The Blond Giraffe key lime pie was AMAZING!! I had a traditional slice, but they even have it frozen on a stick and dipped in chocolate. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.
Has anyone visited the Butterfly Conservatory? I'm trying to decide if this would be a good tour for our group which includes my 7 y/o niece and my MIL.
I may be the odd one out---My mom and I didn't think it was all that great....(we are strange that we love publix key lime pies and appreciate a creamier klp than what the Blonde Giraffe had). Also I was pregnant with severe morning sickness (like super super bad without me realizing it at that particular time).
I'd be interested in other places to get good Key Lime Pie though so I can sample some more when we go back in November to visit my mom.
When dd was 5 we did the Conch Train (DD5 slept through most of it), and the Butterfly Conservatory which she really enjoyed. We also enjoyed the Mallory Square entertainment around sunset.
When DD was 6 we did the Trolley, and stopped at the Hemingway house, Southernmost point, and the Aquarium. DD6 really got a kick out of petting the nurse sharks! We also watched the "Cat Man" at Mallory Square. This bizarre person had trained house cats doing tricks. It was a strange, and amazing performance!
Does anyone know if the "Cat Man" still performs at Mallory Square?
I have and the only real comment I can make is WHY DIDN'T THEY HAVE SOMETHING THAT INTERESTING WHEN I WAS GROWING UP" - Listen if you will go to the chamber of Commerce which is located right there at Mallory Square, they will not only give you coupons for 10% off for the Butterfly farm, but will answer any and all questions you may have.
Always

The Southermost point is at the end of Whitehead Street which you can get to from Mallory Square - if there isn't small children, the walk is almost 2 miles- remember KW is a 2X4 island (almost 2 miles, but we have always said 2 miles) Duval Street is the longest street in the world for it goes from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean (just a little tidbit you might be interested in).Anyone know how far it is to the Southern most point from the docks? Can you walk to it? Thanks!
Wow! That's not too bad...Thanks... I guess you are the person to ask for all things Key WestI wanted to know your opinion about the Pirate Soul museum, we are crusing in December and are thinking of going there, but on our own. Diseny does offer an excursion, but it is also to the Shipwreck Historeim, we are going to do one or the other. Have you been to these places? If so, which do you like better? Thanks for your help!
Frozen Key lime pie dipped in chocolate?? That sounds interesting. Can you tell me how far the Blond Giraffe is? Can we walk there from the port?
I've never been to the "giraffe" but loved both the pie and the atmosphere at Kermits. If he is there his personality is lots of fun.
