:scared1: Yikes!!! I mean it is beautiful but $660. That's more than my mortgage.

Holy Cow!!! I didn't check it out so glad you posted the price. More than my mortgage, too! Just goes to show you....some people have more money than....anything else!!!

I'd like to know also, I've checked everywhere and can't find it. :confused3

I don't know where Nana got her's, but I have the same fabric and I got it at Rag Shop (which is now going out of business).

I just find a font I like in Word, make it to the size I want, print it out, then I trace it out onto the fusible stuff.

I found the slipper by just doing a google image search for "cinderella slipper"

Thanks guys for the compliments! You made my day! :flower3:

Thanks for the info on the font. I was afraid you were going to say that. We don't have word! I think I can have my friend do it for me though. I used to be able to find some good ones by using clip art but no more.

Here's some things I made in the past 2 days since being inspired by this thread. I wanted to try out the outfits for Disney on other material before using my Disney stuff so here goes. :)

This shirt will go w/ a pair of red pants I'm going to make and have some of the Veggie Tales ruffle at the bottom. The boys will have matching button up shirts from this too and maybe an applique type tee.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the compliments on my kiddos and their July 4th shirts that I posted yesterday. I am making something today, not sure what though. I have so many things dreamed up, not sure what to do next!! I'll surprise ya!!!!:goodvibes

I love the outfits! Your kids are too cute, too! Your landscaping is lovely!

Wow, that's the first time you've made anything!? That looks great, and professional! Your daughter is gorgeous!

I think it looks great! I had the same problem with clumping when I tried the stitches closer together. So, I just had to settle for a further apart stitch. I don't know how the back is supposed to look. But, why isn't there stabilizer on 1/2 of it? Are you supposed to take it off after you stitch it?

Wow, it's absolutely adorable!! I think the pink apple and such look great with the outfit!

I'm doing a Buzz Lightyear set for DS next. Hopefully, I'll have it finished in a couple of days. This whole work thing is cutting into my sewing time, lol.

I can't wait to see the Buzz outfit!! I'm always on the lookout for cute ideas for Sawyer.

COuld someone explain how to use a stabalizer? I've been working on appliques, but have no idea what a stabalizer is. I thought it was an iron on on the back side, but what I bought did not iron on. I know this is a dumb question, but I am a beginner willing to learn. TIA.

I used fusible interfacing that I bought at WalMart. It came in a plastic bag for 97 cents. With this stuff, you just iron it on the back of the shirt, or whatever you're going to applique. Not a dumb question at all!

All of your outfits are so sweet! I can't wait to see what you do for boys!

I was asking for ideas for an outfit for DS1 to match DD's outfit. She is wearing custom princess overalls for DTD and BBB then changing into Cinderella dress for 1900 Park Fare. I was thinking of something like I'll be your prince charming. If you have any ideas that would be great!

Hmmm.... Prince Charming in Training. I'll have to pull out our pics from 1900 Park Fare. Ya'll will have a great time though -- at least we did when we went there.

stepmom3, I really like the necklaces. We aren't big jewelry people in this house, but I do like the simplicity of these. My girls may actually even wear something like this.

Do you think it looks weird with the apple, etc in those colors - I felt like I had to stick with the pink, yellow, blue to go with the fabric in the top rather than the traditional red for the apple.
What do you all think?

Nice work, and I think you made the right choice sticking with the pink for the apple. Helps keep it all together.

I can't believe it went for that much. If I could figure out how to make a pettiskirt...I would be on my way.
I'm going to recreate :rolleyes1 it for my DD for our next cruise. I have the DCL Jacket that I can use, and I ordered the white pettiskirt this week..:rotfl:
I just need some Navy ribbons and I'll be all set.
Can you imagine the staff's face, when they see that I've defaced the DCL uniform...:rotfl:

Ahh.... but she'll look so cute!!!

All of these new outfits look great!!!

Any more tips on applique ---- especially around curves and corners???? I have been practicing with a stabilizer and it's not very pretty yet??? TIA!!

I am no expert -- not by any means, but I am improving. I just have to take things really slow. Seriously on some corners and curves I will do one stitch at a time. I'll lower the needle (since that helps hold the fabric in place) and raise the presser foot to move the fabric after each stitch.

It has really given me an appreciation for some of the outfits out there. Also, now, i don't think they are so expensive because I am more aware of how much time has been put into them.

You'll get it. Just go slow.

My poor DH he really wanted a daughter. I guess it's one of those be careful what you wish for scenarios. I'm so glad he doesn't look at receipts:rolleyes1
He already thinks the boys have too many clothes. Poor guy has no idea.

