Calif. Boy Found 6 Years After Abduction
VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) - A boy kidnapped when he was just two weeks old was found six years later living with his mother's alleged killer, police said.
Vallejo Capt. JoAnn West said Saturday the child, Le-Zhan Williams, has been attending a Vallejo school and living in Vallejo under a false name.
``He (Le-Zhan) was right under our noses,'' West said.
Latasha Brown, 22, was charged with homicide and kidnapping after she was taken off a Greyhound bus in Suisun City on Friday morning. Her mother, Delores Ann Brown, 44, was later arrested in Vallejo and charged with concealing a child.
One of the suspects led detectives to the boy, after an anonymous tip Monday directed them to the two women, police said. Further investigation showed Latasha Brown had not given birth around the time the child, Le-Zhan Williams, was born.
The boy's great-grandmother, Riva Lee Boyden, said two detectives came to her house Friday night to tell her they had found the boy.
``My life has completely changed in three hours,'' Boyden said. ``I never thought this would happen.''
Williams, the son of local rap singer Lathan ``Young Lay'' Williams, has been missing since May 17, 1996, the same day his mother, Daphne Boyden, 17, was killed and the home she shared with her grandmother was set on fire.
