Anyone remember the pod docking stations? Oh, yeah, some got stolen, most got broken. Now they are being replaced with ordinary radios/clocks.

And you wouldn't get Keurig. You'd probably get the same one they have in the hotel rooms - Cuisinart pods.

Don't drink coffee, don't need any coffee pot at all.

That's interesting - I hadn't seen an iPod dock in a Disney hotel but I can tell you that the one in our DCL stateroom earlier this month didn't work at all. I think anything like that is bound to get broken sooner rather than later.

Personally I would love a Keurig, not because of the brand name, but the ability to brew a cup of coffee at a time. I'm the only coffee drinker in the family and to me it's just wasteful to brew a full pot of coffee for only me. We stayed at a Hilton a few weeks ago, and they had this nifty little coffee maker that brewed 2 cups at a time side by side. I think something like that would be perfect for the studios, leaving full size coffee makers in the 1/2 bedroom units and Grand Villas.

It's a toss up for me, I am the only coffee drinker and love my Keurig at home as I hate making a pot that goes to waste. However, when I am on vacation, I don't spend time in the room in the mornings to drink coffee, I am usually off to the parks.

Hard to see the logic of "don't want to increase my dues" when everyone is already paying for appliances in the DVC villas whether they are used or not.

But why replace good, working coffee pots with more expensive Keurigs? Isn't that a waste of money? Much like if they'd replace the current, working stoves with induction cooktops just because they can.

Vote me in as a no on Keurig. .....(snip)..... K-cups aren't recyclable, goes against the big Disney recycle push.
I guess they could get a Vue cup maker, but I'd still say no.

I agree. The convenience of the one cup brewers does not even come close to outweighing the environmental concerns for me.

We go to V&As and have some sensational coffee from their Cona vacuum brewers..... nothing like it!

We have the big Cuissinart in the kitchen but bought a Keurig Mini just for WDW. Fits perfectly into one of those $16k DVC bags. Then again, we drive now and never fly anymore so I can't speak to dealing with them while flying, though I can't imagine it being a problem in a suitcase. The minis aren't that big. It's not my Cuissinart but it'll do in a pinch.

I would think that a keurig would be great. I love my keurig. I could see it as a sign of the times. Everything gets replaced including CRT TVs (tube). I hardly think that a keurig would make a big dent in fees. You might even be surprised how much the reg coffee pots cost.

I would argue that point with you I'd love to have a "coffee pod-off" with you one day. I bet I could get 10 cups brewed, if not faster, at least as fast as it takes one whole pot to brew.

And... everyone can have whatever they want, like flavored, decaf, regular, bold... etc.

I'll take the time challenge. My Bunn coffee machine makes a full pot in less them 3 minutes. My DW is a coffee "expert" (LOL) and she and very many others who buy "gourmet" coffee hate the pods. At a hospital waiting room they had a Keurig and there was a long wait and I wasn't impressed with the taste or the time it took.
Added to the fact that the cost of pods is extremely high compared to regular coffee and gourmet coffee. For example the best sale I have seen for pods came to app. 35 cents per pod. That comes out to 3.5 per pot of coffee!!!! I just bought a name brand container of coffee for $7 that makes 24 10 cup pots or less them 3 cents a cup!!!
Added to the fact that national testing firms did extensive public taste testing and very few could tell the difference between drip coffee and pods and that included consumers who have pods and claimed beforehand they could taste the difference. So you just keep bringing your portable machine and let the majority of DVCers not be forced to pay the extremely high cost for something only a few want.

Agreed. We switched to Keurig and our coffee expenses haven't changed much. If anything, we waste less.

Put me in with the "No" crowd too. It's bad enough that everything seems to come packed in plastic these days. I have no need to add a mountain of those plastic K-cups to the pile.

Call me old fashioned, but I am fine using a 12 cup maker and a paper liner.

I do the same. When we have company over its silly to sit around and brew each person's cup. But when it's just us, it's a godsend. I'm a tea drinker and he's a coffee drinker, so it's nice not to boil a pot of water and make a whole pot of coffee for us to have one cup of each.

Which brings me back to the original subject...wouldn't it be nice if us Keurig devotees had the option to upgrade, or if the Keurig was standard would there be pots available upon request for those who prefer the standard method?

I've hauled the platinum model along a few times but I drive an SUV, so plenty of luggage space. I stuck it in a large LL Bean tote - the stiffer kind.

However, my coffee of choice is a press pot - I have one that makes about 2 and a half cups. The press pot is much smaller and more convenient to travel with when staying in a villa.

Does anyone actually drink the horrible coffee that they leave in the rooms? Now that stuff is terrible! A definite waste of my dues money. I use the sugar packets in the coffee service and that is it. The rest is a waste. I'd rather get a pack of laundry detergent in a studio than that coffee, or a couple of bottles of water.