My mom had 3 boys and then finally me. (Yes, I'm the baby and the only girl, and life was very good growing up. :rotfl2: ) Anyway, she used to always say you could never run out of ways to spend your money when you had a little girl.

If you search petticoat, instead of pettiskirt, you will find the prices are cheaper and alot of them, are exactly the same.
I also have the name of a wholesaler, who I've been in contact with, but I can't give out my source yet...I'm seriously thinking of just selling pettiskirt outfits. I love them!!

I love them, too. Good luck with this new venture.

NanasCustomCreations, the outfits look great. Good luck to you, too.

Well, I hope to get some sewing done today. I'm working on my first twirl skirt. AND on my first skirt you would think that I wouldn't try the patchwork style and that I would use some old fabric that I have lying around. You know, to practice on. But NOooooo. I'm using the good fabric I bought, and I'm trying to do a patchwork-type skirt. Oh well.... to late to turn back now. We'll see how it turns out.

Are there any Australian Dis'ers out there? I thought I have seen a few :) I am desperately searching for Wiggles fabric. We are going to see the Wiggles live in August. Since finding this board I am addicted to customs, so little Katie must have the perfect custom for the show. I have looked everywhere online and at every fabric store close to me. I was wondering if someone from Australia (or anyone more search savvy than me) could point me in the right direction online of overseas fabric stores. I found some one EBay, but they are all 100% polyester or just fat quarters and I need a few yards of material. Thanks in advance. I really appreciate the help. I know Katie will also :)

Have you seen Mono~rail's wiggles outfits she is making for her twins? They are applique's of the wiggles and they are adorable. She used really simple shapes to make the guys and painted their faces on. We should get her to post some more pics for you and maybe you could get some ideas from that.

The fabric is a Quilting fabric from Timeless Treasures from their Pirate's Cove collection. The place I got it from Fabrics.com did not have very much and I cleaned them out. search for Quilt fabrics

I tried to do the quote thingy in my last two posts, but it looks like it didn't work - what am I doing wrong?

It looks like you deleted the end-quote html info. It looks like this: "[/QUOTE]" If you don't have both the beginning and end quote tags, it won't know what to do with the quote. If you want to shorten the portion of the message you're quoting, you can... just be sure to keep the [/QUOTE] at the end.

Great outfits everyone! (My DS was crazy about Veggie Tales when he was little.)

Hi all

I am from Australia and have to have a little laugh to myself re the Wiggles fabric. I see lots of your stuff on these boards and would love to make them but we can not get the material or it cost a fortune for shipping. I especially love the pillow patches(I think that is what you call them) of the princess but I have looked and we have nothing like it. I would also love some appliqued Animal Kingdom Mickey ears but again it seems a lot to get them shipped out to Australia when buying on Ebay. Anyway I do not know of any fabric shops on line in Australia but if you let me know what you need I can go to our local fabric shops takes some photos of material post it and if you want arrange to send it to you. Let me know.

Ps we are comming to WDW in October so trying to work out what I can make for DD 5 to wear

I don't know who's quoting you prices, but I just shipped a huge box for only $20.00 a normal size box costs me around $10.00...

I use fusible stablilizer. You just iron it onto the back of the inside of the garment. It works great for tees or anything that might stretch, and it really makes a nice applique. If you have a fabric store, just ask the lady. I would not get the stick on kind. It gums up your sewing needle and it's impossible to tear away when you're finished.

Is this the same as the fusible interfacing I used? Or, am I gumming up my machine using that?

I have seen Mono~rail's Wiggles outfits. They are beautiful. I am not sure that I am up to par with her talent :) I have never tried to appliqué, but I am willing to try. I have been getting so much better at the tee shirt dresses and was planning a Wiggles skirt with a white tee and a few appliqué type things I found on eBay. Thanks for the idea though. I hope Mono~rail was able to get her back and didn’t have to start over.

Interfacing is meant to be left in the garment as a way of keeping an area stiff, like a collar, or behind buttonholes. I never use this stuff. Most of it, you have to sew in, I haven't seen a whole lot that is fusible.
Make sure if you're doing appliques that you're using stablilizer not interfacing. The stablizier is thinner and has almost a paper feel about it.

I don't know..... You might surprise yourself. The Wiggles outfit was Mono~rail's first attempt at appliqueing!

You mentioned you use tear away stabilizer. Do you tear it away around the applique after you're done leaving just what is around the applique or what? I'm a little confused how this is used.
