I would keep hanging it too. Even if she keeps it on the line for weeks at a time, her yard, her life. I wish I could hang stuff on the line but too many people in the house with allergies. Once the kids are gone though, sheets and bedding will get hung out again .

I think it's awesome that you hang your laundry. If it wasn't for our HOA, I'd be hanging everything on the line! And if I had even thought of it when I bought this house so many years ago, I would have found out that our HOA had such a ban and looked elsewhere. It's the right thing to do for the environment and it just makes your clothes smell so wonderful.

By all means hang the laundry! If you give in on this one, who knows what she'll demand you to do next? I think it's best to show her early on that you can't be controlled by her demands. People like that are never happy and will push and push unless they're put in their place right away.

Man, if only I could go over and tell my neighbor to please remove the Target bag from her tree that has been there for 5 months, or to replace one of her landscaping bricks that her dog knocked off. Those are both things that I have to look at from my kitchen windows. But, OMG, would I ever do that? Absolutely NOT!

The nerve of your neighbor amazes me! Hopefully nobody ever breaks in while you are watching and they aren't home or something!

Keep on hanging! Hang undies and bras! Hang your DH's boxers and leave them out there to get real nice and fresh!

I've always hung my laundry outside in nice weather, both for the savings on the power bill and the environmental reasons. We live in a neighborhood with no covenants or HOA so no rules against clotheslines. Many other people in the neighborhood also hang out laundry and no one's ever had a problem.

Well, we had new next door neighbors move in over the winter. Now that the weather's nice, I'm back to hanging out the laundry. Well, the wife comes over today and asks that I please not do that anymore. It's not nice to look at, she says. When we met them for the first time in Dec., I thought they seemed a little snotty, but hoped they were just shy. It seems snotty was the right impression.

Two things to note: My clothesline is far away from her property line, partially blocked from her view by my deck. In other words, she's really having to strain and make an effort to see it. Second, I'm always careful to hang the skivvies on the inside of the line and use towels and other larger items to block the view of the underwear because I realize some people object to bras and panties flapping in the wind.

So, the question is: Do I keep hanging out the laundry and offend then neighbors, or do I keep the peace and start using the dryer?

I love the smell of clothes from drying outside, you are hanging the clothes on your property, you pay your bills, don't be so nice if she says anything again tell her not to look

I'd tell her I understand not wanting to look at something so unappealling, you will stop hanging clothes if she paints her house, you don't like the color.
Or something as equally ridiculous.

No way should you stop hanging your clothes on the line because your neighbor doesn't like it.
