I know this has been addressed lots before, but the search feature to look up past threads is not working right now.

Anyways, how old were your kids when you took them to WDW the first time? We (DSis, DMom, DNiece and I) will be going to WDW, and DN will be 7 months old. Young, I know, but just wondering how old your kids were/will be on their first visit? Any tips? We've been 4 times before without kids, so this will be a first for us. Thanks!

Went with DD inutero ;) and again when she just turned 2. We then went when 2nd DD was 2 and the older DD was 5. Absolutely LOVED that trip! That will be the cherished favourite for us (Mom & Dad) forever!!!
Been back 2x since then and we're going again in May!

Both of my kids were just about 2 on their first visits.

Want to keep this going. Will be taking Dniece in Nov. She will be 16 months old at the time. Everyone says, "Oh, she won't remember it!" I don't care! This is a trip for us to enjoy her.. And I promise to take her back, when she will remember!

Traveling party includes DH, me, Dniece, her parents, and her grandparents (my DB and DSiL) and maybe a DAunt and her DBoyfriend. So plenty of adults to take care of one 16 month old.

Any suggestions???

We are taking our two little girls 1 and 2 this May. We are going for 11 days and plan on starting early and coming back to the CBR for a rest. We are bringing our double stroller and purchased an extra protective shade for the stroller. This should keep them cool and well covered. I am not sure if we will attend the night time fireworks. I will try to keep them to a schedule. At home the schedule is what gets me through the day.

We took DD when she was 3 1/2 months, and 10 months..and 13 months..and 19 months. LOL
DS we took at 13 months and then we've gone every year thereafter.

I think 7 months is a good time..the only difficult thing about our first trip with DD is she didn't sit up yet so couldn;t sit in high chairs, we had to have her stroller with her carseat all the time. At 7 months you won't have to worry about that.

She did sleep through the night by then, so we didn't have any worries of her crying disturbing people in the next room.

It's pretty easy, just keep to their schedule and you'll find that it's probably easier at 7 months than say 2 years old. LOL

Trip 1: DS - 2 months prenatal :)

Trip 2: DS - 23 months

Trip 3: DS - 3 years old; DD - 9 months old

Trip 4: This August = DS - 6 years old; DD - 3 years old

I don't think that any age is too young. No matter what age the child is Disney is fascinating. My DD at 9 months loved everything. She was mesmerized by the lights and sounds; patted and kissed the characters; was doted on by the CMs; etc. Our trip in August is her "potty-learning" prize vacation. Kid you not - we told her when she went pee-pee and poopie in the potty and wore her "big girl" undies all day we would plan a WDW vacation. FORTY-FIVE MINUTES later she says, "Come look!" She had poopied in the potty and has not had an accident since. So...WDW here we come!! She is SERIOUSLY into the princesses, so we have ADRs for CRT. August is a LOOOOONG way away... :p

When we first went, ds was almost 4. We just went again and he was almost 6. I agree with the above post that mentioned memory. Although he doesn't remember a whole lot about the trip when he was almost 4, he sure did have alot of fun while we were there! I imagine when he is 8, he won't remember much about this last trip either, but again, he and we as a family, had a blast, so that is all we care about:) Have fun!

Our youngest (at the time of travel) child was 11 months. It went very well. We just went back to the hotel and did nap time for all of us while he slept (or just kept going and let him nap in the stroller if the rest of us were still full of energy). :thumbsup2

DS 2 and DD 4 for their first trip. Then when our third DS was born he went at 2. He got pneumonia while we were there what a horrible time for him. But we made up for it two years later when he was four.

I was 4 months preggo w/ dd the first time!
My dd's real first trip was when she was 6 months old. Then again when she was 16 months....and 2. And 2 and a half. lol We go alot and she has had a blast every time!

when our 1st daughter was 9months old we did MGM for the day.

Then we returned when she was 2, when she was 3 and now we'll do it when she's 4. Maddie will be 10 months old this year when we go. It will be a challenge for sure!!

oldest daughter was about 20 months. The youngest went in utero a few times (we used to be FL residents), and went "for real" when she was about a month and a half old. WDW makes it remarkably easy to cart about the little ones.

We took our first family trip last year and we had a 6yo, 3.5 yo (turned 4 3 mos later) and a 12mo (10 days past her 1st b-day). My oldest and youngest loved everything and had a blast, my middle was a little more on the reserved side of things, but had his fun his own way (like eating Mickey bars what seemed like night and day! LOL!!)

Let me think...

Oldest dd has been to Disneyland at ages 18mths, 4, 8, 12.

Youngest dd has been to Disneyland at ages 2, 6.

They will be going to Walt Disney World for the first time at ages 9 and 15.

I never worried about them remembering it, what matters is that that they had fun that day. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken them on any outing until they were at least 3! I never really understood the whole "Don't take them until they are old enough to remember every detail" theory. I guess I can see if it was a once in a lifetime type of thing...but once you've been to Disne....it's pretty much a given you are going back! :sunny:

I don't have kids yet!!! I was 25 on my first trip and DH was about 6 months old on his!!! We have decided that once we do have kids, we will probably take them once they are about 5 or 6....unless I can sneak a trip in when they are younger and bring Mimi (what my mother wants to be called by the grandkids) to help out!

My DD6 first visited Disney in utero, 4 months before she could see anything. ;) Then we returned when she was 13 months old, and she actually did pretty well. One of my favorite pictures of her is sacked out in her stroller in EPCOT wedged in next to a big stuffed Mickey that I insisted upon buying for her, even though it was twice her size and completely impractical to lug around for the rest of the day.

DD was 3 on our first trip and we will be going for her third trip this August and she will be 5.
