I'm an absolute fitness freak lol we are staying onsite at Disney Hotel, has anyone used their gym there? In previous experience some hotels, gyms are really really bad, or is there some outdoor running track?

Which hotel are you staying at? The gym at GCH is awesome (for a hotel gym, lol). Will be at DLH in two weeks, so will be testing out the DLH gym then. They also have a power walk every morning around DCA park early before park opening. It's apparently awesome and they guide gives you lots of park tips whilst the walk is going on. It's not a slow walk I believe, it moves at a fast pace so you may be interested in that too.

No help sorry, I find that walking multiple kms in the park each day is more than enough for me :)

We will be staying at Disneyland Hotel, would love to hear your thoughts on the DLH gym when you go. I did read about the power walk but thought it would be slow lol, I'M keen if its fast paced :thumbsup2

I'm sure there's a thread on the DL page. From what I have read it's really fast, no strollers allowed and many people can't keep up and have to drop out :confused3 Haven't done it so not completely sure.

I read that the gym at DLH was included in the recent renovations so it should be ok I would think.

Here's the recent thread on the power walk

Just checked out the above thread. Thanks aussietravellers you are ever so helpful :thumbsup2

Should be great if they have recently refurbed the gym at DLH, so that the power walk and walking hours every day should be effective enough, am planning a bike ride from hollywood to santa monica just hoping the weather is fine for it ;)

The Disneyland Hotel gym was being refurbed when I last stayed there, however, if it's anything like the gym at Paradise Pier Hotel it should be great. Plenty of machines at the Paradise Pier one (although very few people were ever in there).

That's good to know, as I'll be staying at PPH in April, and I'd like to keep up the work I'm doing now in the gym, even though I'll be on holidays! I wasn't quite so into training a few years back while staying at GCH, I don't think I even looked in the gym then!

I love training I go crazy if I don't even on holidays, I'm going to hit the gym pretty much as soon as we arrive to kill the jet lag

I'm not sure I'll be able to get the rest of the family into the gym on our arrival to combat jetlag - OK, there is NO chance of my DH hitting the gym at ALL! So we'll have to fight it off another way!

I've just been bitten by the flu bug. and am hoping that I can get back to the gym tomorrow as per schedule. I trained the last 3 days so am happy to spend this afternoon at the doctor's, rather than the gym. But I don't want to lose focus, as is my tendency... how do you manage consistency - long term? I've been 4 - 5 times a week for the past 6 weeks now, but am still scared that I'll lose focus for some reason (ie illness).

My plan to keep fit is to walk really fast to the park and then really fast to all the rides! :rotfl:

Hope you are feeling better soon HeidiSpidi, this years flu is no fun at all.

Just because hubby/parents are away and friends aren't answering...I just needed to share I did 15kilometres for the first time today. Just had to share cause I am pretty pleased with myself over it.

hope you kick this nasty flu heidispidi and you feel better soon.:)
The main thing is you get better before you start working out again.

I guess I maintain consistency by finding time every day, I have 6 months of workout sheets that I rotate so my body doesnt slack off, and plan my workouts everyday and mix it up.... I focus on HIT and strength..... train 5 days a week, two rest days on my stupid early starts..... sorry ranting, a bit of a freak LOL

LOL I'm sure you're not a freak! I haven't missed the gym yet, thankfully I haven't developed any other symptoms of the flu!

Sounds like you have great variety in your training. You're WAY ahead of me! I'm a basic treadmill, rower, bike and elliptical kind of girl, with some fairly basic weights and toning exercises thrown in. I'm loving being back at the gym though!

Aussietravellers, when you are testing out the gym, can you find out if it is next to the laundry and let me know? I have heard it is or was and it might take the sting out of having to do laundry whilst on holidays.
