Kiawah Island

We would like to rent a home/townhouse/condo on the beach in Kiawah Island. Any recommendations on area or rental agencies?

Sorry, I can't answer your question because when we spent a week there, it was an owner letting us use their beautiful home.

But I just wanted to say that the island is so beautiful. We rode bikes, walked to the beach (it was late Oct, so no swimming for us), took long walks. It really was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed and look forward to returning again one of these days.

LOVE Kiawah! We always rent directly through the resort. We have always been pleased with our choices and the price. In winter we like to rent as close to the entrance as possible, but in the summer we love the turtle beach area. I like that they have 3 levels of accommodations. So east beach for summer puts you in the middle of the action.

We went through the resort as we like to do tons of the activities, so having nature preserve access is a plus for us. Oh and I suggest renting a beach setup. It's 2chairs and an umbrella set up for you on the beach every day.

Is turtle beach in the resort area? East beach is closer to the hotel and golf than West?

Yes to both. East beach is closer to the pool and golf area(we've never used the pool though)and the park.

West beach is closer to the entrance, where the old inn used to be. Closer to the shopping area just outside the resort, generally quieter.

If you are renting condo I can say go for upper floors,particularly if you are going for ocean front. The turtle bay(or is it beach.) area is a big area so you can be quite a walk from the beach access point. Be sure to watch that when you book. There really isn't parking near the beach unless you are in that particular unit. So be sure it's walkable if you are beach people.
