I haven't been on here in a while, and can't even begin to catch up, but thought I'd post what I worked on yesterday. It still needs hemmed and I thought I'd layer it over leggings with lace on the bottom.

I wish the back panel was closer to the same width as the others, is it bad?

GIRL!!!! That is sweet! I vote for long, but not too long. Calf length? Give it some TWIRL FACTOR! I love the fireworks hair thingy! Make it light up!!!!? Has anyone ever illunated their outfits? If ever there was an occasion to do so, it's Fantasmic!

I can't wait to see THIS posted!

SOOOO much talent!

I love the idea, but I also think that either a sorceror's hat or Mickey in the sorceror's hat would really pull the outfit together. Also, what about doing the skirt knee length (or shorter) and adding some tulle at the bottom to make it really fluffy & full?

I can't wait to see what you come up with--I know it wil be precious!

You are right it needs to light up! I just have to figure out how!!! AB FAB idea!!!

Okay, I know that this is OT. But how many AMYs (any spelling) are on this thread. I know I have seen quite a few.
I am an AMY.

Aimeeg- Love the fantasmic idea. I would make it longer like Mickey's robe is. I also agree that the Hat appliqued on the T would be something a little different and special.

Me too!!

No Way! YOU are so wonderful to post the steps for us! Looks easy. I can do that.

My temporary solution until I can get some new hangers and "duck" tape, I have lots of extra long (size 16  ) pants hangers with clothes pin type fasteners to hold my 2.5 gallon project bags. They don't take very much weight though. In fact, each bag is barely hanging on by the plastic zip-lock zipper. But their off the floor.

Hey! I used to do that, too!
Mine kept falling down, too ...

I TRIED those black-flippy-BINDER CLIPS on plastic hangers, too = same result. :(

That's why I got out the duct /duck tape & stapler :)

I have a big bunch of those pants hangers IF anyone wants them!
We don't use them now & they are practically brand new, too.

aimeeg..I just replied on your yard sale thread but I knew you were here too, I wanted to know how your yard sale went???

I will post here too . . .

It went pretty well. We made about $330. I am mostly pleased that the stuff is gone!!!

We did not have the sale at our house. We lugged all that crap to my Dad's. Whatever did not sell went to Goodwill.

We brought three truck loads of stuff and sold two. I was very pleased with that part. The thing that bothered me a little were some of the shoppers. We saw three kinds.

1. People just out on Satuarday at a yard sale.

2. The racoon scavengers. They brought handfulls of stuff and said I will give you a dollar.

3. The people who pulled up in luxury cars and bought stuff like used Old Navy flip flops! Over half of the people that came drove up in Mercedes, BMWs, Grand Cherokees, and even a Jag! I could not believe some of the crap they bought!! I felt guilty selling it. I do not think I would buy someone elses hand cream!

It was an interesting experience and we made the money we needed for our deposit. I am not sure we will do it again soon. The bake, water and soda sale was a flop! All the tips I received very valuable so thank you to all that posted!

That might be fun to do with tulle. I could just bring tights in case.

I am going to do the hat applique instead. I think that is what the shirt needs.

Great idea girls!!!

So I'm number 3 :dance3:

I am an Aimee too! Just to let everyone know Amy was the second most popular girls baby name of the 1970's.

My parents named me after a Pure Prarie Leauge song!!! I always giggle when I hear it on the radio. I even saved their record.

help please....I am making some outfits for DD's..have a lovely applique (if I do say so myself) of Cinderella, but my older daughter is trying to come up with something to do with Prince Charming...

I did the Cinderella applique with a coloring book picture, but there are no princes in the book...

does anyone have a simple picture of dear Prince Charming? (does he have a name???)

thanks

Go to ivyjoy dot com . A short way down the page is a coloring page search engine. A quick search of "Cinderella" also brought up links with pages of the prince.

*TeresaJoy*, could you please add ivyjoy dot com to your resource site if you haven't already? It's a great coloring book search engine to use for applique patterns. Here, you can get tons of links that Google doesn't hit for character patterns for applique. It'll even link to foreign sites so you'll get a pretty comprehensive list of what's available for each character.

:wizard: When I was planning my DD's outfits last night I had a brilliant idea.

A Fantasmic Outfit!!!

I wanted to make a super cute outfit based on Mickey's Sorceror outfit. My first idea was to make a patchwork twirl skirt with a long sleeve knit top. The top could have an aplique mickey on it. I also thought about using cording as a belt.

I sketched it out but I do not love it. Fantasmic is at night and we are going on March 2nd. I checked the weather perdictions and it will most likely be around 60 degrees. I would love to do a fun fantastic sun dress but that might not be practical.

The problem is I just do not love the outfit. I do not think it is fantasmic enough!!!

Any suggestions????

I like it alot. I think maybe you should look around for fabrics and once you start shopping you might be more excited about it.

You might try getting a shirt with sorceror Mickey on it instead of the mickey head in the sketch.

I say keep working on it you may find more inspiration at the fabric store!

Is there a post that has a list of resources for patterns & such? I'm coming in very late and don't have weeks to go back and read 500+ pages. Thanks.

DD has a Minnie dot pillowcase dress to wear one day. DH suggested I find something matching. This is what I found on an auction site. Will I look silly? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220133559621&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012

I don't think it is silly. I made myself a top. I also bought a red with white polka dot shirt at Lane Bryant, along with a coordinating headband.

It is fun to get in the spririt.

Our family is also wearing matching hawaiien shirts to eat at Ohana's in the Polynesian resort.

PiperPizzaz and lil_ragamuffins thanks for the prince charming links....I think we can find something there...and many other ideas too...

I was really afraid to try an applique idea hearing some of the horror stories, but last night I cut out the Cinderella peices and heat and bonded it to a shirt in under an hour (I do not have a sewing machine so tonight I am hand stiching it down - it relaxes me...)

You are such a good Mom! My DD want me to buy that shirt so badly!! I would not. I bought the black one instead. She still calls it mommy's minnie mouse shirt. Now I am wishing I bought it!

tanyaandallie,

I used bias tape. I think someone around here called it the duct tape of sewing, and they're probably right.

I didn't use a pattern, so I sewed the gathered tulle to my underskirt and used bias tape to cover the tulle (skirt was on the bottom at the feed dogs, tulle was sandwiched in the middle, bias tape was on top under the presser foot). I also used it to cover the seam where the tulle/underskirt attached to the rest of the skirt because some of the tulle was peeking out and I didn't want to hear that it was itching later.

Deb

Thank you Deb!!!! Excellent idea. Let me go dig around and see if I have some. Otherwise I guess it's yet another trip to Walmart!! Otherwise I know I will here her complaining!

HA HA, my uncle sings that song to me every time he sees me!! So much that my mom bought it for me when I moved away!

Ironically I think Jennifer was number 1 and that's my sister's name. Apparently my parents were not very creative :dance3:

Look on the very first post of the first page of this thread for Teresajoy's bookmark site. She keeps alot of good things in there for everybody. It's also linked to all of her posts.
