Anyone who has done it, is it worth it? On our second MK day, since we don't actually have plans to go to the park until the afternoon, I thought it might be enjoyable to do this with a couple family members...Thoughts?

I've done it twice--once by myself and once with my husband. We LOVED it! It was a great experience, tons of fun, and we learned a lot as well. Just know that it is a lot of walking so make sure you're able to handle it and have on good shoes.

We did the tour on our January trip and loved it!!! I do agree with the previous comment about walking... There is a lot of it but there are some stops along the way. I would love to do the tour again someday

By the way, if you're an AP holder, DVC member (I think), AAA member (I think), or Disney Visa holder (pretty sure), you do get a discount. I got 10% off when I did both tours because we had APs.

Yes, a great tour. I have taken it several times, always excellent.

And yes, as mentioned, discounts for AP, DVC and AAA (sometimes), 15%, Disney Visa, 20%.

Part of it depends on who you get as a guide. I did it last Feb. and didn't totally care for our guide because I knew more then he did. Yes, I'm a geek and have read tons of books on Disney, so I knew a lot of what he was talking about and more.

Still, if you haven't done it before it's worth doing.

My husband and I did it and we had a terrific guide, so it was awesome! We were worried that it would ruin the "magic" by going backstage, but it didn't at all. Well worth it. Use the Disney Visa discount, if possible!

I did this tour with my Mom back in 2008 and we LOVED it! We had an awesome tour guide (who I am not even sure still does it), Matthew! He was amazing from start to finish. When we did the tour, it was only $60 per person and I know the price has gone up since. It includes 2 rides and lunch at my favorite, Columbia Harbor House. We did Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion. Lunch is ordered when you check-in before the tour starts and it is waiting for you upstairs at CHH, and the area is roped off for the tour group only, which was really nice.

You should definitely do it! :thumbsup2

I think my DH and I are going to do this for the first time in November. If we book the 8:30 tour, about what time should be expect to be done and ready for our own touring? Also, is it likely we'll want a little break after? We walk a lot, but standing for long periods without moving can get to me.

Took this tour and LOVED it. Maureen (call me Mo) was our guide and was super. She usually does the second tour but I got lucky and she was doing the first tour on my day. She's gotten lots of positive feedback on the reviews I read.

I did this my first day thinking my legs would be fresh but my feet were not yet in Disney mode and I ended up with some blisters. There are also stairs so if you have bad knees that may be a little harder to cope with.

They give you a bottle of water to begin with and even in March we needed it. You do walk and stand in the sun a bit.

We rode Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion on my tour. jungle cruise was great as the Captain really interacted with Mo and it was hilarious.

The lunch was at Columbia Harbor House. I got allergy free chicken and fries. But they did have some nice choices if you have no food restrictions.

Tour lasted the entire 5 hours, we were done just before 2. I did head back for a short break. I had set up FP for early evening at a different park.

I highly recommend the tour.

In case I can't get anyone to do it with me, was it bad doing it by yourself?

We took this tour with Matthew also and he was fantastic. Very knowledgable, fun and a bit of a diva, which made him and the tour all the more entertaining.

However, after doing the major tour at three different parks (KttK at MK, UnDISCOVERed Future World at EC and Backstage Safari at AK), I have to say that KttK, while really good and enjoyable, was our least favorite of the 3. We found that KttK was more like an entertaining history lesson (which we already knew a lot of the information already) and quick visits to the utilidors and where the floats are, where as the other 2 tours were more in-depth with the backstage areas.

I did all of my Disney Tours solo and they're awesome!

I love the fact that everyone gets their own personal microphone headset, so you can always hear the tour guide and ask questions.

It was a little awkward at first, but I had a great time. At lunch, I sat with our guide and a young man who had just turned 16--minimum age to go on the tour. It was still a lot of fun.

Not to give anything away, but I cried in the utilidoors. It sounds weird, but there's a very moving moment down there.

I had Matthew as my tour guide, as well! He's amazing, so funny and sweet. We took our tour on Epcot's 25th anniversary, and he gave me his special "cast members only" anniversary pin at the end of the tour (he said it was a thank-you for asking great questions on the tour!). I wonder if he's still giving tours - I would totally take the tour again if he was the tour guide!

We did it last September and I absolutely adored and loved every minute of it, and would do it again, especially because each guide changes the experience the slightest bit!

The "review" of the tour in my tr is here (there's a TON of detail so maybe skim through if you don't want anything spoiled. I personally read through a ton of experiences & details beforehand and it was still amazing)

We did KTTK on our LAST day, which was beneficial because we had a first timer with us. I would say that if you have someone who's never been, it might not be the best thing to do BEFORE you've gotten into MK at least once, my Mom was a little concerned that "it would ruin the magic" but after the tour she seemed fine and said she really did enjoy it. It doesn't really ruin any magic of how things work or anything (IMO) but for someone who's never been to disney it might be a little much for a first day adventure

We did the tour this May and we loved it! Our tour guide was Kevin. What we really appreciated was that he found areas for us to sit and stand in the shade as it was really hot that day. We did it half way through our trip. I believe this was a good strategy as we were used to walking and standing by then AND we had thought of some questions we wanted to ask.

I would highly recommend it! :goodvibes

This is a great tour! I did it with my dad 3 years ago it was fantastic! So much so that I am bringing my DH in November! :cool1:

My tour ended at right on time at 1:30, which was good because I had a Space Mtn FP for 1:00-2:00. I walk a lot too, and the standing at the end in the Utilidors was starting to get to me. But I survived, used my 3 FP and caught the monorail to Epcot, where I sat around a while waiting for the afternoon rain to stop. It was nice to sit a bit, my legs were tired that night!

I did not find anything awkward about doing the tour solo.
