Oh, that's going to bug me....what IS the name of the elf dentist?!?!

Hermie! (yes, I had to correct it but we had a discussion about it so I got mixed up again! -- Now when I hear Hermie I think of "Hermie the worm" not the dentist elf -- so couldn't remember Herbie or Hermie!) I asked DH because he knows *everything* but it even stumped him.

I could tell you that he was fixing the teeth on the dollies when he first got yelled at by the head elf.

That he was going to be "independent together" with Rudolph.

Basically the entire movie but I had no idea what his name was, so we looked it up.

I made this yesterday. It took me a long time  The pattern said it was an easy 2 hour fashion:lmao: It was harder because I had to cut the pattern at the shoulders otherwise the princesses on the back would have been upside down!

I have to make the pants to go with it still. I didn't get enought fabric to finish. It will be for my niece.

I think it's adorable. Great job!

Did you use Butterick B5019 for your pattern? (Someone posted that pattern number earlier in the thread and I am waiting for them to go on sale again.) If so, I'm a little disappointed that you had to cut the pattern at the shoulders -- because I'd hoped to do mine a different fabric on front/back like some of the boutique examples we've seen -- and I'm not sure I'm "good enough" to mess with the pattern!

But I think yours is really cute! :)

Yes it is Butterick B5019. It wasn't too hard to alter the fabric/pattern. I just stitched it back together at the shoulders. It is easy in the sense that the pattern is just one big piece you cut out of the fabric and then put bias tape all around the edges. I added the ruffle to the front.

Try it it wasn't too hard just time consuming.:headache:

I think you did a great job. I like that you added the ruffle. This on my long list of outfits to make. I had also planned to cut the pattern at the shoulder to add a different fabric.

How far up into MI are you? We have a Hancock here in Toledo and it sounds like it would be closer than Indiana. I can see if they still have it next time I'm out there but it would probably be the beginning of next week.

Just wanted to say hey there. Looks like we live in the same city. What part of town r u from. Feel free to pm me if you'de like. Im really not crazy, I have 4 daughters (4,4,6, & 7) and I noticed your DD is about my twins age?

Well reguardless, nice to see a neighbor.:cool2:

Thanks! Maybe I will give it a try next time Butterick patterns go on sale at JoAnns. It could be cute to do something like this for MVMCP, then I could layer it over a tee, or a turtleneck -- whatever suits the weather.

BTW, I like your added ruffle. Did you add it to the back piece, too, or just the front?

We used to have Hancock Fabrics in the Columbus area, but they all closed, too. :( I think Toledo might be my closest one. We ought to do a DISboards meet-up at the Toledo Hancocks! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Count me in if you all meet up. There is a pretty nice park outside there also, and a McDonalds across the street if y'll are thinking about bringing the kiddies.

What do you think?

I think... that is absolutely adorable! The two fabrics work well together.

OK! When I first went through the pages I had to catch up on there was a name for the fabric nana used in her around the world outfit, I have been through the past 3 pages SEVERAL times, and I can't find the name again! My computer crashed earlier when I had "copied" the name to "paste" it in Ebay. Please help someone! :flower3:

 I thought I had a Hancock fabric an hour from my home, I visited the website yesterday and nothing came up for Michigan, Nothing!! So I looked up a number through msn search, and the number has been disconnected. So the closest Hancock is in Indiana 3+ hours away :sad1:

I didn't notice if anyone responded back with the name of the fabric... it is "Friends Around the World".

I believe Hancocks is going through Chapter 11 reorganization and is closing down lots of stores. I used to have one about 10 minutes away from me, and almost never went. Of course now that they are gone I find myself whishing they were still there. And instead I make the trip into town from the 'burbs to get to one now.

What do you think?

I think it looks great you did a really good job. You'll have one happy niece.

Are there any Australian Dis'ers out there? I thought I have seen a few :) I am desperately searching for Wiggles fabric. We are going to see the Wiggles live in August. Since finding this board I am addicted to customs, so little Katie must have the perfect custom for the show. I have looked everywhere online and at every fabric store close to me. I was wondering if someone from Australia (or anyone more search savvy than me) could point me in the right direction online of overseas fabric stores. I found some one EBay, but they are all 100% polyester or just fat quarters and I need a few yards of material. Thanks in advance. I really appreciate the help. I know Katie will also :)

Have you thought about using sheets for fabric? Wiggles fabric is hard to find. We just used Wiggles colors and I cut out the Wiggles yellow "bubble" from a pillowcase. Just a thought... :)

Okay, Now I'm getting ticked. I took a break from my feverish knitting (I have a nephew due in a few weeks) to scan in some material I have a ton of and I NO- wait a minute, yes, it worked!! Here I have 4 yards of this tink fabric. If you want it, make me an offer. I bought it 3 years ago before my daughter was even born on the chance that one day I might have a girl and I've done nothing with it. I thinkI was planning on a valance or something for a baby room) But I am keeping a yard (leaving 4 )to make her a halter and add some to maybe those sparkly jeans at the childrens place. The fabric is sparkly, if you can't tell and the pic is blown up and for comparison the tinks are about 1.5' from the extended toe to the tip of the left (tinks left) wing.
DH thinks I should make something w/ it (since I have it ) and put it on e-bay but I'm not so sure about selling my stuff on e-bay. I just thought someone here might like it. pm me if you're interested, I'd be willing to trade too... if someone wanted to swap some left over fabric or other supplies.
now back to my knitting- then on to the midnight viewing of HP and the Order of the Phoenix :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Here's my latest creation. It's another "homemade" as opposed to "custom", but my girls love them. DS wanted in the picture, even though he doesn't have a "custom" on. Sorry for the picture quality. I don't know what happened.

A close up of the applique that I did on the sewing machine. It's my first try at appliqueing.
MinnieApplique.jpg

As I said, I sewed the big Minnie applique on the machine. The little Mickey heads around the bottom were another story. It was too hard on the machine, so I hand stitched some of them. Neither way turned out that great. I wished the Minnie applique stitch was closer together, but I couldn't get it to work. I stitched around it twice. I didn't know if that would work, but it looked better. I was too scared to go around a third time. Has anyone done it like that?

Was it "smiles around the world" from Quilters Roundup dot com?? Sorry if this is not it, or you've already been answered...I have several pages to read and I'm afraid I won't find YOUR post again if I read all the way through without responding!!

I would LOVE to meet you guys there!! I'm just in Medina !!

Great work everyone! I bought fabric this weekend for a halloween twirl tutu for my DD2. Just need a rainy day to get started!

Can someone tell me how to multi quote???

Blakely

I don't know the name of the fabric you are looking for. If you are looking for a specific fabric at hancocks I can look for you and get it if we have it. I have at least 2 right around me! Let me know!
Thank you so much for being willing to help! I don't know if the fabric I want is at Hancock or not. lol When I found out the Hancock near me closed I was bummed! Didn't mean to sound like they were related :goodvibes

We are roughly here.....

This is a GREAT idea! Wish I didn't live so far away :( Wonder if I could talk DH into bringing me there on a day off, if he ever gets one again.....

I tried that site and the name but nothing came up :confused3 Thanks for your help though. I did find it on Ebay, but I really don't want to pay 4.00 to ship one yard of fabric:scared:

Thank you! That was the name!! That stuff is sooo cute! Why did they have to close before I went and took a peek! GEEZE!!

Well I met the DISer marciemi tonight. She was really nice! I don't know if I can post her pic or not, I will wait until I get the ok.
