Sigh. Was all ready to enter for the new Keys to the Magic Kingdom Sweepstakes, chance to win your family a VIP clear-the-park trip to MK...you guessed it. Only open to US residents.

Okay, I entered without a problem...and I found this.

Q: Why are Guests outside of the United States and Canada restricted from entering your contests?

A: We regret that our international Guests are not able to participate in many of our online contests. Due to strict laws in other countries governing online contests, it is difficult for us to register our sweepstakes outside of the United States.

It seems that Canadians CAN enter this sweepstakes....unless you know something I don't know?? Do you have any details??

The "Keys.." contest states that you must physically reside in one of the 50 US states. The contest at playhouse Disney, however, is open to Canadians (except those from Quebec). http://playhouse.go.com/v1/marketing/index.html

I know it's a bummer we can't enter the online contest but don't forget - we Canadians can still win when we're at the parks ...

The official news release from Disney indicates:
And, for the first time, during the "Year of a Million Dreams" celebration, Disney cast members will award a million dreams – both large and small, including many "money-can't-buy" experiences – to guests selected through a random process as part of a unique "Disney Dreams Giveaway" promotion.

"Throughout this incredible celebration, special dreams and unique experiences once thought impossible will be awarded by our cast every day," said Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. "Disney parks are always the place where dreams come true – but even more so during the 'Year of a Million Dreams.' "

In addition, during the year-long celebration, other Disney dreams both large and small will be awarded in the "Disney Dreams Giveaway" promotion, such as:

Traveling to each Disney resort around the world to serve as grand marshal in a Disney parade.

A variety of unique Disney vacation experiences.

Admission to special parties and other extraordinary experiences in the Disneyland and Walt Disney World parks.

Private meetings with favorite Disney characters.

Or, a Golden FASTPASS ticket with unique access entitlements to some of Disney's most popular attractions.

As far Canadian and Disney, we always get the short end of the stick. Just look at the most basic thing: Disney Store, it's far worse than any Disney Stores in the US. I would LOVE to buy ties, shirts, jacket, CDs, watches, housewares related to Disney, but none of it is available at Canadian Disney Stores.

I remember way back when Disney Stores in Canada was a heaven for me to buy shirts (not T-shirts), ties and watches.
