Please tell me if I'm being too extreme....but this trip is sooo anticipated and planned. We leave in two weeks for our trip and my triplets are about to start preschool...well at parent orientation tonight the teachers informed us to watch out as the stomach bug is going around the school system already...and strong! We leave for WDW on a Friday..and they only have school that Teus. and Thurs. of the week....should I keep them home?? My biggest fear has always been them getting sick for the trip...is it worth it? thanks...

I would be nervous too - stomach bug X 3 on vacation would not be good. I don't think you are being too extreme to consider such a move with a rampant stomach bug on the loose.

Preschoolers are a germy lot and those GI bugs seem to pass from one person to another very easily.

I probably wouldn't keep them home if we didn't have any plans, but I might consider it if we were getting ready to head out on a big vacation.

Hi, Keep them HOME!! And have a WONDERFUL 1st trip with your triplets!!

Definitely keep them home. I did this w/my DD4 last May - I kept her out for 2 weeks prior to our trip but she got sick anyways and we ended up having to cancel. Sorry I'm sure you didn't want to hear this but the incubation time (according to her doc) was probably about 10 days and she got sick 3 days prior to our trip. But we rescheduled and leave in 30 days and I have delayed her starting preschool until after our return - we took her out for the summer.
We're glad we cancelled because 3 days later after cancelling DD2 was sick and then I got sick so we made the right decision.

I hope everything works out ok & you have a fabulous vacation!

Definitely keep them home. It's not like missing a few weeks of preschool is going to make any difference in the long run anyway. Enjoy your time with them at home and when you are at WDW.

Missing the first few weeks of preschool won't have any lasting effects on the kids. All you need is for one of them to catch the bug and then all 3 will have it (and you might get it too!:scared1: )

Definitely keep them home and enjoy your trip. Keep washing those little hands in the meantime! :)

Speaking from someone who was just in that situation (2yr old sick w/ the worst stomach bug for our entire trip!!) I'd say keep them home!!

Keep them home!!! It's only 2 days they're missing and you wouldn't want to risk it.

My son once got the stomach bug while on Disney vacation and we wound up leaving a day early (driving)...it was pretty severe.

As a fellow mama of triplets, I would keep them home. If they get, you'll get it (and, of course, everyone's illness will be staggered by a day or two meaning essentially a week of someone with the virus) and that will ruin vacation.

good question.

we are going in nov. and i was wondering the same thing as this is our kids' first year of preschool (i am SO scared to see how this all pans out...my kids were sick almost all of last winter and they weren't in school, didn't go to any little classes, etc)!

wishing you all health and a FABULOUS vacation!

Yes, keep them home.

I just got back from Baltimore and NYC. My 9yo (bless her heart) only started feeling ill when we were sightseeing in NYC. Luckily, I brought my first aid kit and I had some medicine for her. Being ill on vacation is definitely not fun.

Have a fun, healthy vacation! :wizard:

Oh, and excellent advice about eating yogurt. :thumbsup2

Well..being the worry wart I am :) , I have been worrying about him/us getting sick and just about everything else you can imagine worrying about :lmao:. We did take the trip insurance for this reason. I have read everything from giving them yogurt (as mentioned above) to Airborne (vitamins), lots of OJ, etc...etc...My ds son also goes to preschool, but, taking him out isn't a option for two reasons, 1) he would be highly upset to have his routine changed and 2) I work from home (but since I schedule my own time - this wouldn't be a huge issue, except this job is funding our Disney trip :lmao:). I'm just going to continue with our normal schedules and pray/hope for the best. :thumbsup2

I would keep them home too. i start limiting where we go 2 weeks out, sometimes 3, like no grocery store, no mall, no play places. I don't want any bugs going with us! We leave in 3 weeks and I really want to take him for a haircut but wanted to wait a little while longer, now I am thinking no waiting. I need to go now.

I would keep them home too especially knowing that the bug is in the school. You also should keep them home from other germ infested places like grocery stores, Chuck E Cheese, and church. We also dont eat out for a week or two before our trip since I just cant feel good about others possibly coming into work sick and cooking/serving our food. We tend to travel during the flu season and it makes me crazy trying to keep all the kids well. Mine are all in school and older (17,12,8) so I dont have the option of keeping them home. Makes me wish sometimes that I was homeschooling again!!

It hadn't even dawned on me...that it will be flu season :scared1: and to top it off we are flying (all kinds of germs with the recycled air). Think I will def. give the airborne a shot, hopefully it will help ward off any of this  !!
