Kid swap on rides?

Can someone explain how this works? I take it I go on ride with one of my kids, while DH and the other son (who refuse to go on ride) waits in line. Then when we get back he goes on ride while I wait with kids? Do all workers know of this? I don't want to get up in line and them be clueless.

I've used kid swap at Universal many times, mostly at Spider-Man and Cat in the Hat. It usually works very well, just like you described it. When waiting at the kid swap area, I always go up to the nearest ride attendant and tell them I am doing the kid swap. Sometimes you will get a clueless person, but just explain what you are doing and they'll let you go.

What if it is a ride neither of my kids want to go on, but my DH and I both do. Can I wait in the kid swap area while he rides, then he waits with them? Does it work that way? Are there designated kid swap areas at all the rides, likes signs or you just tell the attendant when you get to the front of the line?

Can you tell I'm clueless, lol.

I don't know the "official" ruling but you can always use the single rider lines where available if the kids don't want to ride and you do.

This is not official information either, but just how it has worked for us in the past. I always go to the attendant at the front of the line and ask where the kid swap is. It sometimes changes (for instance the Trolley ride) so it doesn't hurt to ask.

We have done the Spider-Man ride without kids. I waited in the swap room with the kids while DH rode, then when he got off the ride he stayed with the kids while I rode. I didn't have to get back in line. It never hurts to ask someone, that's always my view!
