Keeping feet dry on Splash Mountain

I always find the second (?) drop---the one inside that's dark with the bees to be the wettest. It definitely has gotten splashier and living up to its name!

Last time I was on Grizzly River Run I was so stoked I was almost just sprinkled, but then the freaking geyser at the end ruined everything---omg everyone was drenched!! Is it there now permanently??

We always wear these if we have tennis shoes on.

We usually put them on while we are right up against the gate ready to load. The people getting in behind us usually laugh and snicker at us, but those getting off the ride and see us with them always say they are jealous and wish they had a pair. You look silly, but you don't deal with squishy feet.
We take them off in the picture room once out of the log since even after the drops the log sloshed full of water. EEW!
Everybody then carries their pair for a minute until they dry and put them away in a tiny ball until the next splash or grizzly ride.
Then we toss them at the end of each day or trip depending on the amount of use.
YESSSS! These are now in my Amazon cart! I don't really care if I look stupid; for a hot minute, I actually did consider the trash-bag-sack-race option. And this is way cheaper than buying three new pairs of shoes.

I've never had much of an issue on Splash Mt. On GRR a couple of people always get wet on the rapids portion, but on the drop everyone gets wet because water shoots up through the drains. Just put your foot over the drain - problem solved.

Those shoe covers are brilliant!!!!! Yep, they're now on the list!

We have spent all summer riding this and Grizzly River Run. BY FAR, Splash gets you more wet. Not even close. Our feet usually actually stay dry on GRR, but NEVER on Splash. The first and second little drops, a wave sort of washes over the rocks on the side and curves back into your lap. Your only hope of staying somewhat dry is to be in load position 5 or 6. The back tends to be spared the worst of it. Seats 1-3 get soaked. Every time.

My kids wear crocs. I wear flip flops. We won't ride if we are wearing sneakers.

I also bring a plastic bag for my purse. Otherwise, it gets soaked too.

How many people can ride in a row? Can it fit two adults and a young child? Can we ask to sit in the back, even if we have to wait until the next cycle? So many questions!

One per seat. It's a single bench that you straddle. An adult and very small child CAN ride together in the very back seat, which is row 6/7. There are six rows, 1 being the front seat, 6/7 being the back. Yes, you can ask for the back seat.

Interesting! I did not know the seats were set up like that. Were they always that way? When I went to WDW a billion years ago, I have a distinct memory of a little boy sitting in between his mother and father in either the row in front of or behind me. I remember him specifically because he ducked so low during the last drop that you couldn't see him at all in the photograph. Are the WDW seats bigger?

How many people can ride in a row? One person, except the back row which seats two.

Can it fit two adults and a young child? Not in the single seat but I think they'll let one adult and one small child sit together (child between your legs) and you can fit two people in the last row double seat, I don't know if they allow a child with two adults.

Can we ask to sit in the back, even if we have to wait until the next cycle? Yes. At least you used to be able to, especially if you had a child with you.

Google Disneyland Splash Mountain ride vehicle. There are plenty of pics. But remember that the WDW SM logs are double seaters, the DL ones are singles.

Disneyland has always had these logs. WDW has always had side by side seating with wider logs.

You cannot put a child between your legs in any seating position. Seats 1-5 are one rider only. No exceptions. The back seat can sit 2, but the child has to be seated next to you. This really only works for kids up to about age 5 and a smallish adult. The seat is not much wider than a single seat. It's like a 1 1/2 width seat.

Thanks! I did google it. I can't find any photos of an adult and child riding together, but I can see that the last seat area is bigger. If we ask to sit in the back, I can ride with The Boy and DH in front of us. It's not important that we're all together; I'd just rather someone sit with my five-year-old if possible.

Yay! He will be barely-turned-five and I am, indeed, smallish :)

I was told the rule is for row 6 is two people can ride in the back as long as one of the people is 5' or shorter, while obviously still meeting the minimum height requirement.

You guys, we are going to be a sight. Here come mom, dad, and tot, shuffling up in their ponchos and boot covers to their knees, asking please can they sit in the back? If the CM's don't roll their eyes outside of their head as soon as our backs are turned, I will judge them a little 😂

You won't even make them look twice. They even make an announcement in the line to put your ponchos and plastic bags on before arriving at the boarding area. Lots of people do it.
