We're DVC and taking the inlaws on our trip next October. He's got knee issues, so I am wondering if it would be better to get our two bedroom in Jambo house, or in Kidani, like I want to. We've never stayed at AKL with DVC, so I don't know much about the rooms there. We've only stayed as "paying customers". :rotfl:

Any info on the two areas would be great!!!

Oh, if we stay in Jambo house, we can still use the Kidani pool as DVC members, right?

I would vote Kidani. We stayed there in August and loved it. Even since then they have opened the new Savanna too. I was kind of diappointed with the pool. It had been soooo hyped and while it was very nice, the childrens spray and spash section was closed the week we were there.

Not 100% sure on being able to use Kidani pool if you stay at Jambo. I know Kidani is one of the locations that DVC pool hopping is not allowed, but I don't know if, for purposes of using the pool, Jambo is considered seperate or part of Kidani.

Do you have any kids? If so, my son absolutely loved the Camp Kidani programs. He took 3 during the week and got a special medalion that you can only get by attending the camps.

Yes, jambo or kidani can use any of the amenities on property, including the water / pool area at kidani..

We stayed at Jambo house in 2008 and Kidani in 2009. Loved them both but I'd love to stay Kidani again! Pool was great and so was the kiddie area. Only thing is there is no counter service there. The bus will take you to Jambo so you can eat at Mara or you can walk....not that far but not good for someone with a bad knee. All busses go to Jambo from Kidani.

All PARK buses go from kidani to jambo house. DTD goes from Jambo to Kidani..

Thanks for the replies!!

We do have children - we will have four when we go, but one will be an infant. :lovestruc

My father in law will be using an ECV at the parks, and we do go to the goft shop and the counter service quite a lot - at least, we did the last time we stayed at AKL.

I am thinking that the bus ride or the walk every morning might get annoying.

Is there any benefit at a dvc member at staying at kidani over Jambo house?

Are the rooms different between the two buildings?

We just got back from a week at Kidani and we can honestly say we will probably never stay at Jambo. We were there over Christmas so there was people every where but never at Kidani. It was so quiet. That alone was worth the walk everywhere. But it did get annoying having to treck from the second to last room in the hotel to the lobby. It took us as long to go to Jambo as it did to go to the lobby in Kidani. So with having someone with you who can't take long walks that could be tough.

As far as the rooms go I believe the Kidani rooms are larger and their 1 bedrooms have 2 baths so their 2 beds would have 3 baths.

It's interesting as we stayed at AKL as paying customers and went to Kidani for dinner at Saana. We did not like Kidani at all, apart from the great HUGE viewing area of the savannah. We of course did not see any rooms, but the lobby and public areas did not impress us at all, whereas Jambo is almost awe inspiring. Different strokes for different folks!

All two bedroom villas at Jambo House are lockoffs - meaning a studio and a one bedroom combined - two doors, a full kitchen in the one bedroom portion and a kitchenette in the studio portion. Only two bathrooms (Kidani will have three). The second bedroom will have a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa. The master bathroom will not have the separate shower from the tub.

You can get a dedicated two bedroom at Kidani (two queen beds in the second bedroom, no kitchenette).

Is there a fee to them? or an age limit? What is the programming like? We will be staying in the AKV Jambo house so may we participate in them? We are not DVC members. Thanks!

We are checking in on sunday the 10th at Kidani, 1st time at our home resort. Kidani has it's own check in building , right? In other words I dont have to go to the main building to check in. Also how is the parking at Kidani, we drive down and I like easy access to my car from time to time. Thanks in advance for the info.
