Kerry Supporters: Some Consolation

So, if there is a future Bosnia situaation you guys will be able to handle it all on your own? Good to know

Hang on. The EU has a rapid response unit of 60,000 troups. The UN holds massive power. No-one needs to 'go it alone'.

And please don't trivialise any nation. As you full well know the Black Watch has been deployed at America's request to fill out the American army.

No nation is all powerful. Even if it is an island.

Where was Arafat's compassion for the people he murdered? I have absolutely no compassion for the man. He can't die soon enough.

Although this is a view, I'd encourage you to think carefully. The Koran, the Bible, the Scriptures, virtually all religion, urges you to treat all men the same and not to will death on another, no matter what. I would take my enemy into my house if he was suffering; in World War II, the Nazis and the Japanese in particular shunned this idea.

You may hate him, but you mustn't let that hate seep into you. Evil begets evil and you are better than that ::yes::

interesting analysis.

the European Union as a superpower? it's very possible.

I suspect the British will become more firmly aligned with the european Union as time goes by, it's really in their best interest.

and wehre does that leave the US?

all alone in theworld.

scary thought.

We already have the UK as an ally. The only ones we don't have are the ones that were being bribed by Saddam. So, frankly, I'm not sure I want them as allies.

Why wasn't anyone asking Clinton to heal a divided nation when LESS THAN HALF the people voted for him both times he got elected.

Well....dragging Clinton into this seemed a bit desperate...

First, The President talked about healing the Nation the day after the election....

Second, the President brags about the Coalition of Allies...including the UK....

Third, how can you find fault in wishing the President well in the tasks ahead?

Fourth, I think I pray to the same God the President does...am I not allowed?

I still don't understand the Clinton comment....

Do people know that all of western Europe would fit into cowboy country? Driving from San Antonio to Pheonix is roughly the same as driving from Paris to Algiers. (If one could.) Madrid to Istanbul = Lexington, KY to Las Vegas.

Just saying. You might want to consider scale when you think of cowboy-Americans, in places where Bush is good, terrorists (even famous ones) are bad. I doubt there's anything one can do about the polar opposite views.

Okay, replace Clinton with any other Democrat that has been elected recently...say...uh...er... well...hmmmmm.... okay, Carter!!!! Look how close that election was. Every election is divided. My point it, is seem liberals only want to talk about "healing a divide" when a Republican is in office. Why is that?

That's my point. It doesn't matter what the rest of the world thinks of us, because we will always be there ready to do the right thing.

What are you now, my Bishop? Spare me the moral lecture. I don't hate him. He's not worth the energy to spend on that. I just will not mourn his death and just wish he would get it over with. How about this? He will be in a better place. Does that make you feel better?

I repeat....

George W Bush talked about healing the Nation the day after the elections...

Are you inferring that the Nation should not be healed...or at the least...an attempt made?

I don't think America will be left "all alone". As long as countries remain friends, there is always much to gain from each side.

No-one's going to give up on you :)

Clinton, by the way, is only relevant to the debate in hand if you want him to be. He is, at least in this context, superfluous.

I hate to say this, but you've not only missed the point but you've also overshot it by many miles. The point was that no-one is alone in the world, we're all in it together.

Not to say that your actions are wrong, but it's a bit silly to assume you speak for hundreds of millions of people isn't it? No-one is perfect!

I'm not your Bishop by the way and it wasn't a lecture, just a reproachful remark from a shocked student. I wasn't actually quite wxpecting such a volatile response, so I do beg your pardon :)

If we are ever going to repair this "divide" we all talk about, I think we need both internal and external help. Which is why I think it does matter how we are viewed in other countries. I speak with some degree of personal experience on this subject so let this be heard-As part of a work related transfer, I just spent 6 months living and working in Mexico chased by 6 months living in Europe preceded by another 6 months of long visits overseas all over.

I learned two important lessons-first, right now, MOST other countries think we are bullies because of our actions in the war and in general since 9-11.

The second, is I love this country and our democratic system, which allows discussions like these and a varying degree of opinions.

The second point makes me appreciate the first point more-we should care about how other countries view who we put in the White House a bit, because other countries are obviously affected by the decisions America makes. Should we poll Europe when we elect a president? No. Should we consider listening to the voices of others? Maybe, especially when we shoulder these war and death burdens essentially alone.

(PLEASE, Bush fans, don't counter with a "grand coalition" in Iraq- nobody buys it)

But feel proud, whatever end of the political spectrum you are on, that we can talk freely like this.:D

"....is seems liberals only want to talk about "healing a divide" when a Republcan is in office..."

Picturing the day after speech, where President Bush talks about healing the nation...

picturing him as a liberal...

picturing Cheny & Rove finding out "W" went liberal on them...

Wow!

The question will remain who gets to decide what the right thing is. And right for whom?

You have to be rubber, I'll take glue. I'm allergic to latex.:wave2:

To quote the Kid Rock song... I wanna be a cowboy baby!
I weep for my generation.

dmadman - are you angry today or something? Because you almost seem to be going off the deep end a bit with your posting on this thread?

In my opinion let the divide become bigger and bigger. And when Bush falls in the gaping hole he created will there be change in a positive direction.

I love reading the different points of view on topics such as this...

There have been several good points made... and if anyone can figure out how to please the entire nation and all the other nations in the world, create a surplus, etc all at the same time, let me know... You've got my vote!;)
