Yeah....It's time for an update. I doubt I will update tomorrow because I have to march in a parade tomorrow night (Insert picture of band geek here.....shocker????)
When I left off LJ and I were departing the hot, hot, hot MK. Did I mention it was pretty hot that day? DH and DS stayed to get FP's for BTM. LJ and I got a quick bus home and we changed into our bathing suits to go swimming. After LJ's rash he took a couple days off from chlorine, but he was ready to go again. I didn't take any pics of him swimming, but he took off to do the slide. Then he joined the games at the "pool party". He's not shy or afraid to take part in things even when he doesn't know anybody. I like that.
When DH got back from the park he joined us at the pool. It was another perfect pool day. I generally have bad luck swimming while at WDW. The scenario usually plays out like this.....Leave the park at 2:30 in the blazing sunshine, go back to resort and change, get to pool, big puffy white clouds roll in, clouds get darker, sun disappears, lightening in distance, CM closes the pool. Yeah .....that's how my afternoon pool time usually rolls. But not this trip. Nope....no clouds, no lightening, no rain, and pool open 24/7. I really needed this pool time. I cooled down in no time. Boy, I could get use to this. Sun, water, and an adult beverage.
When we got back for the pool, the older boys were back from Blizzard Beach. They said the line for Summit Plummet was fairly long, but they still managed a few rides on SP and generally has a good time! I think they were starting to realize that they needed to get out more during the day.
We all took the bus to MK. DS 14 wanted to know why we couldn't just go park at the Contemporary and walk in like we did the other night. I'm not gonna lie when I say that I actually entertained that thought for a split second, only because I saw how vacant the lot was a few nights ago. Tonight we had a 5:50 ADR at Tony's. Tony's is another restaurant which gets a bad rap here on the boards. I've eaten at Tony's twice before and my meals have always been good. I was curious to see if tonight's meal would be the same. We got to the park about 15 mins early and DS16 and I went to procure more Motrin. His leg was still bothering him and the Motrin helped.
Oh....Lookie....I found some more boats on my way back to MK:
I also found a few pics of the mini parade they do every few hours. I forget the name, but I know it has something to do with Celebrate.
When we got back, I decided to check in a few minutes early. Here are the boys sitting on the porch getting very hungry:
Poor LJ....Was he going to make it?
This was the FRIST time all week (except for that brief moment on the Safari) when I saw LJ look worn out.
We were seated within minutes of checking in. This was good because LJ was starting to get hungry! I wasn't sure if he was really tired or really hungry, cause he got dangerously quiet. But once he got a few pieces of bread and some lemonade in him, he started to perk up.
Here we are waiting in the lobby to get seated:
As for dinner, I didn't take pictures and I can't remember what everyone had. I had the pasta with marina and seafood, LJ had the ever dependable chicken nuggets, DS 16 had the chicken parm. DS's friend probably had the same. I have no idea what DS 14 had. I told my DH I was working on my TR tonight and asked him what he had to eat at Tony's . He started to answer me and then suddenly said, "Tony's? Where's Tonys?" See what I mean CP - Directionally Deprived Denny strikes again. The response I was really expecting was, "IDK", not "Where's Tony's?". How can you eat at Tony's three times and NOT KNOW WHERE IT IS????? So, his best guess is fish. Trust me - he has no idea whether he liked it or not.
I DID NOT like my pasta. The marina sauce was pretty tasteless, except that it was spicy. How a sauce can be spicy and tasteless is beyond me. It was just very blah and the seafood was sort of overcooked and not overly abundant. This takes the prize for the worst meal of the trip. Everything else had been really good up to this point. I didn't really care that much because I was actually getting tired of eating big meals, so I only ate about 1/2 of it. This is unusual for me. I usually clean my plate. Something about the starving children in Africa line that my mom gave me as a child. It stuck. LJ DID NOT like his chicken nuggets. He said they "tasted wierd". He did love his 'make your own' sundae. I can't remember what everyone else had, but I do know someone had a yummy looking piece of cheese cake.
So you are probably wondering why I picked Tony's. I guess because I wanted to eat IN the park and DH and I had eaten at CP and the Plaza last trip and I really don't care for the LTT food in the summer. It's too much like Thanksgiving to be eating it in 90 degree weather. Furthermore, CRT is definately off the radar for teenage boys!
And this leads me to an observation I have made about dining in MK versus HS. I think MK has some really good CS places and there are quite a few CS places to choose from. In fact, I still have never eaten at Casey's. I guess I'm never near there at lunch time. However, the TS places at MK are really not my favorite. (Well, except I do like the CP breakfast). There is no place where you can just sit down and order a good meal that isn't a buffet, crappy Italian, or thanksgiving. On the other hand, HS has the worst CS places (IMHO) and a great variety of TS restaurants. I have now eaten at all the TS in HS. I pretty much like them all. My least favorite was Sci-fi dine in because my food was undercooked. But that was awhile ago. I understand they have the best hamburgers and shakes. So good, in fact, that I keep thinking about changing my Brown Derby Sept lunch ADR to a Sci-Fi lunch ADR. Trust me when I say that I have spent way too much time debating this. All opinions welcome!
But I digress. I am supposed to be talking about our evening at MK and, instead I am comparing CS and TS restaurants. After dinner we all headed over to ride Buzz. I did not take any pictures of our ride photos, which surprises me. I think I actually was starting to get tired of taking the camera out every two seconds. Here are some pics I took on the way to Buzz:
After Toy Story I made a grand offering. I offered to give DS16 and his friend my and DH's FP's for splash mountain. I know this was an extremely generous move for me, because it meant I would not be able to ride. But, I thought it was more important for LJ to get to ride with both his cousins. While the boys got in line I took countless picture of SpM.
First I started by trying to capture the boys as their log went around the little circle in front of the mountain:
Look....There they are....can you see them?
Then I tried taking pictures of the boats as they were going down the mountain. I was hoping to have the timing perfectly so I could capture the boys. Well....some of my pictures came out like this.....
And some like this.....
And some like this......
When what I was going for was this.....
When it was FINALLY time for the boys to drop all I got was..............
Haha!
