That poor wedding pavilion…..Actually the renderings of the prior attempt at Atlantis had them utilizing the left side of the same lagoon. Which is not good.
I’ll believe it when I see it…. but nothing is imminent….Its going to be developed at some point,,,we have all been spoiled up to now.....no NIMBY is allowed. Disney knew when they bought and built.
No one is suggesting the land remain undeveloped. It’s too valuable and it is a resort area after all. I just think the scope and the design are what can and should be of concern. Not only from an Aulani guest perspective but also from an area resident perspective - can the area handle the influx of people from a mega resort such as what was previously proposed? Its going to be developed at some point,,,we have all been spoiled up to now.....no NIMBY is allowed. Disney knew when they bought and built.
I mean the entire archipelago of Hawaii has been a story of NIMBYs versus developers for like 200 years. Its going to be developed at some point,,,we have all been spoiled up to now.....no NIMBY is allowed. Disney knew when they bought and built.
Have you seen how big Aulani is ? Towers over 4 seasons next door.No one is suggesting the land remain undeveloped. It’s too valuable and it is a resort area after all. Agreed but I think the mega resort flag of Ko Olina has been flown. By Aulani. That doesn’t mean build another Ko Olina mega resort.Have you seen how big Aulani is ? Towers over 4 seasons next door.
There are no real "residents" in the area. The entirety of Ko Olina is a planned resort development which doesn't really affect the residents of nearby Kapolei all that much.No one is suggesting the land remain undeveloped. I think you're confused on the timeline. There was ALWAYS supposed to be another resort on that parcel. This isn't something new that's being added, it's something that was always supposed to be there that's currently missing.Agreed but I think the mega resort flag of Ko Olina has been flown. Aulani should be viewed as the anchor tenant of the area. Its about balance.
No confusion, I just don’t think the neighboring resort should be as big or bigger than Aulani. It would be a net negative to the destination as a whole if that is what is built.I think you're confused on the timeline. There was ALWAYS supposed to be another resort on that parcel. The proposed resort is nowhere near the size of Aulani. It's supposed to have 500 rooms. Aulani has over 800, and many of those are villas that sleep up to 9.No confusion, I just don’t think the neighboring resort should be as big or bigger than Aulani. Think of Baha Mar (ironically the better iteration of Atlantis). The Grand Hyatt is the anchor, flanked by a smaller Rosewood and SLS.
I’ve said my peace on this. You’re responding with inaccurate info. Here’s what was proposed. It’s too big, especially with what’s already on that beach. The proposed resort is nowhere near the size of Aulani. It's supposed to have 500 rooms. Even if they did use both lagoons, it is not that big a deal. Have you ever seen the beach crowded? I haven't. I have seen most the chairs full, but never too many people swimming and playing in the water. Not at any of the lagoons. They would be set to use both. Would spread out the crowds a bit.
That article is 8 years old. China Oceanwide Holdings went bankrupt in 2023. They no longer own the property.I’ve said my peace on this. You’re responding with inaccurate info. Here’s what was proposed. It’s too big, especially with what’s already on that beach.

Having another resort built next door will have no entertainment impact at Aulani. It will have impact trying to shop/eat off site, but that is about it.
