This is my first time ever posting. I hope I do it correctly! I have been utilizing the information off of this site for so long I felt it was time to take the plunge and join in!
My question is, I have 2 boys, 8 and 10. We are going on the Western Cruise on May 22, 2004. Is the Stingray snorkeling tour a good choice for them? They are good swimmers.
If this is a good choice, is Disney's excursion the way to go or Captain Marvins?
I am so excited! This is my first cruise!
Thanks for any help!

Disney uses Captain Marvin's for their Stingray City Tour. It will be FAR cheaper for you to book thru Capt. Marvin because DCL considers your 10 year old and adult and charges adult rates. Capt. Marvin considers him a child and charges child rates!!! THat's a big savings. Besides, you save a bit by going thru Capt. Marvin normally.

Yes, Stingray City is great for kids of all ages (even 40-somethings)

We went on the Western Cruise last week, 1/3 - 1/10, although we didn't do the stingray city this time, we did it a few years ago when my son was 8, he was a little freaked out by the stingrays, because they kind of swarm around you, but he just got back on the boat. It is a really cool experience, though, I would definitely try it. We did the Rum Pt. Beach excursion this time, you could add the stingray tour to that if you wanted. That trip was nice but you have 1 hr. travel time bus/ferry one way to get to the beach, then you go out on a glass bottom boat to go snorkeling w/ the stingrays.

If you have any interest in horseback riding, Nicki's is fabulous. She does the r/t from Hard Rock Cafe, includes a convenience store stop and has well trained horses for beginners and experienced riders. My 8 year old son and I rode with her last August and it was the most thrilling, relaxing and beautiful dream come true for a horse lover! Walking and cantoring along the surf on an abandoned beach was just the highlight of the entire cruise for us.

Thank you sooo much for the replys! I think I will go with Captain Marvins.

rae519,

Do you know what the age limit is for the horseback riding? It is something we would love to do, but not sure our DD would be able to.

Thank you.
