Hello, I have an appointment next week to have my daughters pics taken at Kiddie Candids in Babies R Us. Has anyone used them? Where the photos worth the money?
Thanks!

We've gone several times. The photos are good and I like the fact that you get them that day. But I think their prices are a bit high. We've started going to Portrait Innovations and even Target and get the same quality pictures (or even better at PI) for cheaper.

We have used them several times. The pictures are nice and you get them in 15 minutes. They do try to up sell you quickly by adding borders and doing some montages. These are nice, but they add up quickly. Be sure to know what you want to spend. They offer a free 8 x 10 for a birthday child. We got an additional page that had a 5 x 7 and 2 3 x 5s for $23.00 or so. There is not a sitting fee, which is also a savings!

I have used the Kiddie Kandids in Westbury 3 times so far and have been fairly pleased. I used them for christmas, valentines day and 1st birthday photos. The only time I had an issue was valentines day - it actually wasn't very busy but we waited almost 50 mins to get into a photo spot to take DD's picture.

They aren't cheap - but I wait until I get a coupon and try to use that. The last time I went they even let us stay for almost 1 hour taking pictures b.c DD got a little clingy.

One thing I don't care for is that they make you go thru all the little photos before you go out to chose what you want and narrow it down to a total of 6 which is hard to do with such small pictures.

You do get your photos right away with only about a 10 minute wait.

I know a lot of people in our area like target and Sears for photos and they are much cheaper I haven't used them before so I can't personally comment.

here are some pictures from there:

I have used them as well as Sears and Walmart. I like to buy the disc. Overall I like Sears the best. At KK the kids cannot really move around, they are on a platform, and they are not allowed to stand unless they are leaning on a ladder etc. At Sears they can stand which is nice- especially when they ahve just learned how to walk. As far as props, well most of the props at KK are beat up and they don't use too many anymore. Sears takes the most pictures in different poses. KK is usually 4 or 6 shots. They will not do more. Walmart is okay as well but Sears imo is the best. Their cameras can move all over so you are not only able to take pictures head on. I have a great photo of all four of our kids laying head to head and holding hands.:lovestruc I usually spend around $150 and I get the disc with copyrights and 15-20 sheets. There is always a coupon. Good luck with your decision!

We love Kiddie Kandids, I think they are TOTALLY worth the money. After I used them once, I always go back now! The only issue I have with them is the lack of new backgrounds, but the pictures have turned out so much better than other places, at least for us (we have tried Walmart, Target, and Sears)

Here are a few of my pictures with them.

Thanks! The pictures are soooo cute! I guess I will go with Kiddie Candids and if they arent great I will try Target and Sears next!

I don't have any personal experience (yet)...
Not sure that I will as the closest BRU is probably about 20 miles, but I'd figure I'd offer my observations...

I've had several co-workers (parents/grandparents) go to Kiddie Candids and have great luck. They have gotten some great shots (Halloween Costumes, Christmas Pictures, etc.) and do speak very highly of the photographers there, as well as the perk of bringing pictures home that day. However, they have stated that the pricing is obviously reflective of that.

I've tried to save up a few coupons that I've seen that go out towards the holidays, and will most likely try Target or Stop & Shop (our grocery store! it has a photo studio!).

Oh- I wanted to add- you can get a dud of a photographer at any studio. So the photos are only as good as the person taking them. Make sure wherever you go you are happy with the person taking the photos.

We are big Picture People fans. We've used them for the last 6yrs and have yet to walk out w/o amazing shots of our kids.

They are a bit pricier than Sears/Penneys/Walmart/Target, but in this case I think you get what you pay for. We tried Sears twice and I was thoroughly disappointed in them...both times.

When your kids are young you need a photographer that is really good at capturing them quickly w/ good shots. Sears just didn't come close (cut off hands or feet in EVERY shot one of our visits!!!). I don't want to waste my time and energy trying to corral my kids for a photo shoot, only to come out w/ crummy pictures... so we just go straight to Picture People!

YMMV though. :confused3

I do agree that it has a lot to do with who is taking the photos - at DD's 1st bday shots - they let us do about 3 different backgrounds and about 8 different props etc. Again I had to narrow it down to 6 so I didn't even get one of many of those - They let my DD stand and walk without props and without holding on to props. So maybe it depends on the location and the photographer.

I LOVE Kiddie Kandids!! Totally worth the money and I dont think the prices are all that bad. Especially compared to the Picture People.
