Key West Packets

Hey there - Norm and I will be heading "home" on the 19th of this month for only to see our families, but check out some stuff in Key West and bring back as much info as possible -
To those that have sent for the packages and you are not cruising until after we get back, please know I have your requests ready to take down with me and I will fill them up in Key West and also mail it from there - it will have a Key West postmark - anyone that wants these packets can write me at snelsonbrown@aol.com - they are yours for the asking.

BTW - this may be easier for all of you - you need to mail me a large manilla envelope (SELF ADDRESSED) with $3.50 worth of stamps on it - mail it to THE PERFECT GIFT, 6550 NORTH ATLANTIC AVENUE, CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA 32920.
I fill it up and send it back to you - there has been numberous remarks that it has helped quite a bit in my hometown - it will include a map, coupons etc so that you at least know what you are planning ok
It does save you $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and NO THERE IS NO KICKBACKS, NOTHING, NADA ETC IN IT FOR ME - just helping you understand my hometown a little better.

Shirley ~ I'll be sending my envelope in a few months to you. We are going on the 7/17/04 DCL western. I am really looking forward to receiving all the wonderful Key West information that you put together for your DIS friends. When we first cruised a few years ago I ordered 2 baskets from you and had the pleasure of talking to you on the phone. Of course the baskets were WONDERFUL and you were so kind, offering help in any way while we were in Florida. I feel like we have a friend in Cape Canaveral that we could call on if we needed anything. You're a great ambassador for the great state of Florida!!

Shirley, By chance did you know a lady named Bea K.? (The initial of her last name is K. I omitted the complete last name for privacy.) She lived in a trailer park on that little island where the dog track was and worked in a fish processing plant. I think her place was off Maloney or Front.

I've got some great memories of hanging out at her place and going out on the fishing boats back in the 80s.

My last visit was June, 1989. I'll finally get to see KW again on my 2/28 western cruise. Wish I could get hooked up with some paella while I'm there.

Hey Sam,
I don't recall the name, but I sure will ask Norman - he was a mailman down there for 40 years and he knew EVERYBODY - the little island you are talking about is Stock Island - I tell you GOOD Paella is very hard to find anymore down there - you no longer have very many ol' cuban conchs down there that can cook it - the only one that I know makes it awesome is Roberto's here in Cocoa Beach - BTW - the dog track is being torn down to make way for more housing - Key West has changed so much that I don't even recognize it anymore - there is stuff always popping up down there that amazes the devil out of me - I do not even know where they get the ideas that they get - my family is most likely turning in the graves - but it is call progress - you still have to watch those tee shirt shops for they will "get ya" money wise AND they are so good at it.
I will try and find out where is the best place to eat - I have tried Siboney's on Catherine St, but their cooking has gotten lousy - now there is a Bea's on Bertha Street, but I do not know if it is still open - Hey come to think of it, that may be the Bea you are looking for. Anyhow it is on the corner of Flagler and Bertha - right accross what use to be Chico's Lounge.

PS EVERYBODY - if you want your packets early - just go ahead and send me your envelope now and I will fill it up while I am in Key West - I have about 20 or so now I am taking with me - no problem - glad to do it.

thanks for the come back - hope all is well in your world - yep Norm and I are heading out on the 18th instead of the 19th - we decided to play tourist for a couple of days - we are talking about even going down on Duval Street and that is something Norm does not do very well - I am going to be able to go to the library to do some research for the family and of course spend time with all the family down there - Norm is expecting his first granddaughter sometime in the next 10 days so we hope to be there for it - another little conch.

I decided to bump this again since Norm and I leave in about a week to go back home - I have about 30 packets to fill while in Key West and hope that the merchants will realize that people out there are interested in Key West and they need to be treated right - sooooooooooo I hope they give you good discounts - will let you know what I find out when i get back - I won't have any connections to email so will keep notes and give you all a report of it all - this is the first time Norm and I are going 'home" for such a long time - gosh it is going to be fun even tho just about all my family is now gone - but home is home regardless.
Anyhow if you are still interested in these packets - you have less than one week to get them to me.

I am hoping that these packets will be the best yet going - folks in Key West just doesn't really believe that this board has such am impact on their business so I intend to print this out and show them - also know THERE IS NO STRINGS ATTACHED AND NO THERE IS NO KICKBACKS OF ANY KIND IN THIS FOR ME - I just want you each to be treated good while in my hometown -
