Kids CS menus - buying sides seperately

I'm wondering when paying OOP for a kids meal, if they sell any of the sides separately? Or are the "kids picks" just sold as is, with only certain substitutions allowed. I tried looking at pictures of menus, so I couldn't really tell.

I'm wondering because there will be times when DS3 will want to share with me, since he prefers the kind of food I eat, so he'll have a bit of what I'm having. However, he might still want one of the sides (especially if he sees his sister with something such as a cookie etc), and then there will be DS1 who will be sharing off our plates and who will be too young for his own meal, but we'd like to maybe buy him applesauce or yogurt.

Or would it just be easiest to buy such foods at the resort and pack it in a cooler?

We only heard about buying sides for kids while we were dining at LTT recently. Our server actually brought it to our attention. We were able to order a side of macaroni and cheese and a side of grapes. I think if you ask, you should be able to get them. This was perfect for our 2 year old.

I am curious about this too. When paying OOP, we usually buy one kids meal for the boys to split and then bring sides/snacks in a cooler.

Generally, you can order anything on the menu ala carte at the counter service places.

Last year, we were told by a CM that we could use snack credits to buy yogurt & other sides for DD.

Yes, they will sell sides individually. We do that a lot as our DD is vegetarian. She often can't eat any of the options but will make a meal of sides plus something from the regular menu.

One thing to be aware of. The menus are VERY poorly written at Disney. They don't actually list the foods and options that are available at each location. They only list a chosen few options. If you've seen something on a kids menu elsewhere that isn't listed, ask for it. Odds are they have it. It just doesn't appear on their menu.

Oh, I don't know if I could get myself to use snack credits on such normally inexpensive food, of course depending on what they charge though LOL.

Even though I just added the DDP to our package, but am considering removing it and paying for everything out of pocket... but good to know that they offered it extra

That's so good to know. I can see how the menus might make it quick & easy for many people on the DDP, although not all, but good to know that we can get them individually and that we can ask for things not listed

We did the QSDP & were there for 6 nights so we had 24 snack credits between Dh & I, which was more than enough to be able to share a few healthy options with DD who was only 2 at the time :goodvibes On our last day we had 8 credits left so we were in the gift shop picking out items to use up the credits.

I can completely see how that would work out well with the current QSDP :) Makes me wish they weren't doing away with the 2nd snack next year, because I'm having a hard time deciding between QSDP, DDP or paying entirely OOP and the 2 snacks a day per person could have helped swing it. My family is just looking forward to at least a snack a day, but we'd have been willing to share the additional ones with the baby ;)
