I love the CPK outfit and your son's! I bet it took forever to do it for the CPK! I also love the wallpaper border and wall colors in the background!

Sewing - I taught myself. In 6th grade we did have homeec and made an apron, maybe it was 7th. It was always something I enjoyed doing though, just piddling here and there. I would hand sew stuff for my dollhouse, then decided when I had a kid someday I wanted the crib set to be special. So bought a pattern, told DH I wanted a machine and he came home with it. $100 brother from walmart. Worked great. Started on the crib set after buying pattern! I finished it in about a month working here and there. Didn't even have my son for another 2-3 years!

I think the main thing is to just get a machine, read what you need to know as you go along and play around.

I can hand embroider but never thought about it before this thread. DUH! so on my Peter pan overalls I drew the face on and used markers on the map, was tired and didn't want to sew it. It turned out fine and people loved it. Before I sell it I'll hand embroider over the markers. I just used sharpies, they bled a little after being in the hot sun, but not much.

I finally got around to taking a picture of DS in one of the outfits... as well as his CKP "Buddy" matching outfit...

He is Quite a cutie!!! Love the doll's clothes too:)

Actually, once I figured out the shorts the CPK wasn't hard at all. It was still just cutting and ironing on only smaller. LOL
I had a lot of fun decorating the computer/play room (now the computer/sewing room - poor DS!).
If you'd like to see the whole room (before I evicted the toys :rolleyes1 ) you can see pics in THIS POST
(don't want to clutter up the sewing thread with home decorating...LOL)

Thanks everyone - it was fun making that set. (now to figure out this applique satin stich deal!) And, we think DS is pretty darn cute, but we're not exactly objective on the subject! :rotfl:
Now if I can just get some buttons, I will post the other 2 shirts I've made him so far...

HEre is the JOJO outfit I bought from Tink561! Please excuse my dds messy hair she wouldn't letme brush it

So So Cute!!!

Robnkris, Go ahead girl, but that cheetah ribbon really makes me wanna pet your breastessess ..... no pun intended ... LOL :rotfl2:

-Michelle
ROFLMAO!
:guilty: Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't know anyone from here was bidding on it! It was just so darn cute, I just had to share. I just loved that fabric. And in case you were wondering I did NOT place a bid, since I can't sew :sad2:
It went for around $36.00 for 3 yards, that seems like a lot for fabric, not that I would know :rotfl:

So, sorry again :flower3:
I don't think she meant anything by it :goodvibes

I do think the ribbon draws a lot of attention to the breastesses. I hope nobody really pets me! :rotfl:
I promise not to pet you, but I might steal your shoes ;)

OK, putting down the knitting needles (Damned afghan!) this weekend long enough to try to get DD's birthday Disney Cuties dress done. Changed my mind on the pattern, but need to make sure I have enough of the contrasting stripe to make a certain "twirly" style top I have recently run into a pattern for. Thinking about enlarging a cutie minnie face on the copier and making an applique for the bodice. I ain't skeered. I laugh in the face of applique-ing! Ha Ha Ha Ha. I'll post pics on Sunday. It has to be finished by then, her party is Wed. If there is no minnie face, assume that the applique went very wrong. Its a good possibility.

Keep your crafty fingers crossed for me.

AND, I've been trying to find a pattern for a 1920's style evening/flapper dress- you now something Roaring 20'sish and can't find a darned thing, so if you have or have seen LMK!

...t.
Good luck!
Ok!! To say that I have been busy is an understatement!!! DS plays travel ball and has had 2 games this week!! My sister is getting married TOMORROW so that's a whole nother can of worms!! I am SELF EMPLOYED and my husband is taking 16 hours this summer semester!!! I have a DD that stays at work with me. . BUT ANYWHO!!!

I have worked on a little red and white dress from Walmart. . .will post as soon as I get her to put it on!!! She likes it and it fits like a shirt (they only had a 3T)

But I have completed a WHOLE OUTFIT!!! (Please hold the applause til you see it !!!)

I will post pictures of her IN IT later today or maybe tomorrow!! I still have to alter the strap on the bridesmaids dress that I have to wear tomorrow!!!
I love it! You did a great job.

They're both as cute as can be! That CPK really looks like him!

I need to clarify something on the aplique, I only sewed around the edges, not the inside of the little fairy. Thank you for all the praise though, I find it kind of addicting

I've taught myself too. I've mostly sewn home decor with a few costumes here and there. I wanted a custom look for draperies and such, but didn't want to pay the high prices. I just find inspiration from magazines and photos and figure it out myself.

My aunt (tried) to teach me to hand embroider when I was very young. I hope some of it comes back to me when I attempt applique.

