DD10 has an appetite issue due to medication. We will have three meals a day (some just a bagel or muffin, but scheduled), but we will need to keep some semi-healthy snacks on hand for when she is hungry and its not a regular mealtime. We struggle with this at home as well, so I'm assuming its going to be even harder to keep her eating at WDW. She's not big into fruit cups, raisons, or granola type mixes. I was thinking maybe the Belvita biscuits, but they are really dry and break easily, so they won't travel well. I wish there was a better way to carry leftovers from our meals around so she can graze, but we're going in August, so the sun may spoil anything we put in a doggy bag. Are there any kid friendly high protein snacks I can throw in a park bag and airplane carry on?

Maybe nutri grain bars Or Protein bars? Or maybe even protein powder in a cup that you could just keep and mix later in the day?

Bananas
Apple slices
Cheese sticks
Pretzels
Crackers
Etc.

I sometimes pack a lunch box size ice pack to keep cheese/fruit cold.

Oatmeal raisin cookies
Ants on a log, deconstructed (peanut butter in the bottom of a disposable drink cup, raisins sprinkled on top -- or not, if she doesn't like raisins -- celery sticks standing upright in it, cover with a disposable drink lid)

If you are bringing an insulated lunchbag or cooler, I agree with the cheese stick idea, or you could do boiled eggs, lowfat chocolate milk, etc. You could also use the insulated bag to pack leftovers from lunch, if you have an icepack in the bag as well. Then she can just graze on leftovers.

I carry a small insulated lunch bag with cold packs. I keep granola bars, cheese sticks, peanut butter crackers, applesauce pouches (like Go-Go-Squeeze), apples, grapes, pretzels, squeezable yogurt, Greek yogurt cups (easy to find spoons), peanut butter sandwiches...I rarely buy food in the parks!

Jerky. We make our own and take a big batch every trip. We also take almonds and dried bananas. All travel well and are good little pick-me-up snacks! Our oldest has a peanut allergy so we have to careful about some snacks. We also fly from the west coast so need items that travel well!

Freeze dried veggies--peas and corn are super tasty. Very low calories/cup. Very crunchy and gratifying.

Can she eat nuts? A little baggie of mixed nuts or almonds is a great way to get a mid day protein boost. Also, it's not very exciting, but cheerios in a little baggie can hit the spot sometimes. Crunchy and a little sweet.

I'm going to try some of them at home first, like the protein bars. She definetly likes cheese sticks, and we'll rent a car, so we could make a quick grocery stop. Only thing is if we take one of those insulated lunch bags with a cold pack, is there an easy way to freeze it in the room? We'll be staying at the AS Movies.

I believe you can request a fridge if you have a medical need, which this is. The small freezer compartment doesn't work great, but well enough.

ETA: oh yeah! Forgot about the fridges in there

We typically bring fruit snacks, goldfish, fruit roll-ups, bananas, apples, cheese sticks, and/or cookies into the park. We also bring a cooler with water, soft drinks, and juice. Snacks help DD, 2, get through the lines.

There is a refrigerator in the rooms, but no freezer. I'm sure you can request one since you have a medical issue.

I take an insulated bag so we can carry bottled water and cheese sticks. A lot of the QS places now have a power pack meal also that has a yogurt, string cheese, carrots, goldfish. I'm not sure what else. I get those for my DD4 so she will have snacks throughout the day.

And I second the applesauce pouches.

You can just get ziploc bags and fill them with ice from the ice machine. I do this (double bag the ice) and bring an insulated bag and pack leftovers.

Some of the protein bar brands make ones that are geared more to kinds. Clif Bars is one that comes to mind--they have things like chocolate chip and brownie, etc. Jif makes those little individual cups of peanut butter that would be easy to toss in a bag. Then just add crackers, pretzels, celery to dunk in them. How about the healthier versions of fruit snacks? You probably don't want Fruit Roll-Ups, but there are more natural ones.

I guess I'm not very environmentally friendly when I travel - I like to have single serve snacks that are prepackaged & self contained - I'm not one to create my own packs with ziplocs or cups . There are lots of options at the grocer or Target.

I typically bring single serve bags of apples or carrots (available at any grocer), single serve bags of nut mix (Diamond makes some tasty ones), or single serve bags of whole grain crackers/pop-chips or something like that. I find that getting a healthy snack in DS6 every few hours minimizes his appetite when we do have a junky treat and it also keeps him properly fueled for the rigors of WDW!

I second this. My kids love zbars (made by cliff)

Hummus is also a pretty good snack that will hold you over for awhile. You can pack some carrots along with it.

And I just saw this recipe recently for making a chick pea snack - basically you rinse and dry the chick peas, sprinkle some seasoning (salt and parika) and then bake them. I have been wanting to try it, but haven't yet....I think it would make a yummy snack.
