Kids birth certificates

I know I probably should go to the bank, find them, copy them.... but is it really necessary??? They are 5 and 8.

Necessary for what? Your post doesn't say. If you are asking about air travel no one under 18 needs ID.

Necessary for what? it is always nice to have them in case anything goes wrong but there is nothing you would need them for.

ID is not required for travel for children under 18. I suppose they are nice to have and take this with a grain of salt because it's just my experience, but my 6 yo has flown something like 35 round trips in his lifetime and the only time I was asked for ID was for international travel (his passport).

I just wasn't sure if they ever checked at the airport. Guess I won't worry about it.. thanks.
