Hi
I was thinking about getting my 3 1/2 year old one of the kid digital cameras, like fisher price or v-tec. Does anyone have them? What do you think? Do they work? Are they easy to use? Do they go on sale? Will my son be able to use it easily? He constantly wants to take my camera. He broke mine last year at Disney World. So now he is not aloud to touch mine.

Thank you

Honestly, I am buying my 4 year old a cheap real dig camera. We had a dora one, all plastic and tough, but really really horrible pics, very overpriced, IMHO. I felt bad that she couldn't print any pictures from them. They looked really bad.

The v-tech camera is a waste of money, and dealing with their customer service was a joke. They replaced the camera but it broke within minutes of opening the box and then refused to replace the second one. The cameras would freeze after taking a picture and the only way to reboot it was to remove the batteries.

Sorry you had bad luck, I bought 2 of these for grandkids 2 years ago and they both still work great. Grandkids are now 8 and 6 and still love them. Here is a link with 266 reviews of the Vtech Kidizoom camera. Just remember this is a toy and it is not going to take as well as a real camera. With the games and other features kids love it, plus they can take movies with it.
They come in several different colors. With or without the case. I paid around $34 without the case on sale at Amazon. I'm waiting for another sale on them for my youngest 2 grandkids this year.

We bought the Fisher Price kids camera and it was awful. Pictures came out blurry. It was very easy to use though but not good for developing pictures.
We took it back and got the Kodak easy share for kids. I found it at Toys R Us for around $60. It is an excellent camera for a kid. DD is 6 and figured it out. We did have to buy an extra memory card for it which was around $10 because the camera only held 6 pictures. It also came with a free case.

We had the fisher price one, so I'm answering based on that.

We got them when my kids were 2 and almost 4. The 2 yo had a bit of problems at first, but got it pretty fast. The almost 4yo had no problems. I've never seen a single kid come in and have a problem with it. The only problem they have is that you can delete the pictures pretty easily

The quality was never an issue with us because we never printed anything. The kids were just excited to see the pictures THEY had taken. At the preschool level I think this is okay.

I'm sure they do go on sale from time to time and you may be able to find a deal on a place like ebay too.

Honestly I think they're good for the 3-5 crowd. After that I thinkt he kids are going to care a lot more about the picture quality, but at that age they're just amazed there are ANY pictures. I think we'll be buying my almost 6yo a real digital camera soon (a cheapie of course) that can take some different pictures, but I'm trying to balance that out with his 18 month younger brother who still is pretty rough on toys

I bought my daughter one a couple years ago talk about a piece of crap. We ended up getting her a cheap digital on Ebay for less than 10 dollars much better way to go.

My dd15 had the fisher price film camera when she was little. That thing took great photos. I was really impressed with it.

My ds11 had a Disney digital - save your money - really not worth it!

My niece has the fp digital, I don't know if it's good or not.

We purchased the v-tech one for our DDs 3 years ago and it worked ok. The pictures were not the best quality, but for a 2 year old they were fine. I think that she enjoyed playing the games on it more than taking pictures at times. However, for a toddler it worked fine and took a lot of drop;ping without any issues. We would still have it if our St. Bernard puppy hadn't chewed it to pieces. As a quick replacement we bought the Crayola one as that was all the local stores had, and we didn't care for that. Our girls are not 5 and 4 and I'm thinking about purchasing a cheap digicam, but am cautious due to how often they drop my camera as well as their leapsters.

My MIL bought my DS the Fisher Price version as a gift a few years ago. We had to ask to return it because the pictures were really blurry and the thing went through batteries like crazy. My cell phone took better photos.

My son ended up using an old digital camera when we decided to upgrade.

We bought the FP camera. I paid $5.00 on Craigslist for it and well I think the $5.00 was too much. I actually thought about just buying her a really cheap adult digital camera. She is 4 and uses the FP camera alot but the pictures stink.

I would have been very angry if I bout it brand new for $40 or $50!

Funny I often thought of letting her use an old picture phone...
