Keeping feet dry on Splash Mountain

I was told the rule is for row 6 is two people can ride in the back as long as one of the people is 5' or shorter, while obviously still meeting the minimum height requirement.

Interesting. My MIL is 4'10". She is pretty small, and so am I, but we wouldn't fit side by side in the back. I also wouldn't fit with either of my sons, who just barely hit 5'.

Went on splash last week when it was about 95 degrees out. I sat in the very front and was drenched head to toe before we even got to the last big drop. I don’t think anything would have kept me dry. I also don’t know how I stayed so wet for hours. Went on twice the day before and only got slightly wet.

I hate wet jeans and shoes. So, I will only ride if wearing shorts and flip flops. Lately, it's been my Birkenstocks. I end up wet, but happy.

I try to wear sandals in the day and go on all the wet rides. After my break in the afternoon, i change into sneakers and hit the parks at night to ease my soles and avoid wet shoes XD

I just can’t remember what you do with your backpack while riding...(Last time I rode it, I just gave it my non-riding family but that might not be an option next time...)
Do you just put it on to your lap?
But if I wanna hold on to the log with both hands, I can’t hold on to my bag as well, so I am a little afraid it drops to the floor of the log...

I just put it on the seat in front of me. It stays between me and the seat back. I’ve never had a problem with it dropping to the floor.

I recommend looping your legs through the backpack loop for extra security!

Yes, that’s what I usually do on rides (yes I might be a little over cautious) but on a water ride I would probably put it in my dry bag and then I can’t properly secure it between my legs like I would do on other rides...
But I guess I will be fine if I just put it in front of me... I might even be brave enough to use one hand for holding it...(depends on what I am more afraid of... falling out of the log or letting my bag drop to the floor... )

We went on it yesterday. There was literally 1 inch of water in the bottom of the log when we boarded (and again when we left). We got pretty drenched! They have definitely amped up the water lately!

Wear it on your front instead. It will be looped around your shoulders, but will settle into the space between you and the seat in front of you. That's what my kids do. They call it "front pack."

The only way I am able to keep my feet dry is by sitting in the front - you put your feet all the way up into the front of the log - but then the rest of me gets soaked. Those waves that just wash over you! I am always stuck in the front - DD hugs me from her seat behind me, she will not have DH in front. If she did not have special needs I would not do it, but for her I am a pushover. It used to be my favorite ride but all this water makes me dread it, DD loves it, she thinks it's hilarious

I plan our "wet" days and make sure to wear the right shoes and do not bring any bags with us. Ponchos fit in a pocket No matter where you put the bag it will get wet. I take my phone out of my back pocket (cause even that gets wet) and put it (sorry if TMI) down the front of my pants. Seriously, between the pants and the shirt and leaning forward the phone does not get wet. Zip locks are always a good option... that I usually forget.

PoTC does have slight splashing but nothing I would change shoes for - but watch your hats or they will fly off your head!
Have dodged Grizzly for the last 4 trips! So glad it is a bit out of the way and DD does not see it. I have a knack for sitting on the "right" spot on those types of rides.

Okay, so I read this and now I have The Fear

My son is definitely going to want to ride. “The tricky bunny” is one of the rides he watches repeatedly on YouTube. Barring Disney closing this ride for maintenance and saving me, on a scale of 1-5 (1 being “you’ll still get soaked, hahaha” and 5 being “dry as a bone”), how well do a regular cheap poncho and the foot bags keep you dry? I have our ponchos from Universal (they won’t kick us out, right?! ), which if memory serves did a decent job keeping us kinda dry on Popeyes.

I’m also now planning to pack a specific pair of lightweight “Splash clothes” to change into before the ride so that we can change back into our regular clothes after.

You get especially wet up front.

I used to be able to keep my feet dry with various contortions, but not post-refurb.

What does your shirt say? I can't quite read it in the pic, other than Oga's and Spire. Did you make it?

We rode Splash in February wearing ponchos and they worked great. I honestly don't remember about my feet because it POURED rain for the two days we were there, so we already had fairly water-proof shoes on. It was also pre-refurb, so not as bad.

If you happen to be wearing regular waterproof shoes/sandals, those work fine, too. Keens and Tevas can work well and dry fairly quickly.
