I sorta learned to appliqué this week and have been working on a pirate outfit for DS. It was a lot of fun! Some areas are kind of rough, but he loves it and that's what matters, right!? I think the shirt might be a little small - I used a new pattern and although his weight/height fall in the size 5 range, I think it looks small. May have to make him a 6 - hopefully I can find more fabric. I also used an older pair of jeans just in case I seriously messed them up, so they look a little ratty. Oh well.

All in all, though, I think it turned out ok

LOVE IT!! Your son is beyond cute too! To do the multi quote thing, just click on the little quation marks in the bottom right corner of the posts you want to quote. Click all the ones you want, and then either hit the regular quote button on the last message, or hit post at the bottom of the page. It took me forever to figure out how to do that! I never thought to actually look at what those little buttons at the bottom of the posts were for!

I'm pretty sure they had them in larger sizes as they were in the big girls section and not the toddlers. This is a 5 and it was the smallest size available.

Are you talking about the Minnie red and white dresses from Walmart? I only saw them in the toddler sizes. I would love to get them for my girls, who wear a 6 and 10. When did you find them in the bigger sizes?

Here is what I made today for AK:simba: . I hope it won't get too cool that day...

Isabelle said the leopard print ribbon bothered her, so I switched it out for a softer brown. I may add the mickey head to her capris too. The brown top is mine, I haven't finished the applique. DH will have a small mh on left breast, DS will have khaki overalls with the same fabric added and mh.

Once again, I am stunned by how pretty your daughter is, how gorgeous your yard is, and what beautiful things you make!

Did you make the bow too? I really like that!

Someone had the idea to by a 5t or 4t for the older girls and use them as halter tops. I was skeptical but it looks super cute on my DD8. I am determined to figure out how to post pictures tonight! I'll try to get her to model for me.

I'd love to see it!

How about making a sash out of the blue dot fabric? That would coordinate the two pieces together. It's cute as is though, and the model is even cuter!

I vote for this idea! That would look great having the blue with white polkadots towards the top.

Brain Picking time.....

PLEASE throw some ideas out there for me!

I got 1 1/2 yard of this fabric:
mickey__colorful1.jpg

I have 4 shirts to make with it. (maybe use solid colors that match the fabric to make most of the shirt and then somehow use it for an accent piece?)
(2 adult XXL {1guy/1gal} - 1 adult medium{girl 18} and one 2T{boy 2})

HELP!

I'm intrigued with the strip idea, but am having a hard time visualizing it for all 4 of us. It just really stands out as more feminine in my mind.

I can sew shirts for the guys (like glorib made for her DS) so if you have a clever way to use a solid color fabric and incorporate the patterned fabric into it - that would work too!

The teen girl likes to wear (tasteful/modest) halter tops.

It's a lot harder to do cute things for boys, but I'm seeing some really clever ideas here!

Here are some things I've made these last few nights

For Animal Kingdom:

don't know when dd's going to wear this one:

These aren't finished yet - they are halter tops but I need the red grosgrain ribbon for around the neck - the front view

the rear view:

I think I'm done sewing for a few days - dh says he hasn't spent any time with me since I've started these projects!!!! Actually, I'm just out of fabric, as soon as I get more, I'll be sewing again ;)

I found this dress on ebay and I think its super cute! What do you all think? Like it? Don't like it? (I haven't bought it, so you won't hurt my feelings, and I don't think the seller is on here ;) ).

HLAuburn, I am not sure where the blue fits in. It's a nice accent....hmmmm, I wish it were accented with yellow. Very cute style, though.

The AK shirt is really cute. I like the ruffle around the neck. (They're all cute, I just wanted to single that one out)

I sort of know what you mean, but I think that's why I like it! DD has 2 other outfits with the red, black, and yellow, so this will be something different.

I'm thinking about asking her if she can make it one layer shorter, since DD is only 3. That might be a little more comfortable for the parks and a little less "dressy". What do y'all think?

Make your daughter's halter completely from the fabric. Then make pockets and maybe trim the sleeves for your husband's and son's shirts. You could make your top completely from the fabric or attach a ruffle-trim it in some way but a little girlier than your DH and son's shirts. If you have enough fabric, since your son is only 2 you could also make his shirt completely from the fabric too.
That's what I would do. Have fun with whatever you decide...:)

This is one of my favorites too. I thought about buying it for a future granddaughter. However,by that time it likely wouldn't be in style anymore.

I don't care for it. It's the light blue poka dot tha i just don't feel quite goes correctly. I love when yellow goes with the minnie ideas, but I just don't care for the baby blue. But it could be me.....:confused3

I don't have any great ideas, but I LOVE the Disboard lime green Mickey heads!

Hi everyone! You all do such great work...you've inspired me! I'm a beginning sewer, I've used my machine a few times, but can't use a pattern to save my life! I want to learn how to applique items, but my first attempt didn't go so well. So, I thought I would ask you guys for some tips.

I've already learned that one of my mistakes (a big one) is that you have to put some type of facing under the garment. I have a very basic Singer machine and I was using the zig zag stitch. Does anyone have any applique tips for a beginner like me?? What about stitch size? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

This thread moves so fast...I think my request got lost yesterday.

I requested someone give me the info about the autograph books and the seller of the Cinderella outfit. I cannot PM yet...

All the new outfits are wonderful! You are all so talented!

Thanks in advance.

That's why I like it. The red/white/black/yellow is always cute, but I like that this is a little different.

I love this!!! I think what i really like about it is the light blue added in. It makes it different.
