Keeping feet dry on Splash Mountain

What does your shirt say? I can't quite read it in the pic, other than Oga's and Spire. :-) Did you make it?

We rode Splash in February wearing ponchos and they worked great. I honestly don't remember about my feet because it POURED rain for the two days we were there, so we already had fairly water-proof shoes on. It was also pre-refurb, so not as bad.View attachment 434976
Ha, it says “I’ll be at Oga’s Cantina ‘Til the Spire,” which doesn’t actually make sense since “‘Til the Spire” means good-bye, but I thought it kind of works. 😆 My daughter has one that says, “I’ll be at Droid Depot ‘Til the Spire.” I did make them.

Love your solo log pic - I used to almost always ride Splash alone when I outstayed my friends on late nights, so I have a lot of solo pics. It used to be that the water was turned down and a light log with one person wouldn’t get wet. No more!

We always wear these if we have tennis shoes on.

We usually put them on while we are right up against the gate ready to load. The people getting in behind us usually laugh and snicker at us, but those getting off the ride and see us with them always say they are jealous and wish they had a pair. You look silly, but you don't deal with squishy feet.
We take them off in the picture room once out of the log since even after the drops the log sloshed full of water. EEW!
Everybody then carries their pair for a minute until they dry and put them away in a tiny ball until the next splash or grizzly ride.
Then we toss them at the end of each day or trip depending on the amount of use.
This is a great idea... I always put a poncho on for splash or grizzly. I get soaked so I don't care how silly I look. This past trip my daughter carried flip flops with her and put her runners in a ziplock bag. I always stick an xl ziplock bag in my small sling backpack so I can put my backpack right inside and zip it up.

We rode last week and got soaked. There were multiple waves coming over the side of the logs. I don’t know why Disney thinks we want to walk around soaked all day. I have ridden the ride for years and this is the wettest i’ve ever gotten. I complained to a cast member and she blamed it on the water pumps, i’m Not riding the ride again and I really like everything except taking a bath with many others 😜the ride has gone from fun to threatening

Thinking about the plastic bags on feet and shoe covers- would plastic shower caps over shoes work? We always collect them from hotels to pack shoes into but this might be another use? Sure a bit might seep in the top but it would protect from shoes getting soaked? I also don’t love the idea of packing additional flip flops..

I purchased the shoe cover bags posted a few pages back. They come up to just below my knee. I also bought some serious ponchos. We are going to look like a very unsophisticated hazmat team getting on that ride 😂

I'd think that shower caps wouldn't go high enough on the leg, nor would it be 'water tight'.

I wear shoes that are quick drying/meshy type in disney and don't require socks. However, if you are in regular shoes/socks, at the very least take off your socks before the ride and put them in your pocket or somewhere they will stay dry. Go w/o socks for a bit until your shoes dry out somewhat and then put your socks back on. Much better than walking with wet socks/shoes together.

I wore Teva sandals during my last visit, which can stand being wet and don't cause issues (they are also very comfortable to walk in).

When we were on Splash Mountain in July, I was in the front row of our car and I was absolutely inundated. I mean, it was like I had jumped into a pool. So I would definitely avoid sitting in the front. Our car was also front-loaded, my friend and I were in the front, there was no one in the middle and then there were two adults in the back. The water simply SURGED over the front of the car and directly onto me, soaking everything. It did seem like the people in the back of the car did not get very wet at all. We remained wet for awhile, and damp for even longer. I AM glad they finally supply Ziploc bags for wallets/phones though.

When we ride Splash now, it is during rainy weather when we are dressed for action. Head to toe Gore-tex, baby! Rain boots, rain pants, rain coats (below the hip or below the knee), etc. Bring it! We get our own log and ride as many times in a row as CMs allow. :) Last February, it was like having buckets of water thrown at us -- and it was so much fun because we didn't care! CMs were laughing right along with us every time we went by. It's the only way I'll ride now.

I rode the other day and all 3 of us were completely drenched. I had put my feet as far to the sides as I could based on a tip here and that did work for me. My feet weren’t wet. DH and DS shoes were drenched because they didn’t do that.

Splash is such a 'hit or miss' in terms of how soaked I get, that usually I'll just save going on it until I'm ready to go back to the hotel for a break. That way, if I get drenched (usually, this IS the case), I can change clothes/shoes at the hotel.

Hmmm biz opp, make plastic bootys for shoes with tight elastic ...but plastic hmmmmm
