We have always stayed off-site or at value or moderate resorts when we go to Disney, but a friend has offered to rent us points at a good rate and we would like to stay at Animal Kingdom - we love animals! We can only afford a studio and there are four of us (2 adults, 14 year old, 12 year old). Are the sofa beds comfortable? We had a bad experience with a sofa bed on a vacation this summer so I am a little nervous about it!

My daughter has slept on one and said it was comfy. I did lay down with her to watch a movie and it was pretty comfy. I think your boys will be fine. Have a great time, it's a great resort!!!

The sofa beds are ok, not great. Your kids at that age should be fine with it. My adult children think they are awful. I find the studios to be very tight quarters with 4 people in them (I own DVC). If I was renting a studio, I would want to be in Jambo vs Kidani.

If you are worried about the sofa bed and tight quarters, you can always get a studio at Old Key West; they are the only DVC studios that have two beds in them and they are bigger units.

I stayed in a studio with my daughter and niece, both age 21 at the time. They're both very petite (5'3"-5'4") and barely over 100 lbs. each. They were fine with the sofa bed but it was not ideal. Both were happy when we moved to the Poly and each had a bed. The studio was very small, especially when the sofa bed is opened. I felt claustrophobic with 3 people sharing that space. I cannot imagine it with 4!

Have stayed several times at AKL in a DVC studio. The sofa bed is comfortable enough for kids, depending on how tall/large they are. Even an adult can make do with the sofa bed, but I have only slept on one for one night, otherwise my daughter gets it:goodvibes! You should be fine. Hopefully you will be at the parks, and so the size of the room, which btw is larger than a value, should be adequate. The resort itself imho is well worth staying there!

The sleeper sofa in a studio at AKV will be double sized. So you will have a queen sized bed and a double sleeper sofa.

Thanks, we have decided not to do the studio. The kids are grown-up size and want a comfy bed, and so do I, and it's no fun being tired at Disney! Thanks for helping me make this decision.

I guess my family is more easy going than most. Dh, 6'4'', usually takes the sleep sofa in the studios. Dd, 5'10'' and I, 5'8'', take the bed. He hasn't complained about the sleep sofa yet...and we've stayed at many DVC resorts. When it's just dd and I, or if we're in a one bedroom with DH? Dd gets the sleep sofa usually. She has no issue either.
They really are better than the run of the mill sleep sofa we have in our homes.

I slept on one of those sofa sleepers when we stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at AKV, and it was as hard as a rock, IMO. I did not like it at all.

When I stayed in a studio at the Boardwalk, I slept on the sofa sleeper, and found it to be very comfortable.
