Keep Returning to Same Resort or Try New One?

That's the question I'm dealing with now, in the early stages of planning our June 2013 trip.

We went for our first trip last year and stayed at Pop. We loved it. We loved the bustle, the over-the-top theming, just everything about it. We said frequently while there that we wanted to come back to Pop on our next trip.

We do need to stay in a value - moving to moderate would drop a day from our trip to stay on budget, and we aren't crazy about the look of any of the mods anyway. I haven't even bothered to price anything beyond the mods. Granted, maybe we'll get a pin code or something, but otherwise we will plan to stay at a value.

So do we go back to the value resort we loved, or do we try something new? I'm torn - on one hand, a new resort might be fun. On the other hand, what if we spend the whole time wishing we'd stayed at Pop?

I don't like the fact that the All Stars are all close together and share buses. But I do think that ASMo is adorable. And then there are the standard rooms in AOA, which should be open by the time we go. My DH and DS are not at all interested in Little Mermaid, so I'm not sure if that will be an option. We'll have to wait and see what they look like later this year.

So which is the better choice - stay again at the same resort for our second trip, or go see what else is out there?

we started out in deluxe and tried all of them then tried all moderates out and really liked Port Orleans riverside the best of those then we tried the All Stars (all of them) and we liked Music best. then we tried POP and have been going there since and this fall will be our 7th stay there and we looking as forward to it as the first. also will be our 63rd trip to Disney as well.:dance3: my sister and I went in January for just three days and thought about a moderate or deluxe and decided we going back to POP so stayed there then also. thought also about AOA for this fall but is only standard rooms or a suite and we do like the preferred pool view and get two rooms cheaper connecting at POP.. have a great time on your trip and hope you get free dining we do and then upgrade to get MYWD :cheer2:

So far, I haven't stayed in the same resort twice. All I remember is having a great time. When planning our next stay, we'll probably do a different resort again. :)

We stayed in POFQ the first few years we went. Then we switched to WL and LOVE IT. We thought we should try something else and got a great discount on a GF room. The hotel is gorgeous but we missed home (WL)!!

We discussed staying somewhere else, even booked a ressie at another resort, but, as long as we can afford it/save up all year for it , we will keep going back to the WL.

We stayed at POP our first trip and really liked it. I remember during that trip we visited POFQ and I told DH would would try it on our next trip. Our next trip we stayed at POFQ and loved it! I was seriously considering the Poly for our trip this year but as the saying goes...if it ain't broke don't fix it. We'll be staying at POFQ this trip and future trips as well.

I would love try to all the resorts too. We do try to mix it up as much as possible. Sometimes resort choice is because of the time of the year or my choice with a discount pin code. I would have love to stay at ASMO or Sports at one point but I am nervous to pick the week when the large school groups are there. Our DS is a big Sports fan. Money is a factor why we haven't stayed at any of the deluxe level resorts. We tried to choose POR for our upcoming trip in June but it wasn't available for our week. We are choosing CBR. We stayed there in June 2007 & loved it. MY DS was 6 at the time so it will be like a new resort for him. He is now 11 yrs old. We enjoy POP but was there on our last trip in Nov. 2010. I don't want to repeat the same resort twice in a row. We do like the cover bus stops during summer trips so we avoid the value resorts for that reason. the theme at CSR doesn't appeal to me. So we are happy with a 30 % discount with CBR & we haven't been there in 5 years:thumbsup2

OP, the mods really are very nice.
We've stayed in the mods, deluxes, and villas and have loved the change. You know what you like. It seems like the All Stars don't appeal to you so the only other values are either the AoA or Pop.

I'm not looking forward to the bus situation either, but ultimately we are happy to just be going back.

I keep seeing about the buses being shared at the All Stars - is that a seasonal thing? I ask because we went to ASMovies last September (LOVED IT!) and the buses were not shared.

I have stayed at ASMu and Pop. When free dining first came out, I couldn't wait to get back to Pop. When I booked, only ASSp was available. Later that day Pop was available and I called to change resorts. I love Pop.

But I didn't think there was anything wrong with ASMu, except we did have to share the buses more often than not (I went in Sept). But Pop has more people so I think in the end it evened out.

I think ASMo would be a great resort to try.

I would suggest trying a new resort ~ it would be a fun new experience :goodvibes.

All the value resorts are very nice, and I can't imagine you being unhappy with any of them.

On the other hand, if you LOVE Pop that much, and really think you'll miss it, then go ahead and stay there! You only get to go every once in a while and you should enjoy it your favorite way :goodvibes.

I was also on a quest to try all the resorts, but stayed at Pop once and have no desire to stay at a value again. And so anyone doesn't get offended, it just wasn't for us. I felt kind of crammed in the room, my kids didn't like the pools, we missed having a restaurant, etc. I don't want anyone to think that we are too good for one.

OP: Have you looked at a split stay. We :lovestruc split stays because we get to try something new. We usually pick a resort that we know we loved as one part and something new as the other. Best of both worlds. Good luck with your planning.

I seriously doubt that the poster was saying anything of the sort. They probably had a horrible stay at a value similar to the one that we had, and vowed never to return to a value again. You obviously have been fortunate to have had only positive results. Lucky you, but your statement is presumptuous.

That's great, but neither the statement made about the BW or the one about the WL really have nothing to do with this post or helping the OP as they are wondering about POP, another Value or a Mod. They have stated that deluxe was out of their price range.

We stayed at CBR twice, and to be honest, by the end of the 2nd trip, I was plenty done with it. Variety seems fun, but after all the glowing reports about POP (which you know OP how you feel about it), it sounds like it could be one of those places people love to return to . I definetly want to try it sometime. Have no desire to repeat a trip to CSR, without first trying new things. We are, therefore trying a different mod. this trip (POR).
