Has anyone sent their preteens to one of the character buffets without an adult? I called yesterday to check on available ADRs for a character breakfast and we had some choices but the CM wasn't able to tell me whether it would be okay to send DD and her BFF into the restaurant alone. They are both nearly 12 years old (and paying DDP adult prices). I do NOT eat breakfast at all, coffee and the occasional bagel is my norm and I don't want to use a TS for a character buffet.

While I probably would not have considered this with DS at that age (not only would I be concerned with his manners but also how many plates he might drop:rotfl: ), DD can easily function at a buffet on her own:) I intend to stay close by and have a cup of coffee at the counter service restaurant, etc. depending on where they choose.

Anyone?

I think it would be fine. I think you should go to check them in and let the hostess know you will be nearby. Are you giving them money or letting them use the room key? If the room key, make sure she knows how to use it or you can come back at the end of the meal and sign off.

This shouldn't be a problem. While dining at Chef De France in Epcot the table next to us had 4 lovely preteens dining alone. They had no problems at all and we enjoyed their company. If their comfortable on their own I would allow it. Enjoy.:)

We're going during free dining. It's good to hear that others have done it ~~ sometimes I think I'm on the other side of the fence for most things;)

I'll have to look at our ADRs. We already have Chef Mickeys for lunch (which I am dreading spending my TS on, lol, when I could be at Kona Cafe or Wave instead) and they now want a character breakfast as well. At least at CM I'll find things to eat that I'll enjoy. I guess I overthink their "worth to me". I can't help thinking that for the same TS I could be at LeCellier:)
