Kid IDs?

We recently returned from an eight day trip and used the tottoos on all three of our kids. Being their ages are varied, we chose to place the tottoos on the outside of their forearm/near wrist each time we applied one. That way, if the younger ones happened to be lost (unlikely with double stroller use), they may not have to remember where the information was...The tottoos were plainly visible. Fortunately, no one ever got lost, but it was a nice safety net for us, together with our reminders to the kids of who and where to get help should they become lost. We even had a number of people inquire about the tottoos and compliment what a great idea they are. I have plenty leftover, as, despite the heat, sweat, sunscreen and swimming, we did not have to remove and reapply everyday.

Just as a word of caution to marking inside of clothes and shoes...I read another thread that mentioned that supposedly CM's are not allowed to inspect clothes, etc. to look for information that might not be in plain sight in th case of a lost child.

When I ordered the tottoos, I inquired on the best/safest wording to use. The owner nicely emailed me back and agreed that "To reach my parents, call xxx-xxx-xxxx", which offers only the necessary information without having to list names, etc. to protect the child in the safest manner.

Happy travelling all!!!

I just bought the bracelets from Shanrene. I ordered them Sunday night and we had them on Wednesday. We had "I'm Lost Call Mom xxx-xxx-xxxx" on one side and "I'm Lost Call Dad xxx-xxx-xxxx" on the other.

Hi is Shanrene with SayItNowBands? Did you order two bracelets and will have them wear one on each arm. Or were you able to fit Call Mom .... and Call Dad... on one bracelet. Trying to figure out how to word what I need and meet the number of characters guidelines. Thanks

I just ordered these yesterday. I googled Shanrene and found the site - it's shanrene.com. You can fit both "Mom cell (xxx)-xxx-xxxx" and "Dad cell (xxx)-xxx-xxxx" on one braclet. At least the site allowed that and no one has emailed me that there was a problem. I have a boy and a girl so I just ordered 2 red ones. I'll let you know what they look like when they come in - but I think it will be the best $8 we spend getting ready for our trip!

The Shanrene bands have have 2 seperate areas of text - what they call front and back. It's all on the outside of the band, just one set of text on one side and one on the other. (This is clear as mud, I know). I believe that it was $1.99 for "I'm Lost Call Mom xxx-xxx-xxxx" and an additional .30 for "I'm Lost Call Dad xxx-xxx-xxxx" on the opposite side. I used 18 point, Arial Bold font. If you used something smaller, you could probably get by with just having one side done, but it would be very, very small. I got the youth bands. You might be able to fit more on an adult band.

re: ink rubbing off - I would stay away from any kind of ink if you go in the summer (or any time where the heat is more than what you're used to at home!) The neat thing about the rubber bands we used was that they were sweat- and water-proof. :)

Also, how would that work at a water park? Any kind of ink or sticker wouldn't last long there...

DO they make a childrens; size, I know that those bracelets could fall off my DS3--I don't want to get a sticker cause of water/sweat..I know that he will take it off.

We bought id tags from the laughingplace.com. We wrote our cell numbers on the back. We also drilled DD on her name and where she lived. Also, she learned that Mommy and Daddy have names too.

Honestly, I almost wrote my cell number on the bottom of her foot with a sharpie. I would not be too worried. We did make sure DD's where in the stroller whenever there was high crowd traffic!

I can attest to the fact that sharpie marker ink will last through a day of sweating and swimming. My girls are on swim team and have their events written on their arms with sharpies. It usually takes a great effort to get that stuff off!! :rotfl: Not that this would be my recommendation for "tagging" your children....just thought I'd share.

Shanrene does have child size bracelets - I ordered 3 for my son. I want to say that the adults are 8 inches and the children's are 7 inches. The child size fit my 4-year old son's wrist and I was able to slip it over his foot onto his ankle.
