Kidani Village- standard view not gauranteed?

I just thought this was odd. So if you make a ressie using your DVC points and request a standard you may have to use more points and stay in a savvanah once you arrive if there are not standard views available? We are highly considering akv and since a big draw for us is the savannah, for us this is not an issue but we had thought of bringing family and friends and having them stay in a standard which could effect our vacation plans. Does anyone know how this will work? TIA!

I'm not sure if I really understand your question, but you will get the view you book. It will not be changed at check-in. So if you book standard view, that is what you will get - a view of pool or parking lot - not a savannah view. If you want a savannah view, you have to book it and pay the points for it.
The only exception to this is the value rooms in the main lodge - these rooms can have a savannah view, pool view or a parking lot view - while you could make a request, you get what you get. These rooms take less points because they are smaller. Kidani Village will not have any value rooms.

As Dizplanner says they will only allocate the rooms if available when you book. The only reason a view may not be available when you check in is if something suddenly went wrong and the room had to be taken out of service, even then I am sure you would use the same amount of points and would be put up in a similar or better view. There is going to be quite alot of standard view at Kidani looking at the plans so they should be easier to book than at Jambo House.

OP....I don't think this is right...

Like previous posters have stated.....you are guaranteed your standard
room.
If after booking a standard room and for some reason disney does not
have it available.....they will eat those points I'm sure.

Rooms will be classified as either "Standard" or "Savanna" view when they are added to inventory. Separate inventories are tracked at the time of booking to avoid overbooking any room class / size.

The only time your room class may be changed is if maintenance issues unexpectedly leave the resort short when you arrive. If they have to upgrade you to a higher-point room, the upgrade will be free--they will not take additional points out of your account. This is a very rare occurrence.

If they have to downgrade your room class, they will offer some sort of compensation like return of some points, dining vouchers, etc. This is a very, very, very rare occurrence.

That said, what the resort cannot guarantee is the actual "view" that you will see off of your balcony. I don't think we know exactly what the Standard View rooms at Kidani will overlook, but two features appear likely to be the parking lot and the main pool. At the time of booking you could REQUEST the pool view, but you still may get the parking lot. They only guarantee they will offer is that you will be in SOME Standard View room.