Your room looks great. I love the Mickey mirror.

TravelinGal - I so need to figure out a room we could do that to! It looks so nice! It is like a sophiticated mickey look! It is so nice! Not sure whether I liked looking at the toys or mickey stuff better! I LOVE both!

Or at least that he's super hot!

Just kidding, wear your breastess emphasizing shirt w/ pride.:thumbsup2 I think it's win win- you made it AND it makes the girls look good. Who doesn't want that. As a matter of fact I'm thinking of making one for myself now- maybe it'll detract from my mid-section:rotfl: :rotfl:

...t.

OMG...this cracked me up! RobnKris-love the shirt BTW. A few years ago I was so proud of myself because I made this Mickey parts shirt with the gloves, pants shoes and Mickey head floating around on the top (I ironed it all on)...anyhoo, I put it on and DH announces that it looks like Mickey's two gloves were groping me. :rotfl2: Never did wear the shirt...thought I'd look all pornographic going around Disney that way. It did make me think about placement of things after that though! Now I'm one gal who doesn't want too much attention in that area, my girls are big enough all on their own. But...if say, someone like Johnny Depp was around...I think I'd be okay with a quick feel! :lmao: (As long as DH wasn't looking). ;)

UMMM yeah, even if DH was looking! :rotfl2:

Linda did you win they fabric? Kelly and I shared an auction with a few yards of that fabric a while back, it is really cute!

TravelinGal the boy and CPD matching set is adorable, disneyfreak74 I love the halter/skirt outfit, and disneyworldmama your DD is darling, messy hair and all!

Dis member the1evilqueen made the necklace that my DD is wearing in the auction, she also made the fun button fringe bracelet a week or so ago. Great quality and prices! :)

Michelle you will get to meet both of my DC at the Hancock meet up...tell DH you will be in good company! ;) All of my DD's bows are made by another ebay member...I cannot make bows to save my life!

To the member who made the JoJo bow posted a page or two back, did you make your JoJo clay center too? way cute, love it! :)

If anyone else here makes bows please feel free to PM me...I would love to see what fellow Dis members can do!

Thanks to everyone who complimented my Epcot/Small World outfit and/or my DD!

If I missed anyone, I am sorry...willcheck in again later today!

Dena

I have been lurking here and have to say all these outfits are adorable. I cannot sew at all. If anyone is selling anything on ebay for a girl size 8 please let me know. We are going in Dec and I would love to get her some custom made clothes.

What patterns do you use for this style dress/top?! I've been looking but can't find any.

I know they are stripwork but I can't find any patterns like this. HELP!!! PLEASE?!?

I have a question for those that posted pics with the polymer beads...It was a while back in the postings, so I forget, but did anyone make them themselves or were they purchased that way? I bought a polymer clay set and was curious about how complicated and time consuming the process is. I haven't read the directions yet (its all still in the box). Just wondering about the degree of difficulty involved.

Right now I'm working on a pirate shirt for my DD, hopefully I will have time over the weekend to finish it and then I will post pics. Found my Mickey studded jeans, so I will post those as well. :upsidedow

I saw that too. How does that work, with the pattern I mean. I am definately going to need a pattern if I'm going to try to make it.

I think someone awhile back was looking for a PINK PRINCESSES TOILE. There's some on ebay right now.

I finally got around to taking a picture of DS in one of the outfits... as well as his CKP "Buddy" matching outfit...

I love that!! I'm just glad my dds didn't see that or they'd be wanting matching outfits for their Baby Alives or something! Great job!

But I have completed a WHOLE OUTFIT!!!

Very cute combination of patterns, I really like it!

Here's a few outfits I wanted to show off. First this is a pair of jeans that jessica made for me. She posted them a while back and now I thought I'd have dd model them. They are a little big because I wanted to make sure they still fit well in December. Jessica does phenomenal work :cool1: Thank you!!!

Next is my version of the friends around the world outift. Not as detailed as Dena's but good for a beginner. My goal is for dd to be able to wear it as a dress if it's warm in December and with jeans if it's cold. I'm going to make jeans with a red ruffle around the base for them but haven't yet. I also haven't done the buttons yet. I'm still afraid of them :rolleyes1

I have the ebook. It comes with a pattern in adobe acrobat. You just print it, tape the pages together and then cut it out for your size. I've only used ebooks so I don't know how it compares to regular patterns. But I really like it :cool1:

Here are some bows, kind of boring

I know that your original post was a while ago but do you know if walmart still carries these or if joann carries them, it is so hard for me to keep up with this thread....everyone is so crafty (which I am not) if anyone has any easy non sewing ideas for girls or boys I'd love them! I have a DD6 & DS2....thanks so much for your help!!
