templates for the three circles for mickey's head. Somewhere there is a mickey head template on this thread that you could use.(around page 20?!)

The drum roll has begun------can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!!

Here's the Mickey outline posted a long time ago :surfweb: I just copied it into word and then you can resize it to whatever you want :cool1:

My DD got upset that she wasn't in the pictures that I posted so here she is...

Just like someone else suggested, she will be wearing this on the plane and when we check in at POP!!!! I hadn't thought of making myself a matching pair, but now I might have to!!!
I can't wait to get some matching ribbon to make some hairbows!

It looks even cuter on her!!!

***SNORT**** My other half suggested something similar the other day.:rotfl: "If you would get off the computer, you might finish some of the projects you need to finish." But I dont really have to get off the computer chair. My sewing table sits right next to it. :lmao: Alll I have to do is spin my chair:rotfl2:

My husband is always suggesting things like that, so hopefully, he will not look over my shoulder and see that I typed that! I like the idea of having the computer and sewing machine right together! Hmm, I wonder if I could do that!

Look what you all have done to me! I think I can actually sew, my home ec. teacher would have been so proud!! My project of the day is a hidden mickey Twirly skirt. I'm jumpin the gun here a bit, DD just can't seem to get the twirl down. Worked with her for half an hour, trying to get her to twirl the skirt, no luck. She just hops all around:yay: Oh, well we have 70 days for her to get down pat!;)

This reminds me of a picture in my mom's high school year book (1960 I think). All the cheerleaders are sitting on the floor with their skirts swirled out just like that! I always loved that picture! This would be a great skirt for MGM too!

Boy, I blink and there's 20 more pages on here. :surfweb: I cant stay on the computer long enough to keep up.

Ok I finished the skirt! I am so happy with myself. Now I thought I would appliqué some stars to match on the t-shirt but now that I see it I think a red t-shirt would look a lot better. I am attempting to post the pictures:

I was thinking of making a scrunchie to go with it, but I think a covered plastic headband might stay in her hair better. Any ideas?

2cutekidz: I love what you did! I saw the swirl fabric at JoAnn's when I bought the fireworks fabric and almost bought some but I didn't want to get ahead of myself. If I can finish this outfit I will go back and see if it's still there.

Thanks for all the ideas and encouragement!

This skirt is cute! Where did you find this fabric? I can think of a million things I would like to try with this. ;)

I have this tool and it does work. However, it is time consuming and the most of the crystals fall off after you wash it. My DD is a competitive cheerleader and cheerleaders like to sparkle :cheer2: so I have found that there is a gem glue at Michael’s (I am sure hobby lobby also) that keeps them on much better. There is nothing worse than spending a ton of time affixing gems to have them fall off the after the first wash and wear. The glue keeps them on a lot longer. Hope this helps.

Lacy

I saw that glue at Walmart last night too. I belive it was with the Aleen's stuff. I wondered if it really worked, thanks for sharing!
