Kerry voters, why are you voting for him

One of the main reasons I'm voting for Kerry is because I believe we need to do more in regards to securing our nation from terrorist attack. I feel that the current administration applied a couple of small band-aids to the issue, and then focused their efforts and resources on Iraq. I would like to see our ports more secure, and our national monuments (as they are obvious targets) better guarded. I believe Kerry will address these issues--and he has talked about them, it isn't that he's not it is that it isn't being reported in the media--as well as other issues that are important to me as an American citizen. I would also like to see our troops in Iraq better supported (by other countries contributing more to the rebuilding effort, so that more of our men and women can come home). I think Kerry will be able to bring other countries in to share the responsibilities of rebuilding Iraq, so that our personnel and financial burdens on that front are lessened. There are many other reasons I support Kerry, but these are the ones in the forefront of my mind today.

I am voting for Kerry because of the supreme court nominations he might make as president. I admit to despising Mr. Bush, but in general I fear him less "for the next four years" than in who he might appoint to the high court. A supreme court justice appointed by Bush will linger way longer than W. himself. I always (at least in part) vote for the candidate I think will appoint more reasonable justices.

I don't like that Clarence Thomas is in a position to decide cases about sexual harassment. I strongly support the rights of gay Americans and I don't believe a Bush nominee would do so. I don't believe a Bush nominee will have a strong enough committment to separating church/state or looking out for womens' rights. Kerry's views more closely match my own, and I therefore believe that he will appoint supreme court justices that I find reasonable.

That was 100% intentional. Were I to provide links and evidence you would only slam my sources as biased or site the situations as trivial. You asked for my OPINION which is what I provided. I certainly don't believe Bush supporters opinions are backed up by his record, and all the links in the world wouldn't change my mind of that. I have no doubt you feel the same way about Kerry. If however you are actually interested in reading about Kerry all the information is available to you and any other interested parties... just do a Yahoo! search. You can find Kerry's senate voting record, articles from major news sites dating through all 14 years hes spent as a Senator including his inquiry into the Contras, breaking up of BCCI, and everything else I sited.

Which also happens to be at the very top of my list (and you forgot that the "right to privacy" would likely be wiped away by a Bush appointee).

The good news is that the Dems in Congress won't allow that to happen regardless. So long as the right wingnuts don't achieve a super-majority (60+), any ridiculously right wing appointee would be filibustered out of the building.

As to Shrub's record, don't make me laugh. Terrorism is up. The economy is down. Hatred towards America is up. Willingness on the part of our allies to cooperate with America is down. Poverty is up, while the number of insured people in this country is down. The country is more divided than it's probably been in decades, if not longer.

Bush HAS no record to run on...only one to run away from. That's why his side can do nothing but attack while the Kerry camp attempts to address the difficult issues we're facing as a nation.

I feel no need to feed someone a reason to contradict me. I vote for who I choose, that's the American way.

Whether someone agrees with it or not is not my concern, if I'm not mistaken NO recent president has won with 100% of the vote.

if i were to be honest, i'd also have to say a primary reason i am voting for kerry is that he is a democrat and my industry tends to do better when we have a democrat in office. i always joke with dh that when he votes republican, he votes to put me out of work.

I would think congressional records or links to data on John Kerry's own web site would be difficult to dispute.

Has Kerry said how he plans to do that, other than getting France on board? I've not heard him discuss specifics in this area. I would welcome any specifics anyone has.

Certainly a valid reason I can see as reason to vote for Kerry.

Many above have stated why I am voting for Kerry. The Supreme Court nominations, I feel he has a better plan to keep the nation safe. heck I have looked at his fact sheets on his website and feel they are better plans than Bush's. Of course, who knows how much can actually get done.

And now to the ABB part. Bush in office scares me. Heading to Iraq and the brainwashing of Americans into believing Saddam was behind 9/11.

The fact that Bush is pulling out of one of 3 scheduled debates. Why? Because independent citizens may ask him a question that he doesn't have a prepared answer for?

Th fact that you can't even go to any of his campaign speeches unless you sign a form stating that you will vote for him (same with Cheney). What is that about? Why are they so afraid of the oppostion?

If Bush & Co. can't stand up to Democrats and Independents in their own country, then how a I supposed to believe that they can stand up to any other kind of oppostion they may face?

Our 'strong allies", in fact, did assist us back in March. I wouldn't necessarily consider those who refused to assist us to be our "strong allies". An argument can be made that France, in fact, is not our ally at all.

Do you think referring to these allies as "the coalition of the bribed and coerced" is indicative of diplomacy or even good foreign policy?

I never did say they said it. But if you remember the start of the Iraq war, there were several polls done and an astounding number of people believed that Saddam was behind 9/11. Some of my co-workers also believed it. And somehow they believed the president had said it. I said he never did, but that's what they believed. The misdirection of the White House from Osama to Saddam may have made people think this way. So I got my information from real life. Before F911 came out. Although he did touch on it in the movie. And when I saw that I remembered how it had happened. These co-workers of mine now feel mislead by the administration. I gave them an "I told you so" and they said they should have listened to me.



Funny how you comment on that, but none of you comment on how the administration can't face anyone asking them questions that aren't prepped. And why should e even bother campaigning if he is just going to preach to the choir?

Face it, he's a puppet. I want a president who can make his own decisions. Someone who reads the paper and knows what is going on in the world.

your coworkers didn't pay attention to what was being said, so they didn't understand what was being said, and now they think the admin misled them?
