Keys to the Kingdom Tour

The tour gave some interesting facts about Walt Disney history. They explained the concepts behind Main Street and some information about the main contributors to its design. You get a chance to ride a few (2) rides, in our case Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. You get extra narration on the Jungle Cruise and they tell u where to find "hidden mickey's" in the Haunted Mansion.

You will get a tour of the underground tunnels (overrated!) We were taken there in the last 15 min of the tour.

Lunch was good at Columbia Harbor House. They have it waiting for you halfway through the tour and also have a little surprise waiting for you :)

We didn't particularly like the tour, but that was because we were expecting more "hidden secrets" and less history of the park. If you really want to see backstage areas of the park, then you should like it.

I enjoyed the extra information on what is done behind the scenes. The policy about keeping the public area magic by not giving mundane details in the hearing of the visitors. I liked the underground tour and seeing where the laundry, wigs, and computer banks were and how the trash was managed and the cast members entering and exiting through hidden doors.

DH and I did this tour in May. We loved it. I enjoyed hearing all the history and little tidbits we didn't previously know. Lunch was good and a nice sit down break in the air conditioning. We too rode Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion. Had a little problem with the headsets but the guide got new batteries at lunch and then there was no problem. One of the best parts was our tour was scheduled for just after opening and since you have to be there early they let us in and we were nearly the only people on Main St. Got a great pic of the two of us with the castle in the background and no other people. It was also fun to watch the people pour in at opening.

We didn't get to see very much in utilidors...just lots of lockers and lots of concrete...we saw a costume area further down the tunnel, but it was so far away all we saw was a half dressed Eeyore.

If you are taking the tour to see the tunnels, it's not really worth it. The tunnels are just dirty cement walkways...we thought there would be more to see. They take you upstairs to an office lobby behind main street where you can see a couple early pictures and some displays on appropriate CM apparel. We also got to see parade storage and ride parts being repainted.

We did the tour Dec 04, but you may get lucky and get to see more than we did. We got 2.5hrs of disney history and 1.5 hours of rides and backlot tours.
