Hi everyone, We decided to add a day on the start of our vacation, and wanted to be somewhere we've never stayed. So we wait listed AKV Kidani 1BR savannah view for July 4th, and it came through!!!:cool1: Here's my question we have never stayed there before, and we will not be doing the parks that day so what are the must see's at the resort?

One of the best pools on property, night vision at fire pit overlook, shuttle to Jambo house

You will have a lot of choices! Check out their list of activities for the day (there are lots), you can attend both Kidani and Jambo activities. Request Sunset Savannah as they have giraffes, zebra's, etc. that Pembe does not have. Just remember it's a request and they may not be able to fulfill it. You will have fun regardless.

If you like adult beverages the bar down in Sanaa is a nice place to chill for a bit. If you like Signature dining, Jiko is outstanding (my opinion). Mara's is a fast food service at Jambo House, I think it's better than the average fast food service.

Enjoy!

Kidani is awesome. Lots of great places to view animals. Beautiful African art and artifacts. Fabulous pool area.

If you have never eaten at Sanaa -- you must! It is one of the best restaurants on property.

Enjoy!:thumbsup2

Things I wanted to do (but never got around to it):
- Tour of Saana
- Cookie decorating at Boma (for the kids)
- Face painting at Mara (for the kids)
- Night vision viewing of the animals

Things we did to: pool, camp fire, movie by the pool, music thing in the library - DH ended up talking to the exchange students for 30mins!

AKV has tons of cultural activities at both Kidani and Jambo--tours of the buildings, floor rubbings, drumming lessons, talk by a cultural representative at night, etc. Kidani also has a community hall with crafts, games, etc. Walk out to the savannah overlook areas--there's always a staff member there who can answer your questions about the animals. They also have the usual pool activities!

We ended up doing room service at Kidani when a very rainy Columbus Day weekend sent us back to the hotel one visit. Room service is from Sanaa--so not your typical burgers/fries. We really enjoyed it.

AKV is a great place for a non-park day--so much to do there!:thumbsup2

One of our favorite AKV activities is one we stumbled upon one night. It's called African Journey or Cultural Safari. It was a very cool experience! We also love going out to the fire pits and talking with the CM's who work there. The pool area is incredible so definitely check that out too.

I would be content in a rocking chair watching giraffes! Boma is a great place to eat and I enjoy the gift shop there as well (Jambo House).
