I'm going down for a special birthday at the end of the month. I've lived in Tampa for a while but have never been to Key West. I have reservations for two nights at a B & B down there for my boyfriend and myself. We're also going to do one night in Miami on the way there. We have reservations for a sunset glass bottom boat cruise with champagne on my birthday and a pub crawl the night before...Any other suggestions (especially about restaurants...I want a really special meal while I'm there.)

OHHHHHHH, I love Key West...
Give me a minute and i'll think about a place to eat...
It's a very relaxing - laid back town...

We love Key West. Dh and I aren't drinkers, but you can't beat having a frozen drink while watching the sun set in Key West. We have stayed in many quaint conk cottages in Key West but we love staying at the Ocean Key Resort, Zero Duval Street, and being in the heart of downtown in walking distance to everything. We love Key West for the great seafood restaurants, quaint shops, we always like doing the trolly tour. We enjoy checking out the southern most point area, the Turtle Kraals area with all the boats and we especially love the architecture which greatly reminds me of New Orleans. One negative is that I don't like the crowds that go to the sunset celebration - but when we stay at the Ocean Key Resort, we watch the sunset from their pool area that is for guests only.

Here are a few casual (but great!) seafood restaurants that we like. They aren't fancy or anything so I don't know if these are the type of restaurants you are looking for:

Here are a couple of the best restaurants in Key West - I have heard raves about them but have not actually tried them. We like to be more casual while in Key West! But, if you want something extra special/expensive - here you go. I've also seen them on several tv travel shows about Key West:

Nicely done, Lucas....Very nice suggestions...
Much better than the silly post i made... :rotfl2:

From a locals POV I can tell you that Louie's Backyard is still our favorite place. Also like Blue Heaven (if you're not afraid of the chickens) and Kelly's (actress Kelly McGillis's place). Been wanting to try the local Shula's, but haven't made it yet.

I have Blue Heaven on my list of places to go next time i'm in Key West...but now you have scared me with the chicken comment...Being deathly afraid of birds - can you explain what you meant by that? If there are chickens walking around that place, i'm immediately crossing that off my list...as a matter of fact, maybe i'll just cross it off my list now - I take no chances when it comes to birds...
