I can't remember the post where I read this, but is it true that if you have an almost 3 year old you can have them participate in the kids club as long as you are there?

The reason for this post is my daughter and my niece are going to be almost 3 when we sail and this may be a good alternative to have some "play time" instead of in the nursery.

Please let me know.

I doubt it. They will sometimes allow "almost old enough" kids to move up to the next level, but I've never heard of them taking an "almost 3-year-old" at the bottom level of the system.

This post by Webmaster Michelle outlines the kids clubs rules and the times that parents may accompany children as a family in the clubs. It is stuck on the top of our Cruise Board, but here is the link to help you find it:

My DD was 3 months shy of 3 when we cruised. I took her to the OC the first time they had famiy time there and struck up a conversation with one of the CMs about what a neat place it was and how it was too bad DD was a few months shy of being able to participate (she really did love the place - more so when it wasn't full of kids). The CM invited us to participate together and pointed out some of the best activities on the 3-4yr Navigator. Said that as long as a parent was with her she could come. Now, I don't know whether you need the invite, because DH took her too and I'm sure the same CM wasn't always around. She never got one of the official name tags, she wasn't registered. Her favorite thing was to participate in the songs and crafts.

Don't overlook the family time in the nursery, though. They have Mr. Potato head, a big kitchen play set, sit-n-spins and other things that my DD thoroughly enjoyed. I was afraid she would find it too baby-ish, but she found plenty of things to do for the 30 min snippets we were there.

On our last cruise I had one that was 2 months shy of 3 (and FULLY potty trained) and she was allowed to participate AS LONG AS ONE OF US WAS THERE. She also participated in the show at the end of the cruise and got her own t-shirt and went on stage with the other kids (they reserve seats in the front row for parents of the little ones "just in case"). My 1-1/2 year old was NOT able to do these things. For your almost 3 year old all you have to do is ask!!
