:wizard: When I was planning my DD's outfits last night I had a brilliant idea.

A Fantasmic Outfit!!!

I wanted to make a super cute outfit based on Mickey's Sorceror outfit. My first idea was to make a patchwork twirl skirt with a long sleeve knit top. The top could have an aplique mickey on it. I also thought about using cording as a belt.

I sketched it out but I do not love it. Fantasmic is at night and we are going on March 2nd. I checked the weather perdictions and it will most likely be around 60 degrees. I would love to do a fun fantastic sun dress but that might not be practical.

The problem is I just do not love the outfit. I do not think it is fantasmic enough!!!

Any suggestions????

DD has a Minnie dot pillowcase dress to wear one day. DH suggested I find something matching. This is what I found on an auction site. Will I look silly? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=012

Oh that would be great !!! I would also take a shirt for DH and applique a small Minnie head on the left chest....careful showing it here as others may now bid....not my size or I know I would :)

snubie - It's perfect! Feminine and adult, but people will be able to tell that she's your daughter!

aimeeg - I really like it! But then, I'm a sorcerer mickey and moon and stars addict!
It looks really cute and it could double as a harry potter theme as well since there aren't Mickey Heads on the skirt.
Sorry. I finished Harry Potter last night and now it's stuck on my brain! :rotfl2:

I made myself a little sewing area in my bedroom. I used to have a room devoted to my sewing, but it was next to my kids rooms and when I sewed in the middle of the night, it woke them up. I could probably get away with it now that they are older, but they took the room over for toys and playstation!

I'll post a picture as soon as I get it tidied up.

Thanks. I really like the idea of the socerer mickey look but I just do not know. I dont think it is spectacular enough.

I love it! It think it would be great for fantasmic! Could you do a sorcerer hat applique instead of a mickey head applique on the shirt?

OK, I'm almost done with my first every skirt with tulle. ugh.

I am worried that the inside of the skirt (where all the layers are sewn to the waist) is going to be itchy b/c of the tulle. I just stitched it all together last night. I'm going to trim and finish off the seams with a zig zag stitch. Will that keep the tulle from scratching? Has anyone else had a problem with the tulle at the waist?

bowling - you can't post pictures untill you've made a certain number of posts. I'm not sure if it's 10 or 20.
Go to the community board and find random stuff to reply to to get your post count up!

aimeeg - thanks! I crack myself up, but I always like to make other people laugh too! (so I look like a little less of a freak. ;) )

Select the photobucket pic you want to share. You'll see 4 boxes under each pic. Copy the entire "IMG Code" box and paste it here in your post. You can try "preview" to make sure it shows up before you post.

Hope that helps...can't wait to see your pics!

celerystalker: yep, your right...the error it came up post count too low...well i guess i need to get posting...

be back soon to show everyone my pics...

I know what you mean! I can't bring myself to cut it up for appliques!
:scared: I really want to do something with the whole piece, but DD already has a few pillowcase dresses, so I was thinking something different...hmmm...still looking for the perfect idea.

What about some capri pants (if the piece is big enough) and then match it with a colored top. Or how about just a skirt w/a colored top.

I have been using Sulky Totally Stable Iron-On Stabilizer and it doesn't want to stick to the T-shirts for any amount of time, it keeps shifting, or just doesn't stick at all. I had no trouble with it on a lightweight cotton fabric, for practicing applique. Any suggestions, I like the Iron-on feature.

HELP - I NEED SOME IDEAS!

I just bought this pillowcase on eBay, but I need some ideas on what to do other than a regular pillowcase dress.

How about something like this?

Karriescustoms013.jpg

Use the pillowcase as the skirt part, maybe a yellow bodice with one of the images appliqued on it?

2cute - Too cute! :rotfl2:
HL - I think you should take her advice. That would be so adorable and pretty easy.

Someone asked how-to-make the ZIP-LOCK HANGER BAGS
that I used to help organize my sewing room ...

HANGING ZIP-LOCK BAGS
to help organize your sewing room.

Here's How to make them!

Click Any Picture to See it Enlarged.

Supplies Needed : 2.5 gallon ziplock bags, hangers, a stapler & BLACK DUCT/DUCK TAPE :)

FYI : Plastic Hangers AND Duct / Duck Tape come in ALL SORTS OF COLORS :)!
You can color coordinate your "hanging bags" with your sewing room's decor ...
OR Color-Code Sort your projects or supplies. Endless Fun!

Suggestions :
1. Use SLIDER ZIPLOCK BAGS ... + position the SLIDER in CLOSED / UP position :)
The first picture shows the Slider-type to use.
I was out of SLIDER 2.5's, when I made these example pixs (below the 1st one).
The bags non-SLIDER bags are harder to use, later, when it's on the hanger.
2. IF hanging things with a bit of weight to them =
Use hangers that have a bit of support, like the one in my example pixs.
It has those little "arms" from top to bottom on the sides of the hanger =
those help a support it, when hanging slightly heavier things!

Here's the picture tutorial : :)

1. 2. 3.

4. 5. 6.

7. 8. 9.

Have a great day!
