kides say Magic Bands have ruined Disney

That link does not say that 90% of guests love FP+.

It says:

About half of the guests now use MagicBands and 90% of them rate the experience as excellent or very good. We’re very pleased with the growing popularity of MyMagic+ and expect it to contribute to parks earnings growth starting in the fourth quarter

Approximately *half* of all guests now use Magic Bands.

90% *of them* (them = the "about half" that now use Magic Bands), rate the experience as excellent.

And, those percentages are referring to use of Magic Bands, not specifically FP+.

Nothing in that statement says that there is a 90% approval rating out of 100% of all guests.

Even on the busiest of days under the old system I could get more than three FP. From my perspective then FP+ is a negative and detracts from my enjoyment.

I also think it's ridiculous that the OPs kids have suddenly become "burned out" in some peoples opinions simply because they don't like FP+.

So I've been checking wait times all day today which is arguable the busiest day at WDW overall. Or at least top five. Epcot had 2-4 hour lines at Soarin and Test Track. MK has terrible lines at everything. 75 minutes at Buzz and Pirates. AK on the other hand has maximum waits of 40 minutes on Everest. And that has been predicted since last New Years. Everyone knew Epcot and MK would be dreadful and AK wouldn't be. If you absolutely have to be at WDW this week, why not do two hours at Epcot or MK from 7:30-9:30, hop to AK for a delightful midday. The rest and eat a relaxing dinner from 3-8 pm. And have fp+ for the late evening filling in your "trapped in the park" time by watching fireworks? That would be better than the old system as if never have been able to get fp for headliners by entering a park later. Obviously this assumes you are a resort guest and still be allowed in.

I will never go to Disney again on a super busy week. But if I was forced I can think of many strategies that would work.

I see the "if you had a bad experience with FP then you must be mistaken" crowd is out again.

I could see myself liking Magicbands when we get back to WDW. But I am quite sure that based on our touring style we will not like FP+. So where's the survey data on FP+ specifically? :scratchin

As for the "six months" comment, maybe the OP meant to say six weeks? Or 2 months?

OP, just curious if any of your prior trips has been during such a busy week?

100% correct
I don't know anyone who doesn't like mb, just that don't like fp+

Agreed

I tried to stack all the fast passes in the morning, but due to this week at WDW, there was no way to move the fast passes around, especially for the popular rides (7 dwarfs, test track, ect.) I even took some throw away fast passes (i.e. Nemo) at 8 am, to get things stacked in the morning. I tried for 6 months to move the times around, it was impossible. One of the draw backs with coming between Christmas and New Years.

We just got back from a trip the weekend before Christmas, and I feel your pain. The thing that I hate most about Christmas time is the afternoons, and that hour or two of 'dead' time. If it happens in late afternoon - it's just too darn crowded to do any of the time fillers we are used to doing! Nothing, and I mean Nothing has a standby of less than 40 minutes or so. You're tired, it's crowded, you've got time to kill, but no where to go but into the sea of people. We had that happen on our first Christmas trip a few years back, and we had it on this right before Christmas trip this year. I do think it is a product of the crowds, not your fastpasses.

So it seems that your kids' issues are not the magic bands, or even the fast passes. It was more about the crowds and the timing of the fast passes.

Understood the issue with FP+ but what does that have to do with the magic bands? Also magic bands are optional.

And I see the "support the anti-FP+ poster no matter how bizarre the claims" crowd is out in full force.

6 months of switching FP around? You don't say. How interesting.

I see that you haven't actually used FP+, which surprised me a great deal since you're reliably on every complaint thread.

I don't understand why so many take such issue with ops kids opinions. It sounds like kids that age could come up with that. They may have just been frustrated with the crowds or maybe they do need to vacation elsewhere.

I don't mind fp+ but that doesn't mean everyone has to like it. Op- sorry for the experience. I don't think disney is going to do away with fp+ but hopefully they will tweak it.

Why the need to assume the OP is a troll based on one statement? I am always willing to wait and have them come back and clarify. We all know FP books at 60 days at the earliest. If someone was going to make something up, I'm sure they could find better ways to do that.

And why would I need to try FP+ to know that I won't like being limited to 3 selections, tiering and no repeats? Yes, I know 4th FP+ options are possible. But everything I see indicates that it would be foolhardy to rely on getting headliners for a 4th and beyond. I know our touring style and what FP+ offers so we defected to the west last year when FP+ rolled out at WDW. And we had a great time at DLR the last 2 years with legacy FP.

I continue watching these threads because deep down inside I want to return to WDW at some point. I am encouraged that there are fewer reports of gliltches, lost fastpasses, that sort of thing. Additionally, we are considering a beach trip in the summer, and I am considering a brief stop at the parks, so shouldn't I be informing myself on FP+?

:thumbsup2 I totally agree with all of that.

OP, sorry your kids were disappointed in their trip.

OP, I feel your pain. The truth is that not everyone wants a "relaxed" WDW vacation. We were commando tourers and we don't find the new system works for us and has reduced our enjoyment significantly. Of course, I realize that I have absolutely no right to that opinion. ;)

I know I might be the minority, but I like FP+. I like scheduling popular rides and going on them with little or no wait. We have gone for spring break for the past 3 years and it is so nice with FP+. My son brings his bf and they have their fp scheduled and they can go and do their own thing. I love it!!!

No, you're not. The majority are fine with it. What you get here are all the usual suspects (and their children) cluttering the boards with their negativity. We did 2 week-long visits this year and had no problems at all. We don't go during busy times so that's a big part of the strategy.

OP - I'm sorry your trip wasn't all that fun for you and your family. I can attest to the fact that other vacations can be a blast and I hope you give some a whirl. As far as DVC goes, I like Jenassis's suggestion of just parking yourself at DVC property & playing elsewhere. We loved Busch Gardens and SeaWorld this past May.

As far as the responses go, maybe OP's done other visits since FP+ and found them doable? But in peak time it was just too restrictive.

And, like mom2rtk, I've also not been there since FP+'s inception. But I keep tabs over here because I'm looking forward to the day when the next new thing rolls out and takes the sting out of all my commando-style, E-ticket-TSMM-loving family lost with the new plan. I know we're the minority, but we are experienced enough at WDW to know what we like and this FP+-stuff infringes on it. I don't think the fact we haven't been there since means we can't opine or commiserate.

We had a Dec 1 to Dec 16 at WDW and absolutely loved the MB and FP+. Didn't use two thirds of the FP because wait times were only 10-20 min for most of rides except 7DMT. Had a really relaxing time. :cool1:
