Okay - this isn't entirely a DVC question, but it does somewhat relate and I wanted suggestions from those who spend the most time down there!

We have a dog that we would consider taking with on the road trip down to Florida, but then we'd need to board here down there. I see there in the membership book that there are kennels at each park. Has anyone used any of them? I would be most interested in the one at Epcot since we're BCV people. Are they clean? Is there a vet handy? Can we bring some of our own stuff?

We have never used one of their kennells, I hope someone who has will answer. The main problem I see is that they do not walk your dog for you. You have to go walk him/her. Not only is this a hassle but I would feel so bad going to see him and then leaving him over and over and over again. We always just leave our animals at the vets here. That way, we only have to feel bad leaving him once!

yes - they are clean and yes I bring my own stuff - I think my pets like it if it feels and smells more like home.

First of all don't take your animals unless you are going to devote time for him/her. Spicey, my cat, require walks - I probably spend around 2 hours per day walking him (some time longer) - he decides.

Dogs are easier - they are so happy to see you and they let you pick the route and the time.

Epcot is nice and has some good walking paths near the kennel. FW is also very nice. Epcot has that new program where they will walk your animals - $2.50 per walk -(or was).

Spicey is a regular visitor at both Epcot and FW - he enjoys the time at both places - he gets away from brothers and sisters and me.... .... he seems to really like the alone time that he gets at WDW. he only has a fit when the car is packed and I come to get him - he does not want to leave (since Mother does not either - she is no help) - so they are both pretty difficult for the first couple of hours.....

I bring his blanket, food, cat litter (does not like what they use), toys -

My DW and DD have used the kennels with our show dogs when they combined a dog show in Orlando with a brief stay at WDW. The kennels are very nice. The one at FW was fairly flexible about allowing you to exercise your dog. It was a little inconvienent having to leave the parks every so often to take care of the dogs.

On balance, it may be better not to take the dogs if this is going to be a problem. On normal trips to WDW, we leave our dogs with a kennel or a dog siter.

If you are staying at BCV you have two choices TTC & FW kennels. The other park kennels do not take overnight pets. I would suggest FW. The CMs are wonderful they remember our pets and are just great to them. You will need to bring vaccination verification for your dog and make sure he has the special kennel shot. Sorry cant remember the name so check with your vet otherwise he will be housed in outside cages. Both our dog & cat have stayed there and we bring their food and then feed them ourselves.

Do the kennels have runs? If yes, are they indoor/outdoor runs?

Or are the kennels closer in size to the small crates approved for airline safety, with just enough room to turn around.

I do not mind walking my two dogs a few times a day. However, if they are going to be in a kennel for 10+ days, then I would like for them to have at least a short run to walk during the times that I'm not there.

Has anyone seen how much space the dogs have in the kennel? Thanks!
