Hi everyone, has anyone taken this tour. We are going in april . I booked this tour before thinking too much into it forgettting I have claustrophobia. I have always wanted to see how the tunnels work and now I am having second thought that I may have a panic attack doing the tour.:scared1: Has anyonwe done this tour? Will I feel really enclosed? Are they big wide hallways ? :sad2: I want to do this so bad but don't want to not be able to finish the tour. Please tell me it will be alright!:worship:

My husband did the tour. He said it wasn't bad at all - and he does not like confined spaces at all. Can't even have an MRI without sedation, and he's a grown man (sort of):)

The tunnels are large enough to drive a car in. There are a few tight hallways when you go backstage, but nothing for long periods of time.

I'm thinking about doing it on my birthday, did you have to pay in advance or will you pay when you arrive?

I have seen pictures of some parts on tv and it doesn't look all that confined, more like just regular hallways, but underground. I have to do it on an ECV, so I will have some challanges as well.

me and my wife did the tour last year and it was the best tour that we have ever been on we learned lots of cool little things and they gave us a nice keys to the kingdom pin at the end of the tour

When i called I paid with a credit card. I do believe you do pay in advance, but you may want to has someone with more dis experince than me. This tour will be my fist tour experience.

It is paid for when you book. If you cancel, they refund. make sure to ask for any discounts available to you.....AP, DVC, AAA or Disney Visa.

The 'tunnels' are very large, like walking through the hallways of a school...larger even.

Thank you, I will ask if I have time to call later. I wan't to use my Disney Visa so I can get that 20% off, but I have to make a payment first. :lmao:

I don't want to send this thread off on another tangent but I'm wondering where does the tour start and end? Also what time will you get back from the 9:30am tour? I'm going to be with my kids on the Family Magic tour and need to meet up with my DH when he's done with Keys to the Kingdom.

Just to let you know what happened to me today. When I first booked this tour at my 90 day mark I asked about the discount for Disney Visa. The CM said she looked, but that none was available. I kept insisting there should be, but she said no.

I double checked the Disney Visa website just in case, and sure enough it listed the discount for Keys to the Kingdom. I called back today and the CM I got this time explained that none of the discounts are loaded into the new reservation system yet. So if anyone is trying to book May 26th and after, you might run into this problem. The CM said I can take care of getting my credit when we arrive to go on the tour.

I will continue to try to call every couple of weeks in case they correct the problem before we get there. Otherwise, I guess we will try to be a little bit early so this can get taken care of.

DW and I are going 27 May - and we had no problem getting our discount. Using the new system did take FOREVER tomake the reservation though

Thanks for the feedback. I'm 0 for 2 with CM's. I guess I will call back again and see if I can't get someone who wants to give me the discount. (Did they give you a total so that you know for sure you got it?)

called last week and made reservation for same tour for may 24 and didn't have any problems it cost 52 dollars per person and my card has already been billed.

When I took it, to start the tour, we met at the Tour Garden, near City Hall.
It ended on Main Street, by the flag pole island.
It will finish around 2:00 - 2:30pm.

Not only did I get a total, but you have to pre-pay so I already have been billed. Can't wait to go. It is on our 20th anniversary and it is our first adult only trip!!!!

Yes, I know about the pre-pay, they just charged my card the full amount! :sad2:

I didn't want to not make the reservation, so I just figured it will eventually get worked out.

Congratulations on your 20th, hope you have a wonderful time! Our trip is celebrating our 10th, but it will be with the kids.:)

I feel guilty hijacking but I have always wondered....

My mom has knee issues, arthritis and other ailments. She doesn't use a wheelchair or ECV because it's not too bad but she walks at a significantly slower pace and needs to take breaks at times. Will we be able to do this? Is it a slow moving tour? Or should I just load her up with vicodin?

Thanks

It is not a slow moving tour. You walk at a normal adult pace, but you do stop frequently to see what the guide is pointing out. I think your Mother would have trouble. Although, because of the stops you would be able to "catch up", you would be behind and miss seeing what the guide is talking about. We had one rest stop/bathroom break and one lunch break on a nearly 6 hour tour.
We loved it. The tunnels are not overly enclosed at all.
Have a great trip.
