Tell me about the keister coaster. My kids saw a picture and want to stay at BWI now just for the slide. It looks like it's much longer than the ones we've been on at WL and AKL. Is it pretty fast? Thanks for any info.

my kids are 5 and 6, they loved it! it is faster than the one at AKL, and it curves as it goes down, but they were able to wear life jackets and could not get enough of this slide!
they liked the one at beach club, too..but they did say they liked BW slide better.

When we visited in September '06, DS (8) and DD (turned 3 on our trip) rode it.

DD is a daredevil though. The lifeguard chuckled when he seen DD, and asked me if I'm sure she won't be scared. DD looked at the lifeguard and said, I'm not scared and rolled her eyes.

Both kids rode it over and over and over and over!

It's does look scary because it goes round and round, but it's not anything, really.

Just an aside - BWI pool is probably my least favorite resort pool. The whole area is very hotel-ish, rather than resort-ish. Does that make sense? I'm comparing it to AKL with lush foliage, or Poly/GF with the white sand beach and a view of the lake.

BWI - besides that dang clown head - looks like a thousand hotel pool areas.

I agree....it is tough to walk around from one section to another, at least for me, with 3 kids in different age groups. My DD10 said it wasnt that great...we just returned, and was hoping it would still be under construction so we could go to SAB! (Sorry BWV/BWI lovers:( )
And the pool at AKL..wow...you cant even compare! Beautiful...great playground area for kids....beautiful surroundings...perfect for kids in my opinion:)

Now you all are making me have second thoughts. We weren't crazy about AKL, much preferred WL, but I thought my boys might be getting too big for the WL slide. When we saw the one at BWI, it looked a lot bigger and thought it might be a better choice, but now I don't know.

Leslie...one thing I have learned on the DIS...everyone has their own opinions...based on THEIR experiences!!

How old are your boys? If they liked it...then by all means go for it!!! YOu want to make your kids happy..who cares what we say! lol

My boys are 7 and 9. Are the pictures deceiving, or is it really a bigger slide than the ones at AKL and WL?

Never been to WL...I do think the Keister slide looks bigger in photos! My DD10 said it went slow....she only went on it once and then played with my DD19 mths old the rest of the time!

I would try going to allears.net to look at some more photos:) Or even here...I know its such a tough decision resort selection!

I prefer the BWI/BWV pool to the AKL pool. My kids definitely prefer the slide at BWI. I like the rocking chairs at the BWV pool. I can sit in the shade, read the paper, watch the kids; it's very relaxing. There are also two very nice quiet pools.

The BWI slide is wonderful. It is bigger than AKL and WL slides. It is faster too. So fast that when I was showing my daughter how to go "fast" (hint - lay flat on your back, arch your back a bit and ride on your shoulder blades, tush and heels) - my glasses flew off when I hit the water! (oops! Blind mommy in the pool searching for her glasses! Some child with goggles found them for me... he got a $10 bill for his help!)

My DD loves this pool and slide. We were there in January and the pool was shut down (so sad), but we got to use Storm along Bay at Beach Club. Also wonderful - but to get the kids to the slide, you have to get out of the pool - walk across the side walk, get them on the stairs, then walk back to the pool entry part. Kind of a pain. At BW - you can sit in a chair (or the hot tub), watch them go up the stairs, watch them come down the slide - and repeat! Much more relaxing. :)

But - it is all about preference... all are lovely. BW pool is our favorite though due to the slide.

I love the BW and we're staying at BWV in the fall BUT sorry this is not my fave pool area and in fact is why we're doing a split stay w/ BC. I totally agree w/ the BW pool 'upscale hotel' feel as opposed to the 'resort tropical island' feeling that I got at CBR, Poly and BC/YC. Just my thoughts, still love the BW itself.

My boys loved the coaster (12 & 14 yra old), and so did I !!!

My son loved it too. It was November and it was very cold when we were there, but he insisted on swimming to try out "Clowney" as he called it. I am not kidding, we were in jeans and sweat shirts and he was shivering, but he had to to have a trip or two on Clowney!:clown:

Why not go to the BC/YC? My DS is now 9 and that is our favorite resort. He still loves digging in the sand along with my 4 yo DD plus there are 2 smaller slides and also the large covered one.

Just a thought
