Just looking for information on this as my ds11 is interested in space, dh would enjoy it but I don't think I would. Thinking the 2 of them could go, although not sure i'd like the parks alone. We don't have transport.

Hi

Just wanted to say are you sure you wouldn't enjoy it?

The first time I went I didn't really want to go but it ended up being my favourite place and I couldn't wait to go back on the next trip.

Admittedly I won't be going next year as my DDs are too young but as soon as they're old enough I'll be going back.

If I was left to my own devices for a day I would definitely hit the shops - Depending on where you're stopping I'm sure somebody will be able to tell you how to get to the malls without a car. :thumbsup2

Thank you, I'l look into it more but it does'nt sound like my cup of tea.

Its not really my thing either, but i went and really enjoyed it! there is more to it than you think it was a great day out!!

We thought it was great and will probably spend 2 days there next time :) (want to do the astronaut experience!) I can understand why people don't like it if they don't find space stuff interesting but I think just the scale of the buildings, spacecrafts and the area it's in needs to be seen to be believed ;) If you do find you have a park day to yourself I would recommend Epcot, I visited there on my own last year (bf was ill that day) and it was great to explore the WS countries in detail.

Thanks guys. think I may give it a try as it seems quite a few of you felt like me & enjoyed it. Tyke - Thanks for the links.
Lizzie - Great minds think alike, I was thinking of EPCOT if I stayed behind.

dh would enjoy it but I don't think I would. .[/QUOTE said:
Dw said the same, but came with us on the day.
She was absolutely facinated by it all - even became quite emotional when she realised the hardship and bravery of the early astronauts, and those who gave their lives in the pursuit of space exploration.
The centre is a wonderful experience for everybody - go watch the imax films and the other presentations and I imagine you will also be amazed by this facinating place.

I thought the same and reluctantly went this year....BUT it turned out to be one of the best days, it was absolutely amazing and the sheer size of the rockets they have there is jaw dropping. We especially liked the tour out to view the launch pads and the 3D film all about the space station. My children (boy & girl) were 8 and 6 at the time and had an amazing day. Give it a go, I am sure you will enjoy it. We would love to go again and see all the things we didn't get time to do this time.

I'll likely be in minority here, but I hated it and will never go again!
I was so bored!

I'd stop home alone anyday.............Either a park for the day (single rider lines are great fun. I often do them anyway on bigger rides if DH isn't feeling up to joining me)

Or shopping for the day.in peace without having to spend half the time in Electrical shops when I'd prefer shoes.

Or a good work out or run, followed by just chilling by the pool if the sun is shining....resting with a cocktail in my hand.ah bliss! Just like a real holiday for the day :goodvibes

We loved it. We did the tour around the air station, which was fab and really moving in places. Get there early and get on an early tour, before the late risers get there so the numbers are smaller. DS (11 then) really enjoyed the tour and seeing real space history close up, being able to go into the control rooms that were used for the early flights.

:) Chris

Thanks everyone, we're going to decide when we're there as we leave tommorrow. We have a day earmarked for it (unfortunately a Saturday, when it's suppossed to be busiest) and I'm going to go with them if we arrange it.

Sharon I hope you all have a fab time, think we are going to have a day at KSC when we go, have lots of fun and tell us all about it when you get back:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

If you do go use plenty of insect repellant.

I HATED KENNEDY SPACE CENTRE! My kids really did not enjoy it that much either. But i imagine if you ds is into space stuff he may like it.

ON THE OTHER HAND..........I would give alot to be in the parks on my own. I have gone with just me and Dh and have spent like and hour alone while kids are off with Dh doing soemthng else and the park seems to be SOOOO different and almost more MAGICAL when in adult mode. Not having to worry who is hungry who is sleepy who has to pee who needs a drink, who wants to sit where............ I think you would enjoy it.

Disney property is sprayed frequently to keep down the number of biting insects. KSC on the other hand is, I believe, in the middle of a nature reserve and very "buggy". I was bitten quite badly during our visit and have read of other visitors having the same problem.
